1 Chroniques 12
1 Voici ceux qui vinrent auprès de David, à Ciklag, lorsqu’il se cachait encore pour échapper à Saül, fils de Kich. Ils faisaient partie des vaillants guerriers, ses compagnons de lutte,
Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he kept still close because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men who helped him in the conflict;
2 maniaient l’arc, lançaient des pierres de la main droite et de la gauche, et des flèches avec leurs arcs. Parmi les parents de Saül, issus de Benjamin, il y avait:
armed with bows, using both the right hand and the left with stones and with arrows on the bow; [they were] of Saul's brethren of Benjamin:
3 le chef Ahiézer et Joas, fils de Hachemaa, de Ghibea; Yeziël et Pélet, fils de Azmavet; Berakha, Yêhou, d’Anatot;
the chief Ahiezer, and Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; and Berachah, and Jehu the Anathothite,
4 Yichmaïa, de Gabaon, vaillant parmi les Trente, et chef des Trente; Jérémie, Yahaziël, Johanan, Yozabad, de Ghedêra;
and Jishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite.
5 Elouzaï, Yerimot, Bealia, Chemariahou, Chefatiahou, de Harouf;
Eluzai, and Jerimoth, and Bealiah, and Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite;
6 Elkana, Yichiahou, Azarêl, Yoézer, Yachobam, les Korahites;
Elkanah, and Jishijah, and Azareel, and Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korahites;
7 Yoêla, Zebadia, fils de Yeroham, de Ghedor.
and Joelah, and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.
8 Des Gadites se détachèrent pour passer à David, dans la forteresse du désert, vaillants héros, hommes de guerre, maniant le bouclier et la lance, ayant une apparence de lions et semblables à des chamois sur les montagnes pour la rapidité.
And of the Gadites, there separated themselves to David in the stronghold in the wilderness mighty men of valour, men fit for the service of war, armed with shield and spear; whose faces were [like] the faces of lions, and who were swift as the gazelles upon the mountains:
9 Le chef était Ezer, le second Obadia, le troisième Elïab,
Ezer the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,
10 le quatrième Michmanna, le cinquième Jérémie,
Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,
11 le sixième Attaï, le septième Eliël,
Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,
12 le huitième Johanan, le neuvième Elzabad,
Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,
13 le dixième Yirmeyahou, et le onzième Makhbannaï.
Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.
14 Tels étaient les Gadites, chefs d’armée: le plus petit en valait cent, le plus grand, mille.
These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over a hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.
15 Ce sont eux qui passèrent le Jourdain dans le premier mois, quand il coule à pleins bords, et qui mirent en fuite tous les habitants de la vallée à l’Ouest et à l’Est.
These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it overflows all its banks, and they put to flight all [them] of the valleys, toward the east and toward the west.
16 Des Benjaminites et des Judéens rejoignirent aussi David dans la forteresse.
And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold to David.
17 David sortit à leur rencontre et leur adressa ces paroles: "Si c’est avec des intentions pacifiques que vous êtes venus à moi, pour m’aider, je serai de cœur avec vous; si c’est pour me livrer traîtreusement à mes ennemis, sans que j’aie commis de faute, que le Dieu de nos ancêtres voie et juge!"
And David went out to meet them, and answered and said to them, If ye come peaceably to me to help me, my heart shall be knit unto you; but if to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in my hands, the God of our fathers see [it] and rebuke [it].
18 Alors une inspiration s’empara d’Amassaï, chef des Trente: "A toi, David, dit-il, et avec toi, fils de Jessé, paix; oui, paix à toi, et paix à tes auxiliaires, car ton Dieu t’assiste!" David alors les accueillit et les plaça à la tête des troupes.
And the Spirit came upon Amasai, the chief of the captains, [and he said, ] Thine [are we], David, And with thee, thou son of Jesse: Peace, peace be to thee! And peace be to thy helpers! For thy God helps thee. And David received them, and made them chiefs of bands.
19 Des gens de Manassé se rallièrent aussi à David, lorsqu’il vint avec les Philistins combattre Saül; mais ils n’aidèrent pas les Philistins, car les chefs de ceux-ci, après s’être concertés, l’avaient renvoyé, en disant: "C’Est au prix de nos têtes qu’il se rallierait à son maître Saül."
And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not; for the lords of the Philistines upon deliberation sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul at the peril of our heads.
