Psaumes 99

1 L’Éternel règne: que les peuples tremblent! Il est assis entre les chérubins: que la terre s’émeuve!

The Lord is King; let the peoples be in fear: his seat is on the winged ones; let the earth be moved.

2 L’Éternel est grand en Sion, et il est haut élevé par-dessus tous les peuples.

The Lord is great in Zion; he is high over all the nations.

3 Ils célébreront ton nom grand et terrible: – il est saint! –

Let them give praise to your name, for it is great and to be feared; holy is he.

4 Et la force du roi qui aime la justice. Toi, tu établis la droiture, tu exerces le jugement et la justice en Jacob.

The king's power is used for righteousness; you give true decisions, judging rightly in the land of Jacob.

5 Exaltez l’Éternel, notre Dieu, et prosternez-vous devant le marchepied de ses pieds: – il est saint!

Give high honour to the Lord our God, worshipping at his feet; holy is he.

6 Moïse et Aaron, parmi ses sacrificateurs, et Samuel, parmi ceux qui invoquent son nom, crièrent à l’Éternel, et il leur a répondu.

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among those who gave honour to his name; they made prayers to the Lord, and he gave answers to them.

7 Il leur parla dans la colonne de nuée: ils ont gardé ses témoignages, et le statut qu’il leur avait donné.

His voice came to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his witness, and the law which he gave them.

8 Éternel, notre Dieu! tu leur as répondu, tu as été pour eux un Dieu qui pardonnait, et prenait vengeance de leurs actes.

You gave them an answer, O Lord our God; you took away their sin, though you gave them punishment for their wrongdoing.

9 Exaltez l’Éternel, notre Dieu, et prosternez-vous en la montagne de sa sainteté; car l’Éternel, notre Dieu, est saint!

Give high honour to the Lord our God, worshipping with your faces turned to his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.
