Psaumes 81

1 Au chef de musique. Sur Guitthith. D’Asaph. Chantez joyeusement à Dieu, notre force; poussez des cris de joie vers le Dieu de Jacob.

For the Leader; upon the Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength; shout unto the God of Jacob.

2 Entonnez le cantique, et faites résonner le tambourin, la harpe agréable, avec le luth.

Take up the melody, and sound the timbrel, the sweet harp with the psaltery.

3 Sonnez de la trompette à la nouvelle lune, au temps fixé, au jour de notre fête;

Blow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon for our feast-day.

4 Car c’est un statut pour Israël, une ordonnance du Dieu de Jacob:

For it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

5 Il l’établit comme un témoignage en Joseph, lorsqu’il sortit à travers le pays d’Égypte, où j’entendis une langue que je ne connaissais pas.

He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, when He went forth against the land of Egypt. The speech of one that I knew not did I hear:

6 J’ai retiré son épaule de dessous le fardeau, ses mains ont été déchargées des corbeilles.

'I removed his shoulder from the burden; His hands were freed from the basket.

7 Dans la détresse tu as crié, et je t’ai délivré; je t’ai répondu du lieu secret du tonnerre; je t’ai éprouvé auprès des eaux de Meriba. (Sélah)

Thou didst call in trouble, and I rescued thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)

8 Écoute, mon peuple, et je témoignerai au milieu de toi; Israël, oh! si tu voulais m’écouter!

Hear, O My people, and I will admonish thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto Me!

9 Il n’y aura point au milieu de toi de dieu étranger, et tu ne te prosterneras pas devant un dieu de l’étranger.

There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.

10 Moi, je suis l’Éternel, ton Dieu, qui t’ai fait monter du pays d’Égypte; ouvre ta bouche toute grande, et je la remplirai.

I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 Mais mon peuple n’a pas écouté ma voix, et Israël n’a pas voulu de moi.

But My people hearkened not to My voice; and Israel would none of Me.

12 Alors je les ai abandonnés à l’obstination de leur cœur: ils ont marché selon leurs conseils.

So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.

13 Oh! si mon peuple m’avait écouté! si Israël avait marché dans mes voies!

Oh that My people would hearken unto Me, that Israel would walk in My ways!

14 J’aurais bientôt subjugué leurs ennemis, et tourné ma main contre leurs adversaires.

I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn My hand against their adversaries.

15 Ceux qui haïssent l’Éternel se seraient soumis à lui; et leur temps, à eux, aurait été à toujours;

The haters of the LORD should dwindle away before Him; and their punishment should endure for ever.

16 Et il les aurait nourris de la moelle du froment, et je t’aurais rassasié du miel du rocher.

They should also be fed with the fat of wheat; and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee.'
