Lévitique 11
1 Et l’Éternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron, leur disant:
And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
2 Parlez aux fils d’Israël, en disant: Ce sont ici les animaux dont vous mangerez, d’entre toutes les bêtes qui sont sur la terre.
Speak you to the sons of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which you shall eat of all beasts that are upon the earth.
3 Vous mangerez, d’entre les bêtes qui ruminent, tout ce qui a l’ongle fendu et le pied complètement divisé.
Every beast parting the hoof and making divisions of two claws, and chewing the cud amongst beasts, these you shall eat.
4 Seulement de ceci vous ne mangerez pas, d’entre celles qui ruminent, et d’entre celles qui ont l’ongle fendu: le chameau, car il rumine, mais il n’a pas l’ongle fendu; il vous est impur:
But of these you shall not eat, of those that chew the cud, and of those that part the hoofs, and divide claws; the camel, because it chews the cud, but does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.
5 et le daman, car il rumine, mais il n’a pas l’ongle fendu; il vous est impur:
And the rabbit, because it chews the cud, but does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.
6 et le lièvre, car il rumine, mais il n’a pas l’ongle fendu; il vous est impur:
And the hare, because it does not chew the cud, and does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.
7 et le porc, car il a l’ongle fendu et le pied complètement divisé, mais il ne rumine nullement; il vous est impur.
And the swine, because this [animal] divides the hoof, and makes claws of the hoof, and it does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.
8 Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair, et vous ne toucherez pas leur corps mort; ils vous sont impurs.
You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcases; these are unclean to you.
9 Vous mangerez de ceci, d’entre tout ce qui est dans les eaux: vous mangerez tout ce qui a des nageoires et des écailles, dans les eaux, dans les mers et dans les rivières.
And these [are] what you shall eat of all that are in the waters: all things that have fins and scales in the waters, and in the seas, and in the brooks, these you shall eat.
10 Et tout ce qui n’a point de nageoires et d’écailles, dans les mers et dans les rivières, de tout ce qui fourmille dans les eaux et de tout être vivant qui est dans les eaux, – vous sera une chose abominable.
And all things which have not fins or scales in the water, or in the seas, and in the brooks, of all which the waters produce, and of every soul living in the water, are an abomination; and they shall be abominations to you.
11 Cela vous sera une chose abominable; vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair, et vous aurez en abomination leur corps mort.
You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall abhor their carcases.
12 Tout ce qui, dans les eaux, n’a point de nageoires et d’écailles, vous sera une chose abominable.
And all things that have not fins or scales of those that are in the waters, these are an abomination to you.
13 Et d’entre les oiseaux, vous aurez ceux-ci en abomination; on n’en mangera point, ce sera une chose abominable: l’aigle, et l’orfraie, et l’aigle de mer,
And these are the things which you shall abhor of birds, and they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle.
14 et le faucon, et le milan, selon son espèce;
And the vulture, and the kite, and the like to it;
15 tout corbeau, selon son espèce;
and the sparrow, and the owl, and the cormorant, and the like to it:
16 et l’autruche femelle, et l’autruche mâle, et la mouette, et l’épervier, selon son espèce;
and every raven, and the birds like it, and the hawk and his like,
17 et le hibou, et le plongeon, et l’ibis,
and the night-raven and the cormorant and the stork,
18 et le cygne, et le pélican, et le vautour,
and the red-bill, and the pelican, and swan,
19 et la cigogne, [et] le héron, selon son espèce, et la huppe, et la chauve-souris.
and the heron, and the lapwing, and the like to it, and the hoopoe and the bat.
20 Tout reptile volant qui marche sur quatre [pieds], vous sera une chose abominable.
And all winged creatures that creep, which go upon four feet, are abominations to you.
21 Seulement de ceci vous mangerez, d’entre tous les reptiles volants qui marchent sur quatre [pieds], ceux qui ont, au-dessus de leurs pieds, des jambes avec lesquelles ils sautent sur la terre.
But these you shall eat of the creeping winged animals, which go upon four feet, which have legs above their feet, to leap with on the earth.
22 Ce sont ici ceux d’entre eux dont vous mangerez: la sauterelle selon son espèce, et le solham selon son espèce, et le khargol selon son espèce, et le khagab selon son espèce.
And these of them you shall eat: the caterpillar and his like, and the attacus and his like, and the cantharus and his like, and the locust and his like.
23 Mais tout reptile volant qui a quatre pieds vous sera une chose abominable;
Every creeping thing from amongst the birds, which has four feet, is an abomination to you.
24 et par eux vous vous rendrez impurs: quiconque touchera leur corps mort sera impur jusqu’au soir;
And by these you shall be defiled; every one that touches their carcases shall be unclean till the evening.
25 et quiconque portera [quelque chose] de leur corps mort lavera ses vêtements, et sera impur jusqu’au soir.
And every one that takes of their dead bodies shall wash his garments, and shall be unclean till the evening.
26 Toute bête qui a l’ongle fendu, mais qui n’a pas le [pied] complètement divisé et ne rumine pas, vous sera impure; quiconque les touchera sera impur.
And whichever amongst the beasts divides the hoof and makes claws, and does not chew the cud, shall be unclean to you; every one that touches their dead bodies shall be unclean till evening.
27 Et tout ce qui marche sur ses pattes, parmi tous les animaux qui marchent sur quatre [pieds], vous sera impur; quiconque touchera leur corps mort sera impur jusqu’au soir;
And every one amongst all the wild beasts that moves upon its fore feet, which goes on all four, is unclean to you; every one that touches their dead bodies shall be unclean till evening.
