Psaumes 73
1 Psaume d’Asaph. Certainement Dieu est bon envers Israël, envers ceux qui sont purs de cœur.
A Psalm for Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to the upright in heart!
2 Et pour moi, il s’en est fallu de peu que mes pieds ne m’aient manqué, – d’un rien que mes pas n’aient glissé;
But my feet were almost overthrown; my goings very nearly slipped.
3 Car j’ai porté envie aux arrogants, en voyant la prospérité des méchants.
For I was jealous of the transgressors, beholding the tranquility of sinners.
4 Car [il n’y a] pas de tourments dans leur mort, et leur corps est gras;
For there is no sign of reluctance in their death: and [they have] firmness under their affliction.
5 Ils n’ont point de part aux peines des humains, et ils ne sont pas frappés avec les hommes.
They are not in the troubles of [other] men; and they shall not be scourged with [other] men.
6 C’est pourquoi l’orgueil les entoure comme un collier, la violence les couvre comme un vêtement;
Therefore pride has possessed them; they have clothed themselves with their injustice and ungodliness.
7 Les yeux leur sortent de graisse; ils dépassent les imaginations de leur cœur.
Their injustice shall go forth as out of fatness: they have fulfilled their intention.
8 Ils sont railleurs et parlent méchamment d’opprimer; ils parlent avec hauteur;
They have taken counsel and spoken in wickedness: they have uttered unrighteousness loftily.
9 Ils placent leur bouche dans les cieux, et leur langue se promène sur la terre.
They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has gone through upon the earth.
10 C’est pourquoi son peuple se tourne de ce côté-là, et on lui verse l’eau à plein bord,
Therefore shall my people return hither: and full days shall be found with them.
11 Et ils disent: Comment Dieu connaîtrait-il, et y aurait-il de la connaissance chez le Très-haut?
And they said, How does God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?
12 Voici, ceux-ci sont des méchants, et ils prospèrent dans le monde, ils augmentent leurs richesses.
Behold, these [are] the sinners, and they that prosper always: they have possessed wealth.
13 Certainement c’est en vain que j’ai purifié mon cœur et que j’ai lavé mes mains dans l’innocence:
And I said, Verily in vain have I justified my heart, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 J’ai été battu tout le jour, et mon châtiment [revenait] chaque matin.
For I was plagued all the day, and my reproof [was] every morning.
15 Si j’avais dit: Je parlerai ainsi, voici, j’aurais été infidèle à la génération de tes fils.
If I said, I will speak thus; behold, I [should] have broken covenant with the generation of thy children.
16 Quand j’ai médité pour connaître cela, ce fut un travail pénible à mes yeux,
And I undertook to understand this, [but] it is too hard for me,
17 Jusqu’à ce que je sois entré dans les sanctuaires de Dieu…: j’ai compris leur fin.
until I go into the sanctuary of God; [and so] understand the latter end.
18 Certainement tu les places en des lieux glissants, tu les fais tomber en ruines.
Surely thou hast appointed [judgments] to them because of their crafty dealings: thou hast cast them down when they were lifted up.
19 Comme ils sont détruits en un moment! Ils sont péris, consumés par la frayeur.
How have they become desolate! suddenly they have failed: they have perished because of their iniquity.
20 Comme un songe, quand on s’éveille, tu mépriseras, Seigneur, leur image, lorsque tu t’éveilleras.
As the dream of one awakening, O Lord, in thy city thou wilt despise their image.
21 Quand mon cœur s’aigrissait, et que je me tourmentais dans mes reins,
For my heart has rejoiced, and my reins have been gladdened.
22 J’étais alors stupide et je n’avais pas de connaissance; j’étais avec toi comme une brute.
But I [was] vile and knew not: I became brutish before thee.
23 Mais je suis toujours avec toi: tu m’as tenu par la main droite;
Yet I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand.
24 Tu me conduiras par ton conseil, et, après la gloire, tu me recevras.
Thou hast guided me by thy counsel, and thou hast taken me to thyself with glory.
25 Qui ai-je dans les cieux? Et je n’ai eu de plaisir sur la terre qu’en toi.
For what have I in heaven [but thee]? and what have I desired upon the earth beside thee?
26 Ma chair et mon cœur sont consumés; Dieu est le rocher de mon cœur, et mon partage pour toujours.
My heart and my flesh have failed: [but] God [is the strength] of my heart, and God is my portion for ever.
27 Car voici, ceux qui sont loin de toi périront; tu détruiras tous ceux qui se prostituent en se détournant de toi.
For, behold, they that remove themselves far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed every one that goes a whoring from thee.
28 Mais, pour moi, m’approcher de Dieu est mon bien; j’ai mis ma confiance dans le Seigneur, l’Éternel, pour raconter tous tes faits.
But it is good for me to cleave close to God, to put my trust in the Lord; that I may proclaim all thy praises in the gates of the daughter of Sion.
