Jérémie 50
1 La parole que l’Éternel dit sur Babylone, sur le pays des Chaldéens, par Jérémie le prophète:
The word which he spoke Yahweh concerning Babylon concerning [the] land of [the] Chaldeans by [the] hand of Jeremiah the prophet.
2 Annoncez parmi les nations, et faites-le entendre, et élevez l’étendard; faites-le entendre, ne le cachez pas; dites: Babylone est prise, Bel est honteux; Merodac est brisé; ses idoles sont honteuses, ses images sont brisées.
Declare among the nations and make a proclamation and lift up a standard make a proclamation may not you hide [it] say it will be captured Babylon it will be put to shame Bel it will be shattered Marduk they will be put to shame images its they will be shattered idols its.
3 Car une nation est montée du nord contre elle; elle a mis en désolation son pays, et il n’y aura plus là d’habitant: tant les hommes que les bêtes se sont enfuis, ils s’en sont allés.
For it will go up on it a nation from [the] north it it will make land its into a waste and not he will be an inhabitant in it from humankind and unto animal[s] they will take flight they will go.
4 En ces jours-là et en ce temps-là, dit l’Éternel, les fils d’Israël viendront, eux et les fils de Juda ensemble; ils iront, marchant et pleurant, et ils chercheront l’Éternel leur Dieu.
In the days those and at the time that [the] utterance of Yahweh they will come [the] people of Israel they and [the] people of Judah together going and weeping they will go and Yahweh God their they will seek.
5 Ils s’enquerront de Sion; vers elle leur face [sera tournée]: Venez, attachons-nous à l’Éternel par une alliance éternelle qui ne sera pas oubliée.
Zion they will ask for [will be] [the] direction hither faces their come and they will join themselves to Yahweh a covenant of perpetuity not it will be forgotten.
6 Mon peuple est un troupeau perdu; leurs pasteurs les ont fait errer, les égarant sur les montagnes; ils sont allés de montagne en colline, ils ont oublié leur gîte.
Sheep lost (they have become *Q(K)*) people my shepherds their they have caused to wander them mountains (they have led away them *Q(K)*) from mountain to hill they have gone they have forgotten resting place their.
7 Tous ceux qui les ont trouvés les ont dévorés; et leurs ennemis disent: Nous ne sommes pas coupables, parce qu’ils ont péché contre l’Éternel, contre la demeure de la justice, contre l’Éternel, l’attente de leurs pères.
All [those who] found them they devoured them and opponents their they said not we are guilty because that they have sinned to Yahweh [the] habitation of righteousness and [the] hope of ancestors their Yahweh.
8 Fuyez du milieu de Babylone, et sortez du pays des Chaldéens, et soyez comme les boucs [qui vont] devant le troupeau.
Take flight from [the] midst of Babylon and from [the] land of [the] Chaldeans (go forth *Q(K)*) and be like male goats before [the] flock.
9 Car voici, du pays du nord je réveillerai et je ferai monter contre Babylone un rassemblement de grandes nations qui se rangeront contre elle: de là elle sera prise. Leurs flèches sont comme celles d’un habile homme fort; pas une ne reviendra à vide.
For here! I [am] about to rouse and [am] about to bring up on Babylon an assembly of nations great from a land of [the] north and they will line up to it from there it will be captured arrows its [will be] like a warrior skillful [who] not he returns empty.
10 Et la Chaldée sera un butin; tous ceux qui la pilleront seront rassasiés, dit l’Éternel;
And it will become Chaldea plunder all [those who] plunder it they will be satisfied [the] utterance of Yahweh.
11 parce que vous vous êtes réjouis, parce que vous vous êtes égayés, vous qui avez pillé mon héritage, parce que vous avez bondi comme une génisse qui foule le blé, et que vous avez henni comme de puissants chevaux.
That (you are rejoicing *Q(K)*) that (you are gloating *Q(K)*) O plunderers of inheritance my that (you are skipping about *Q(K)*) like a heifer threshing (so you may neigh *Q(K)*) like mighty [horses].
12 Votre mère est fort honteuse, celle qui vous enfanta est couverte d’opprobre: voici, [elle est] la dernière des nations, un désert, un pays stérile et une solitude!
She will be ashamed mother your exceedingly she will be abashed [the one who] gave birth you there! [the] last of nations a wilderness a desert and a desert plain.
13 À cause du courroux de l’Éternel elle ne sera pas habitée, elle sera tout entière une désolation; quiconque passera près de Babylone sera étonné et sifflera à cause de toutes ses plaies.
From [the] wrath of Yahweh not it will remain and it will be a waste all of it every [one who] passes by at Babylon he will be appalled and he may hiss on all wounds its.
