Psaumes 148
1 Louez Jah. Louez, des cieux, l’Éternel! Louez-le dans les lieux élevés!
Praise Yahweh! Praise him, from up in heaven; praise him from way up in the sky!
2 Louez-le, vous, tous ses anges! Louez-le, vous, toutes ses armées!
All you angels who belong to him, praise him! All you who are in the armies of heaven, praise him!
3 Louez-le, soleil et lune! Louez-le, vous, toutes les étoiles de lumière!
Sun and moon, [you also] praise him! You shining stars, you praise him!
4 Louez-le, cieux des cieux, et vous, eaux qui êtes au-dessus des cieux!
You highest heavens, praise him! And you waters that are high above the sky, praise him!
5 Qu’ils louent le nom de l’Éternel; car c’est lui qui a commandé, et ils ont été créés.
I want [all of] these to praise Yahweh [MTY] because by commanding [them to exist], he created them.
6 Et il les a établis à perpétuité et pour toujours; il a rendu son décret, et il ne passera point.
He determined the places where they should be [in the sky], and he commanded that they should be there forever. They cannot disobey that command!
7 Louez, de la terre, l’Éternel, vous, monstres des eaux, et vous, tous les abîmes!
And everything on the earth, praise Yahweh! You [huge] sea monsters and [everything else that is] deep [in the ocean],
8 Feu et grêle, neige et vapeur, vent de tempête qui exécutes sa parole;
and fire and hail, and snow and frost, and strong winds that obey what he commands, [I tell] all of you to praise Yahweh!
9 Montagnes, et [vous], toutes les collines, arbres fruitiers, et tous les cèdres;
Hills and mountains, fruit trees and cedar [trees],
10 Animaux et tout le bétail, reptiles et oiseaux ailés;
all the wild animals and all [you] cattle, and the (reptiles/creatures that scurry across the ground), and [all] the birds, [I tell all of them to praise Yahweh]!
11 Rois de la terre et tous les peuples, princes et tous les juges de la terre;
You kings on this earth and all the people [that you rule], you princes and all [other] rulers,
12 Jeunes hommes et les vierges aussi; [vous], vieillards, avec les jeunes gens:
you young men and young women, you old people and children, [everyone, praise Yahweh!]
13 Qu’ils louent le nom de l’Éternel! car son nom seul est haut élevé; sa majesté est au-dessus de la terre et des cieux.
I want them [all] to praise Yahweh [MTY] because he is greater than anyone else. His glory is greater than [anything on] the earth or [in] heaven.
14 Et il exaltera la corne de son peuple, la louange de tous ses saints, – des fils d’Israël, le peuple qui est près de lui. Louez Jah!
He caused us, his people, to be strong in order that we, his people, we Israeli people (who are very precious to him/whom he loves very much), would praise him. So praise Yahweh!