28 et celui qui aura porté leur corps mort lavera ses vêtements, et sera impur jusqu’au soir. Ils vous seront impurs.
And he that takes of their dead bodies shall wash his garments, and shall be unclean till evening: these are unclean to you.
29 Et ceci vous sera impur parmi les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre: la taupe, et la souris, et le lézard selon son espèce;
And these [are] unclean to you of reptiles upon the earth, the weasel, and the mouse, and the lizard,
30 et le lézard gémissant, et le coakh, et le letaa, et le khometh, et le caméléon.
the ferret, and the chameleon, and the evet, and the newt, and the mole.
31 Ceux-ci vous seront impurs parmi tous les reptiles; quiconque les touchera morts sera impur jusqu’au soir.
These are unclean to you of all the reptiles which are on the earth; every one who touches their carcases shall be unclean till evening.
32 Et tout ce sur quoi il en tombera quand ils seront morts, sera impur: ustensile de bois, vêtement, peau, ou sac, – tout objet qui sert à un usage quelconque, sera mis dans l’eau, et sera impur jusqu’au soir; alors il sera net;
And on whatever one of their dead bodies shall fall it shall be unclean; whatever wooden vessel, or garment, or skin, or sack it may be, every vessel in which work should be done, shall be dipped in water, and shall be unclean till evening; and [then] it shall be clean.
33 et tout vase de terre dans lequel il en tombe quelque chose, … tout ce qui est dedans, sera impur, et vous casserez le [vase];
And every earthen vessel into which one of these things shall fall, whatever is inside it, shall be unclean, and it shall be broken.
34 et tout aliment qu’on mange, sur lequel il sera venu de [cette] eau, sera impur; et tout breuvage qu’on boit, dans quelque vase que ce soit, sera impur;
And all food that is eaten, on which water shall come [from such a vessel], shall be unclean; and every beverage which is drunk in any [such] vessel, shall be unclean.
35 et tout ce sur quoi tombe quelque chose de leur corps mort, sera impur; le four et le foyer seront détruits: ils sont impurs, et ils vous seront impurs;
And every thing on which there shall fall of their dead bodies shall be unclean; ovens and stands for jars shall be broken down: these are unclean, and they shall be unclean to you.
36 mais une fontaine ou un puits, un amas d’eaux, sera net. Mais celui qui touchera leur corps mort sera impur.
Only [if the water be] of fountains of water, or a pool, or confluence of water, it shall be clean; but he that touches their carcases shall be unclean.
37 Et s’il tombe quelque chose de leur corps mort sur une semence qui se sème, elle sera pure;
And if one of their carcases should fall upon any sowing seed which shall be sown, it shall be clean.
38 mais si on avait mis de l’eau sur la semence, et qu’il tombe sur elle quelque chose de leur corps mort, elle vous sera impure.
But if water be poured on any seed, and one of their dead bodies fall upon it, it is unclean to you.
39 – Et s’il meurt une des bêtes qui vous servent d’aliment, celui qui en touchera le corps mort sera impur jusqu’au soir;
And if one of the cattle die, which it is lawful for you to eat, he that touches their carcases shall be unclean till evening.
40 et celui qui mangera de son corps mort lavera ses vêtements, et sera impur jusqu’au soir; et celui qui portera son corps mort lavera ses vêtements, et sera impur jusqu’au soir.
And he that eats of their carcases shall wash his garments, and be unclean till evening; and he that carries any of their carcases shall wash his garments, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean till evening.
41 Et tout reptile qui rampe sur la terre sera une chose abominable; on n’en mangera pas.
And every reptile that creeps on the earth, this shall be an abomination to you; it shall not be eaten.
42 De tout ce qui marche sur le ventre, et de tout ce qui marche sur quatre [pieds], et de tout ce qui a beaucoup de pieds, parmi tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre, vous n’en mangerez pas; car c’est une chose abominable.
And every [animal] that creeps on its belly, and every one that goes on four [feet] continually, which abounds with feet amongst all the reptiles creeping upon the earth—you shall not eat it, for it is an abomination to you.
43 Ne rendez pas vos âmes abominables par aucun reptile qui rampe, et ne vous rendez pas impurs par eux, de sorte que vous soyez impurs par eux.
And you shall not defile your souls with any of the reptiles that creep upon the earth, and you shall not be polluted with them, and you shall not be unclean by them.
44 Car je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu: et vous vous sanctifierez, et vous serez saints, car je suis saint; et vous ne rendrez pas vos âmes impures par aucun reptile qui se meut sur la terre.
For I am the Lord your God; and you shall be sanctified, and you shall be holy, because I the Lord your God am holy; and you shall not defile your souls with any of the reptiles creeping upon the earth.
45 Car je suis l’Éternel qui vous ai fait monter du pays d’Égypte, afin que je sois votre Dieu: et vous serez saints, car je suis saint.
For I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God; and you shall be holy, for I the Lord am holy.
46 Telle est la loi touchant les bêtes et les oiseaux, et tout être vivant qui se meut dans les eaux, et tout être qui rampe sur la terre;
This is the law concerning beasts and birds and every living creature moving in the water, and every living creature creeping on the earth;
47 afin de discerner entre ce qui est impur et ce qui est pur, et entre l’animal qu’on mange et l’animal qu’on ne mangera pas.
to distinguish between the unclean and the clean; and between those that bring forth alive, such as should be eaten, and those that bring forth alive, such as should not be eaten.
