Josué 18
1 Et toute l’assemblée des fils d’Israël se réunit à Silo, et ils y dressèrent la tente d’assignation; et le pays leur fut assujetti.
And all the sons of Israel gathered together at Shiloh, and there they stationed the Tabernacle of the Testimony. And the land was subjected to them.
2 Et il restait parmi les fils d’Israël sept tribus auxquelles on n’avait pas encore distribué leur héritage.
But there remained seven tribes of the sons of Israel which had not yet received their possessions.
3 Et Josué dit aux fils d’Israël: Jusques à quand vous porterez-vous lâchement à aller prendre possession du pays que l’Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, vous a donné?
And Joshua said to them: “For how long will you draw back in idleness, and not enter to possess the land, which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given to you?
4 Choisissez-vous trois hommes par tribu, et je les enverrai; et ils se lèveront, et ils parcourront le pays, et ils en feront le relevé selon la proportion de leur héritage, puis ils viendront vers moi.
Select three men from each tribe, so that I may send them, and they may go forth and circle through the land, and may describe it according to the number of each multitude, and may bring back to me what they have written down.
5 Ils le diviseront en sept parts; Juda se tiendra dans ses limites au midi, et la maison de Joseph se tiendra dans ses limites au nord;
Divide the land for yourselves into seven parts. Let Judah be its bounds on the southern side, and the house of Joseph to the north.
6 et vous ferez le relevé du pays en sept parts, et vous me l’apporterez ici; et je jetterai ici le sort pour vous devant l’Éternel, notre Dieu.
The land that is in the middle, between these, write it down in seven parts. And you shall come to me, so that I may cast lots for you about this, before the Lord your God.
7 Mais il n’y a point de part pour les Lévites au milieu de vous, car la sacrificature de l’Éternel est leur héritage. Et Gad, et Ruben, et la demi-tribu de Manassé, ont reçu au-delà du Jourdain, vers le levant, leur héritage, que Moïse, serviteur de l’Éternel, leur a donné.
But there is no portion among you for the Levites. Instead, the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance. And Gad and Reuben, and the one half tribe of Manasseh, have already received their possessions beyond the Jordan in the eastern region, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave to them.”
8 Et les hommes se levèrent et s’en allèrent; et Josué commanda à ceux qui s’en allaient faire le relevé du pays, disant: Allez et parcourez le pays, et faites-en le relevé, et revenez auprès de moi, et je jetterai ici le sort pour vous devant l’Éternel, à Silo.
And when the men had risen up, so that they might go out to describe the land, Joshua instructed them, saying, “Circle through the land, and describe it, and return to me, so that I may cast lots for you about this, before the Lord, in Shiloh.”
9 Et les hommes s’en allèrent, et traversèrent le pays, et en firent le relevé dans un livre, en sept parts, selon les villes; puis ils vinrent vers Josué, au camp, à Silo.
And so they went out. And surveying it, they divided it into seven parts, writing it in a book. And they returned to Joshua, to the camp at Shiloh.
10 Et Josué jeta le sort pour eux, à Silo, devant l’Éternel, et Josué répartit là le pays aux fils d’Israël, selon leurs distributions.
And he cast lots before the Lord, at Shiloh, and he divided the land to the sons of Israel, in seven parts.
11 Et le sort tomba pour la tribu des fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles. Et le territoire de leur lot leur échut entre les fils de Juda et les fils de Joseph.
And the first lot went to the sons of Benjamin, by their families, so that they would possess the land between the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.
12 Et leur frontière, du côté du nord, partait du Jourdain; et la frontière montait à côté de Jéricho, vers le nord, et montait dans la montagne vers l’occident, et aboutissait au désert de Beth-Aven;
And their border toward the north was from the Jordan, continuing on, near the side of Jericho in the northern region, and from there, ascending toward the west to the mountains, and extending to the wilderness of Bethaven.
13 et la frontière passait de là à Luz, au côté méridional de Luz, qui est Béthel; et la frontière descendait à Ataroth-Addar, près de la montagne qui est au midi de Beth-Horon la basse.
