Job 32
1 Et ces trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job, parce qu’il était juste à ses propres yeux.
And his three friends also ceased any longer to answer Job: for Job was righteous before them.
2 Alors s’enflamma la colère d’Élihu, fils de Barakeël, le Buzite, de la famille de Ram: sa colère s’enflamma contre Job, parce qu’il se justifiait lui-même plutôt que Dieu;
Then Elius the son of Barachiel, the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, of the country of Ausis, was angered: and he was very angry with Job, because he justified himself before the Lord.
3 et sa colère s’enflamma contre ses trois amis, parce qu’ils ne trouvaient pas de réponse et qu’ils condamnaient Job.
And he was also very angry with [his] three friends, because they were not able to return answers to Job, yet set him down for an ungodly man.
4 Et Élihu avait attendu que Job ait cessé de parler, parce qu’ils étaient plus avancés en jours que lui.
But Elius had forborne to give an answer to Job, because they were older than he.
5 Et Élihu vit qu’il n’y avait point de réponse dans la bouche des trois hommes, et sa colère s’enflamma.
And Elius saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men; and he was angered in his wrath.
6 Et Élihu, fils de Barakeël, le Buzite, répondit et dit: Moi, je suis jeune, et vous êtes des vieillards; c’est pourquoi je redoutais et je craignais de vous faire connaître ce que je sais.
And Elius the Buzite the son of Barachiel answered and said, I am younger in age, and you are elder, therefore I kept silence, fearing to declare to you my own knowledge.
7 Je disais: Les jours parleront, et le grand nombre des années donnera à connaître la sagesse.
And I said, It is not time that speaks, though in many years [men] know wisdom:
8 Toutefois il y a un esprit qui est dans les hommes, et le souffle du Tout-puissant leur donne de l’intelligence:
but there is a spirit in mortals; and the inspiration of the Almighty is that which teaches.
9 Ce ne sont pas les grands qui sont sages, ni les anciens qui discernent ce qui est juste.
The long-lived are not wise [as such]; neither do the aged know judgment.
10 C’est pourquoi je dis: Écoute-moi; moi aussi je ferai connaître ce que je sais.
Therefore I said, Hear me, and I will tell you what I know.
11 Voici, j’ai attendu vos paroles, j’ai écouté vos raisonnements, jusqu’à ce que vous ayez examiné le sujet;
Listen to my words; for I will speak in your hearing, until you shall have tried [the matter] with words:
12 Je vous ai donné toute mon attention: et voici, il n’y a eu personne d’entre vous qui convainque Job, qui réponde à ses paroles, –
and I shall understand as far as you; and, behold, there was no one of you that answered Job his words in argument,
13 Afin que vous ne disiez pas: Nous avons trouvé la sagesse. Dieu le fera céder, et non pas l’homme.
lest you should say, We have found that we have added wisdom to the Lord.
14 Or il ne m’a pas adressé de discours, et je ne lui répondrai pas avec vos paroles.
And you have commissioned a man to speak such words.
15 Ils ont été confondus, ils ne répondent plus; les paroles leur sont ôtées.
They were afraid, they answered no longer; they gave up their speaking.
16 J’ai attendu, car ils ne parlaient plus, car ils se tenaient là, ils ne répondaient plus;
I waited, (for I had not spoken, ) because they stood still, they answered not.
17 Je répondrai, moi aussi, à mon tour; je ferai connaître, moi aussi, ce que je sais;
And Elius continued, and said, I will again speak,
18 Car je suis plein de paroles, l’esprit qui est au-dedans de moi me presse.
for I am full of words, for the spirit of my belly destroys me.
19 Voici, mon ventre est comme un vin qui n’a pas été ouvert; il éclate comme des outres neuves.
And my belly is as a skin of sweet wine, bound up [and] ready to burst; or as a brazier's laboring bellows.
20 Je parlerai et je respirerai; j’ouvrirai mes lèvres et je répondrai;
I will speak, that I may open my lips and relieve myself.
21 Je ne ferai pas acception de personnes, et je ne flatterai aucun homme;
For truly I will not be awed because of man, nor indeed will I be confounded before a mortal.
22 Car je ne sais pas flatter: celui qui m’a fait m’emporterait bientôt.
For I know not how to respect persons: and if otherwise, even the moths would eat me.
