Juges 7
1 Et Jerubbaal, qui est Gédéon, se leva de bonne heure, et tout le peuple qui était avec lui, et ils campèrent près de la source de Harod; et il avait le camp de Madian au nord, du côté de la colline de Moré, dans la vallée.
And he rose early Jerub-Baal that [is] Gideon and all the people which [was] with him and they encamped at En Harod and [the] camp of Midian it was of him from [the] north from [the] hill of Moreh in the valley.
2 Et l’Éternel dit à Gédéon: Le peuple qui est avec toi est trop nombreux, pour que je livre Madian en leur main, de peur qu’Israël ne se glorifie contre moi, disant: Ma main m’a sauvé.
And he said Yahweh to Gideon [is too] numerous the people which [is] with you than to give I Midian in hand their lest it should glorify itself over me Israel saying hand my it has delivered me.
3 Et maintenant, crie aux oreilles du peuple, disant: Quiconque est peureux et tremble, qu’il s’en retourne et s’éloigne de la montagne de Galaad. Et 22 000 [hommes] du peuple s’en retournèrent; et il en resta 10 000.
And therefore proclaim please in [the] ears of the people saying who? [is] fearful and trembling let him go back and he may go from [the] mountain of Gilead and it returned of the people twenty and two thousand and ten thousand they remained.
4 Et l’Éternel dit à Gédéon: Le peuple est encore nombreux; fais-les descendre vers l’eau, et là je te les épurerai; et il arrivera que celui dont je te dirai: Celui-ci ira avec toi, celui-là ira avec toi; et que chacun de qui je te dirai: Celui-ci n’ira pas avec toi, celui-là n’ira pas.
And he said Yahweh to Gideon still the people [is] numerous bring down them to the water so I may test it for you there and it will be [the one] whom I will say to you this [one] - he will go with you he he will go with you and every [one] whom I will say to you this [one] not he will go with you he not he will go.
5 Et il fit descendre le peuple vers l’eau. Et l’Éternel dit à Gédéon: Quiconque lapera l’eau avec sa langue, comme lape le chien, tu le mettras à part, et aussi tous ceux qui se courberont sur leurs genoux pour boire.
And he brought down the people to the water. And he said Yahweh to Gideon every [one] who he will lap up with tongue his some of the water just as it laps up the dog you will set him alone and every [one] who he will bow down on knees his to drink.
6 Et le nombre de ceux qui lapèrent dans leur main [en la portant] à leur bouche, fut de 300 hommes; et tout le reste du peuple se courba sur ses genoux pour boire l’eau.
And it was [the] number of those [who] lapped with hand their to mouth their three hundred man and all [the] remainder of the people they bowed down on knees their to drink water.
7 Et l’Éternel dit à Gédéon: Par les 300 hommes qui ont lapé [l’eau] je vous sauverai, et je livrerai Madian en ta main; mais que tout le peuple s’en aille, chacun en son lieu.
And he said Yahweh to Gideon by three hundred the man who lapped I will deliver you and I will give Midian in hand your and all the people let them go each to own place his.
8 Et les [300 hommes] prirent en leurs mains les vivres du peuple et ses trompettes. Et [Gédéon] renvoya tous les hommes d’Israël, chacun à sa tente, et retint les 300 hommes. Or le camp de Madian était au-dessous de lui, dans la vallée.
And they took provision[s] the people in hand their and trumpets their and every man of Israel he sent away each to tents his and on three hundred the man he kept hold and [the] camp of Midian it was to him from under in the valley.
9 Et il arriva, cette nuit-là, que l’Éternel lui dit: Lève-toi; descends au camp, car je l’ai livré en ta main;
And it was in the night that and he said to him Yahweh arise go down in the camp for I have given it in hand your.
10 et si tu crains d’y descendre, descends vers le camp, toi et Pura, ton jeune homme;
And if [are] afraid you to go down go down you and Purah servant your to the camp.
11 et tu entendras ce qu’ils diront, et ensuite tes mains seront fortifiées et tu descendras au camp. Et il descendit, lui et Pura, son jeune homme, aux avant-postes des hommes armés qui étaient dans le camp.
And you will hear what? will they speak and after they will be strong hands your and you will go down in the camp and he went down he and Purah servant his to [the] edge of those arrayed for battle who [were] in the camp.
12 Et Madian et Amalek et tous les fils de l’orient s’étendaient dans la vallée, nombreux comme des sauterelles; et leurs chameaux étaient sans nombre, en multitude comme le sable qui est sur le bord de la mer.
And Midian and Amalek and all [the] people of [the] east [were] lying in the valley like locust[s] for multitude and [belonged] to camels their not number like the sand that [is] on [the] shore of the sea for multitude.
13 Et Gédéon arriva, et voici, un homme racontait un songe à son compagnon; et il disait: Voici, j’ai songé un songe; et voici, un gâteau de pain d’orge roulait dans le camp de Madian, et il arriva jusqu’à la tente et la heurta, et elle tomba; et il la retourna sens dessus dessous, et la tente était là renversée.