20 Lorsqu’il alla à Ciklag, se joignirent à son parti, d’entre les gens de Manassé, Adna, Yozabad, Yedïaêl, Mikhaël, Yozabad, Elihou, et Cilletaï, chefs de mille en Manassé.
As he went away to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh: Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zilthai, captains of the thousands that were of Manasseh.
21 Ils furent un grand appui pour David à la tête des troupes, car ils étaient tous de vaillants guerriers, et ils devinrent des chefs d’armée.
And they helped David in his expeditions; for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.
22 Journellement, en effet, on venait à David pour l’assister, au point qu’il eut un camp grand comme celui de Dieu.
For day by day there came [men] to David to help him, until it was a great camp, like the camp of God.
23 Et voici le décompte des chefs des hommes, équipés pour faire campagne, qui vinrent rejoindre David à Hébron, pour lui transférer la royauté de Saül, selon la parole de l’Eternel.
And this is the number of the men equipped for military service, who came to David to Hebron, to transfer the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of Jehovah.
24 Des Judéens, portant le bouclier et la lance: six mille huit cents hommes équipés pour l’armée.
The children of Judah that bore shield and spear were six thousand eight hundred, equipped for military service.
25 Des Siméonites, vaillants hommes d’armes: sept mille cent.
Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for war, seven thousand one hundred.
26 Des Lévites: quatre mille six cents.
Of the children of Levi four thousand six hundred.
27 Joïada était le chef des Aaronides; il avait avec lui trois mille sept cents hommes.
And Jehoiada the prince of Aaron, and with him were three thousand seven hundred;
28 Çadok, quoique encore jeune, était un vaillant soldat. La maison de son père comptait vingt-deux capitaines.
and Zadok, a valiant young man, and his father's house two and twenty chief men.
29 Des Benjaminites, frères de Saül: trois mille. Jusque-là, la plupart avaient gardé leur foi à la maison de Saül.
And of the children of Benjamin, the brethren of Saul, three thousand; but hitherto the greater part of them had adhered to the house of Saul.
30 Des Ephraïmites: vingt mille huit cents, vaillants guerriers, possédant une grande renommée, répartis selon leurs familles.
And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand eight hundred, mighty men of valour, men of name in their fathers' houses.
31 De la demi-tribu de Manassé: dix-huit mille, désignés nominativement pour aller conférer la royauté à David.
And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were expressed by name, to come and make David king.
32 Des gens d’Issachar, experts en la connaissance des temps pour décider la conduite à tenir par Israël, il vint deux cents chefs, auxquels obéissaient tous leurs frères.
And of the children of Issachar, who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their bidding.
33 Des gens de Zabulon, allant à la guerre et menant le combat avec toute sorte d’armes de guerre: cinquante mille; ils gardaient leurs rangs d’un cœur ferme.
Of Zebulun, such as went forth in the host, armed for war with all weapons of war, fifty thousand, keeping rank without double heart.
34 Des gens de Nephtali: mille chefs, commandant à trente-sept mille hommes, armés de boucliers et de lances.
And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them thirty-seven thousand with shield and spear.
35 Des gens de Dan, dressés au combat: vingt-huit mille six cents.
And of the Danites armed for war twenty-eight thousand six hundred.
36 Des gens d’Aser allant à la guerre et prenant part aux combats: quarante mille.
And of Asher such as went forth in the host, to set themselves in battle array, forty thousand.
37 De la Transjordanie, en fait de Rubénites, de Gadites et de gens de la demi-tribu de Manassé, cent vingt mille hommes, armés de toute sorte d’armes de guerre.
And from the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of weapons of war for battle, a hundred and twenty thousand.
38 Tous ces guerriers, habitués des combats, vinrent avec enthousiasme à Hébron pour proclamer David roi sur tout Israël. Pareillement, tous les autres Israélites étaient unanimes à acclamer David.
All of them men of war, keeping rank in battle array, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.
39 Ils restèrent là avec David, trois jours durant, mangeant et buvant, approvisionnés par leurs frères.
And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brethren had prepared for them;
40 De plus, ceux qui demeuraient dans le voisinage, jusqu’à Issachar, Zabulon et Nephtali, leur apportaient des vivres à dos d’ânes, de chameaux, de mulets et de bœufs: aliments de farine, figues, raisins secs, vin, huile, viande de menu et de gros bétail en abondance, car c’était fête en Israël.
and those too that were near them, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought food on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen; provisions of meal, fig-cakes and raisin-cakes, and wine and oil, and oxen and sheep, abundantly; for there was joy in Israel.