And it continues to the south beside Luz, which is Bethel. And it descends into Ataroth-addar, at the mountain which is to the south of lower Beth-horon.
14 – Et la frontière fut tracée, et elle faisait un détour du côté occidental vers le midi, depuis la montagne qui est en face de Beth-Horon, vers le midi, et aboutissait à Kiriath-Baal, qui est Kiriath-Jéarim, ville des fils de Juda. C’est là le côté de l’occident.
And it turns aside, circling toward the sea, to the south of the mountain which looks out toward Beth-horon, toward the southwest. And its exits are toward Kiriath-baal, which is also called Kiriath-jearim, a city of the sons of Judah. This is their region, toward the sea, in the west.
15 – Et le côté méridional partait de l’extrémité de Kiriath-Jéarim; et la frontière sortait vers l’occident, et elle sortait vers la source des eaux de Nephtoah.
But to the south, the border goes on from the part of Kiriath-jearim toward the sea, and it continues as far as the Fountain of the waters of Nephtoah.
16 Et la frontière descendait jusqu’au bout de la montagne qui est en face de la vallée de Ben-Hinnom, qui est dans la vallée des Rephaïm, vers le nord, et elle descendait la vallée de Hinnom à côté de Jébus, au midi, et descendait à En-Roguel.
And it descends to that part of the mountain which looks out toward the Valley of the sons of Hinnom. And it is opposite the northern region, in the furthest part of the Valley of the Rephaim. And it descends into Geennom, (that is, the Valley of Hinnom, ) near the side of the Jebusite toward the south. And it extends to the Fountain of Rogel,
17 Et elle était tracée vers le nord, et sortait par En-Shémesh, et sortait à Gueliloth, qui est vis-à-vis de la montée d’Adummim, et descendait à la pierre de Bohan, fils de Ruben,
crossing from there to the north, and going out to En-Shemesh, that is, to the Fountain of the Sun.
18 et passait au côté nord, qui est vis-à-vis d’Araba, et descendait à Araba.
And it passes through to the hills that are opposite the region of the Ascent of Adummim. And it descends to Abenboen, that is, so the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben. And it continues on, at the northern side, to the plains. And it descends into the flatlands.
19 Et la frontière passait à côté de Beth-Hogla, au nord; et la frontière aboutissait à la pointe de la mer Salée, vers le nord, à l’extrémité méridionale du Jourdain. C’est là la frontière du midi.
And it advances before Beth-hoglah, to the north. And its exits are to the north, opposite the bay of the very salty sea, in the southern region at the end of the Jordan,
20 – Et le Jourdain formait la limite du côté de l’orient. Tel fut l’héritage des fils de Benjamin, selon ses frontières, à l’entour, selon leurs familles.
which is its border to the east. This is the possession of the sons of Benjamin, with their borders all around, and by their families.
21 Et les villes de la tribu des fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles, étaient: Jéricho, et Beth-Hogla, et Émek-Ketsits,
And their cities were: Jericho and Beth-hoglah and the Abrupt Valley,
22 et Beth-Araba, et Tsemaraïm, et Béthel,
Beth-arabah and Zemaraim and Bethel,
23 et Avvim, et Para, et Ophra,
and Avvim and Parah and Ophrah,
24 et Kephar-Ammonaï, et Ophni, et Guéba: douze villes et leurs hameaux;
the town of Ammoni, and Ophni, and Geba: twelve cities, and their villages;
25 – Gabaon, et Rama, et Beéroth,
Gibeon and Ramah and Beeroth,
26 et Mitspé, et Kephira, et Motsa,
and Mizpeh and Chephirah and Mozah,
27 et Rékem, et Jirpeël, et Thareala,
and Rekem, Irpeel, and Taralah,
28 et Tséla, Éleph, et Jébus, qui est Jérusalem, Guibha, Kiriath: 14 villes et leurs hameaux. Tel fut l’héritage des fils de Benjamin, selon leurs familles.
and Zela, Haeleph, and Jebus, which is Jerusalem, Gibeah and Kiriath: fourteen cities, and their villages. This is the possession of the sons of Benjamin, according to their families.