And he came Gideon and there! a man [was] recounting to neighbor his a dream and he said here! a dream I have dreamed and there! (a round loaf of *Q(K)*) bread of barley [was] tumbling in [the] camp of Midian and it came to the tent and it struck it and it fell and it overturned it upwards and it fell the tent.
14 Et son compagnon répondit et dit: Ce n’est pas autre chose que l’épée de Gédéon, fils de Joas, homme d’Israël: Dieu a livré Madian et tout le camp en sa main.
And he answered neighbor his and he said not this [is] except [the] sword of Gideon [the] son of Joash a man of Israel he has given God in hand his Midian and all the army.
15 Et il arriva que, lorsque Gédéon entendit le récit du songe et son interprétation, il se prosterna. Et il retourna au camp d’Israël, et dit: Levez-vous, car l’Éternel a livré le camp de Madian en votre main.
And it was when heard Gideon [the] recounting of the dream and interpretation its and he bowed down and he returned to [the] camp of Israel and he said arise for he has given Yahweh in hand your [the] camp of Midian.
16 Et il divisa les 300 hommes en trois corps, et il leur mit à tous des trompettes à la main, et des cruches vides, et des torches dans les cruches.
And he divided three hundred the man three companies and he put trumpets in [the] hand of all of them and jars empty and torches in [the] midst of the jars.
17 Et il leur dit: Regardez ce que je vais faire, et faites de même; voici, quand j’arriverai au bout du camp, alors ce que je ferai, vous le ferez de même;
And he said to them from me you will see and thus you will do and here! I [will be] coming in [the] edge of the camp and it will be just as I will do so you will do!
18 et quand je sonnerai de la trompette, moi et tous ceux qui sont avec moi, vous aussi vous sonnerez des trompettes autour de tout le camp, et vous direz: Pour l’Éternel et pour Gédéon!
And I will give a blast on the trumpet I and all who [are] with me and you will give a blast on the trumpets also you all around all the camp and you will say for Yahweh and for Gideon.
19 Et Gédéon et les 100 hommes qui étaient avec lui arrivèrent au bout du camp, au commencement de la veille du milieu [de la nuit]; on venait seulement de placer les gardes. Et ils sonnèrent des trompettes, et brisèrent les cruches qu’ils avaient à la main;
And he went Gideon and one hundred man who [were] with him in [the] edge of the camp [the] beginning of the watch middle just as certainly they had stationed the watchmen and they gave a blast on the trumpets and they smashed the jars which [were] in hand their.
20 et les trois corps sonnèrent des trompettes, et brisèrent les cruches: ils tenaient dans leur main gauche les torches, et dans leur main droite les trompettes pour sonner, et criaient: L’épée de l’Éternel et de Gédéon!
And they gave a blast [the] three the companies on the trumpets and they broke the jars and they took hold in [the] hand of left their on the torches and in [the] hand of right their the trumpets to give a blast and they called out a sword for Yahweh and for Gideon.
21 Et ils se tenaient chacun à sa place autour du camp; et tout le camp se mit à courir, et à pousser des cris, et à fuir.
And they stood everyone in place his round about the camp and it ran all the army and they shouted in distress (and they fled. *Q(K)*)
22 Et les 300 hommes sonnaient des trompettes; et l’Éternel tourna l’épée de chacun contre son compagnon, dans tout le camp. Et le camp s’enfuit jusqu’à Beth-Sitta, vers Tseréra, jusqu’au bord d’Abel-Mehola, près de Tabbath.
And they gave a blast [the] three hundred the trumpets and he set Yahweh [the] sword of each on neighbor his and on all the army and it fled the army to Beth Shittah towards Zererah to [the] border of Abel Meholah at Tabbath.
23 Et les hommes d’Israël se rassemblèrent, de Nephthali, et d’Aser, et de tout Manassé, et poursuivirent Madian.
And it was summoned [the] man of Israel from Naphtali and from Asher and from all Manasseh and they pursued after Midian.
24 Et Gédéon envoya des messagers dans toute la montagne d’Éphraïm, pour dire: Descendez à la rencontre de Madian, et enlevez-leur les eaux jusqu’à Beth-Bara, et le Jourdain. Et tous les hommes d’Éphraïm se rassemblèrent, et s’emparèrent des eaux jusqu’à Beth-Bara, et du Jourdain.
And messengers he sent Gideon in all [the] hill country of Ephraim saying come down to meet Midian and capture to them the waters to Beth Barah and the Jordan and he was summoned every man of Ephraim and they captured the waters to Beth Barah and the Jordan.
25 Et ils prirent les deux princes de Madian, Oreb et Zeëb; et ils tuèrent Oreb au rocher d’Oreb, et ils tuèrent Zeëb au pressoir de Zeëb. Et ils poursuivirent Madian, et apportèrent les têtes d’Oreb et de Zeëb, à Gédéon, de l’autre côté du Jourdain.
And they captured [the] two [the] commanders of Midian Oreb and Zeeb and they killed Oreb at [the] rock of Oreb and Zeeb they killed at [the] winepress of Zeeb and they pursued Midian and [the] head of Oreb and Zeeb they brought to Gideon from [the] other side of the Jordan.
