Josué 21
1 Et les chefs des pères des Lévites s’approchèrent d’Éléazar, le sacrificateur, et de Josué, fils de Nun, et des chefs des pères des tribus des fils d’Israël,
Then came near the heads of the divisions of the Levites unto Elazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel;
2 et leur parlèrent à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, disant: L’Éternel a commandé par Moïse qu’on nous donne des villes pour y habiter, et leurs banlieues pour nos bêtes.
And they spoke unto them at Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, saying, The Lord commanded by the hand of Moses to give unto us cities to dwell in, with the open spaces thereof for our cattle.
3 Et les fils d’Israël donnèrent de leur héritage aux Lévites, selon le commandement de l’Éternel, ces villes-ci, avec leurs banlieues:
And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites from their inheritance, at the order of the Lord, these cities and their open spaces.
4 Et le lot échut aux familles des Kehathites. Et il y eut, par le sort, pour les fils d’Aaron, le sacrificateur, d’entre les Lévites, 13 villes de la tribu de Juda, et de la tribu des Siméonites, et de la tribu de Benjamin;
And the lot came out for the families of the Kehathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, obtained from the tribe of Judah, and from the tribe of Simeon, and from the tribe of Benjamin, by lot, thirteen cities.
5 et pour les autres fils de Kehath, dix villes des familles de la tribu d’Éphraïm, et de la tribu de Dan, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, par le sort;
And the rest of the children of Kehath obtained from the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and from the tribe of Dan, and from the half tribe of Menasseh, by lot, ten cities.
6 et pour les fils de Guershon, 13 villes des familles de la tribu d’Issacar, et de la tribu d’Aser, et de la tribu de Nephthali, et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, en Basan, par le sort;
And the children of Gershon obtained from the families of the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half tribe of Menasseh in Bashan, by lot, thirteen cities.
7 [et] pour les fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, douze villes de la tribu de Ruben, et de la tribu de Gad, et de la tribu de Zabulon.
The children of Merari after their families obtained from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8 Et les fils d’Israël donnèrent aux Lévites, par le sort, ces villes-là et leurs banlieues, comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé par Moïse.
And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites these cities with their open spaces, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, by lot.
9 Et ils donnèrent, de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon, ces villes-ci, qu’on nomma par leurs noms,
And they gave from the tribe of the children of Judah, and from the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are called by name.
10 et qui furent pour les fils d’Aaron, des familles des Kehathites, d’entre les fils de Lévi; car le premier lot fut pour eux.
And the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kehathites, of the children of Levi, obtained them; —for they had the first lot.
11 On leur donna: Kiriath-Arba ([Arba était] père d’Anak), c’est Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda, et sa banlieue autour d’elle.
And they gave unto them Kiryath-arba', [the father of 'Anak, ] which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah, with the open spaces thereof round about it;
12 Mais la campagne de la ville et ses hameaux, ils les donnèrent à Caleb, fils de Jephunné, pour sa possession.
But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Yephunneh for his possession.
13 Et ils donnèrent aux fils d’Aaron, le sacrificateur, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Hébron et sa banlieue; et Libna et sa banlieue,
And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave the city of refuge for the manslayer, Hebron with its open spaces, and Libnah with its open spaces,
14 et Jatthir et sa banlieue, et Eshtemoa et sa banlieue,
And Yattir with its open spaces, and Eshtemoa' with its open spaces.
15 et Holon et sa banlieue, et Debir et sa banlieue,
And Cholon with its open spaces, and Debir with its open spaces,
16 et Aïn et sa banlieue, et Jutta et sa banlieue, [et] Beth-Shémesh et sa banlieue, neuf villes de ces deux tribus-là;
And 'Ayin with its open spaces, and Yuttah with its open spaces, and Beth-shemesh with its open spaces: nine cities from those two tribes.
17 et de la tribu de Benjamin: Gabaon et sa banlieue, Guéba et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Benjamin, Gib'on with its open spaces, Geba' with its open spaces,
18 Anathoth et sa banlieue, et Almon et sa banlieue, quatre villes.
'Anathoth with its open spaces, and 'Almon with its open spaces: four cities.
19 Toutes les villes des fils d’Aaron, sacrificateurs: 13 villes et leurs banlieues.
All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their open spaces.
20 Et pour les familles des fils de Kehath, les autres Lévites d’entre les fils de Kehath, les villes de leur lot furent de la tribu d’Éphraïm.
And the families of the children of Kehath, the Levites, who remained of the children of Kehath, obtained the cities of their lot from the tribe of Ephraim.
21 Ils leur donnèrent la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Sichem et sa banlieue, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm; et Guézer et sa banlieue,
And they gave to them the city of refuge for the manslayer, Shechem with its open spaces in the mountain of Ephraim, and Gezer with its open spaces,
22 et Kibtsaïm et sa banlieue, et Beth-Horon et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
And Kibzayim with its open spaces, and Beth-choron with its open spaces: four cities.
23 et de la tribu de Dan: Eltheké et sa banlieue, Guibbethon et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its open spaces, Gibbethon with its open spaces,
24 Ajalon et sa banlieue, Gath-Rimmon et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
Ayalon with its open spaces, Gath-rimmon with its open spaces: four cities.
25 et de la demi-tribu de Manassé: Thaanac et sa banlieue, et Gath-Rimmon et sa banlieue, deux villes.
And from the half tribe of Menasseh, Ta'nach with its open spaces, and Gath-rimmon with its open spaces: two cities.
26 En tout dix villes et leurs banlieues, pour les familles des autres fils de Kehath.
All the cities were ten with their open spaces for the families of the children of Kehath that remained.
27 Et pour les fils de Guershon, d’entre les familles des Lévites, il y eut, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Golan, en Basan, et sa banlieue; et Beeshtra et sa banlieue, deux villes;
And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, [they gave] from the other half tribe of Menasseh the city of refuge for the manslayer, Golan in Bashan with its open spaces, and Be'eshterah with its open spaces: two cities.
28 et de la tribu d’Issacar: Kishion et sa banlieue, Dabrath et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Issachar, Kishyon with its open spaces, Daberath with its open spaces,
29 Jarmuth et sa banlieue, En-Gannim et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
Yarmuth with its open spaces, 'En-gannim with its open spaces: four cities.
30 et de la tribu d’Aser: Misheal et sa banlieue, Abdon et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its open spaces, Abdon with its open spaces.
31 Helkath et sa banlieue, et Rehob et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
Chelkath with its open spaces, and Rechob with its open spaces: four cities.
32 et de la tribu de Nephthali, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Kédesh, en Galilée, et sa banlieue; et Hammoth-Dor et sa banlieue, et Karthan et sa banlieue, trois villes.
And from the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Kedesh in Galilee with its open spaces, and Chammothdor with its open spaces, and Karthan with its open spaces: three cities.
33 Toutes les villes des Guershonites, selon leurs familles: 13 villes et leurs banlieues.
All the cities of the Gershunites according to their families were thirteen cities with their open spaces.
34 Et pour les familles des fils de Merari, les autres Lévites, [on donna], de la tribu de Zabulon: Jokneam et sa banlieue, Kartha et sa banlieue,
And unto the families of the children of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, [they gave] from the tribe of Zebulun, Yokne'am with its open spaces, and Karthah with its open spaces,
35 Dimna et sa banlieue, Nahalal et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
Dimnah with its open spaces, Nahalal with its open spaces: four cities.
36 et de la tribu de Ruben: Bétser et sa banlieue, et Jahtsa et sa banlieue,
37 Kedémoth et sa banlieue, et Méphaath et sa banlieue, quatre villes;
38 et de la tribu de Gad, la ville de refuge pour l’homicide: Ramoth, en Galaad, et sa banlieue; et Mahanaïm et sa banlieue,
And from the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Ramoth in Gil'ad with its open spaces, and Machanayim with its open spaces,
39 Hesbon et sa banlieue, Jahzer et sa banlieue: en tout, quatre villes.
Cheshbon with its open spaces, Ya'zer with its open spaces: four cities in all.
40 Toutes ces villes étaient aux fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, – le reste des familles des Lévites; leur lot fut de douze villes.
All the cities for the children of Merari after their families, they who were remaining of the families of the Levites, even their lot was twelve cities.
41 Toutes les villes des Lévites, au milieu de la possession des fils d’Israël: 48 villes et leurs banlieues.
All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their open spaces.
42 Chacune de ces villes avait sa banlieue autour d’elle; il en était ainsi pour toutes ces villes.
These cities were every one with their open spaces round about them: thus it was with all these cities.
43 Et l’Éternel donna à Israël tout le pays qu’il avait juré de donner à leurs pères; et ils le possédèrent, et y habitèrent.
And the Lord gave unto Israel all the land which he had sworn to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
44 Et l’Éternel leur donna du repos à l’entour, selon tout ce qu’il avait juré à leurs pères; et, de tous leurs ennemis, pas un homme ne tint devant eux; l’Éternel livra tous leurs ennemis entre leurs mains.
And the Lord gave them rest round about, all just as he had sworn unto their fathers: and there stood not up before them a man of all their enemies; all their enemies the Lord delivered into their hand.
45 Il ne tomba pas un mot de toutes les bonnes paroles que l’Éternel avait dites à la maison d’Israël: tout arriva.
There failed not aught of all the good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel: it all came to pass.