14 Rangez-vous en bataille contre Babylone, tout alentour, vous tous qui bandez l’arc; tirez contre elle, n’épargnez pas les flèches, car elle a péché contre l’Éternel.
Line up on Babylon - all around O all [those who] bend a bow shoot against it may not you spare an arrow for to Yahweh it has sinned.
15 Poussez des cris contre elle tout alentour! Elle s’est rendue, ses remparts sont tombés, ses murailles sont renversées, car c’est ici la vengeance de l’Éternel. Vengez-vous sur elle, faites-lui comme elle a fait!
Shout out on it all around it will give hand its they will fall (towers its *Q(k)*) they will be torn down walls its for [is] [the] vengeance of Yahweh that avenge yourself on it just as it has done do to it.
16 Retranchez de Babylone celui qui sème, et celui qui tient la faucille au temps de la moisson. À cause de l’épée qui ravage, qu’ils s’en retournent chacun vers son peuple, et qu’ils fuient chacun vers son pays.
Cut off [the] sower from Babylon and [one who] wields a sickle at a time of harvest from before [the] sword of the oppressor everyone to people his they will turn and everyone to own land his they will flee.
17 Israël est une brebis chassée çà et là; les lions l’ont pourchassée. Le roi d’Assyrie, le premier, l’a dévorée; et celui-ci, le dernier, Nebucadretsar, roi de Babylone, lui a brisé les os.
[is] sheep Scattered Israel [which] lions they have driven away the first [lion] he devoured it [the] king of Assyria and this the last [lion] he gnawed bones its Nebuchadnezzar [the] king of Babylon.
18 C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit l’Éternel des armées, le Dieu d’Israël: Voici, je visite le roi de Babylone et son pays, comme j’ai visité le roi d’Assyrie;
Therefore thus he says Yahweh of hosts [the] God of Israel here I [am] about to visit [judgment] to [the] king of Babylon and to land his just as I visited [judgment] to [the] king of Assyria.
19 et je ferai revenir Israël à ses pâturages; et il paîtra sur le Carmel et en Basan, et son âme sera rassasiée dans la montagne d’Éphraïm et en Galaad.
And I will restore Israel to pasture its and it will graze Carmel and Bashan and in [the] hill country of Ephraim and Gilead it will be satisfied appetite its.
20 En ces jours-là et en ce temps-là, dit l’Éternel, on cherchera l’iniquité d’Israël, et il n’y en aura point, et les péchés de Juda, et ils ne seront pas trouvés; car je pardonnerai à ceux que j’aurai fait demeurer de reste.
In the days those and at the time that [the] utterance of Yahweh it will be sought [the] iniquity of Israel and there not [will be] it and [the] sins of Judah and not they will be found for I will forgive [those] whom I will leave as a remnant.
21 Monte contre le pays doublement rebelle, contre lui et contre les habitants destinés à la visitation; dévaste et détruis entièrement derrière eux, dit l’Éternel, et fais selon tout ce que je t’ai commandé.
On the land of Merathaim go up on it and against [the] inhabitants of Pekod kill and totally destroy after them [the] utterance of Yahweh and do according to all that I have commanded you.
22 Le cri de guerre est dans le pays, et une grande ruine.
A sound of battle [will be] in the land and destruction great.
23 Comment est mis en pièces et brisé le marteau de toute la terre! Comment Babylone est-elle réduite en désolation parmi les nations!
How! it has been cut off and it has been broken [the] hammer of all the earth how! it has become a horror Babylon among the nations.
24 Je t’ai tendu un piège, et aussi tu es prise, Babylone! et tu ne le savais pas; tu as été trouvée, et tu as aussi été saisie, parce que tu as combattu contre l’Éternel.
I set a trap for you and also you were caught O Babylon and you not you knew you were found and also you were caught for with Yahweh you engaged in strife.
25 L’Éternel a ouvert son trésor, et il en a fait sortir les armes de son indignation; car c’est ici l’œuvre du Seigneur, l’Éternel des armées, dans le pays des Chaldéens.
He has opened Yahweh armory his and he has brought out [the] weapons of indignation his for a work it [belongs] to [the] Lord Yahweh of hosts in [the] land of [the] Chaldeans.
26 Venez contre elle de toute part; ouvrez ses granges, entassez-la comme des gerbes et détruisez-la entièrement; qu’elle n’ait rien de reste!
Come to it from [the] end open granaries its pile up it like heaps and totally destroy it may not it belong to it a remnant.
27 Tuez tous ses taureaux; qu’ils descendent à la tuerie. Malheur à eux! car leur jour est venu, le temps de leur visitation.
Kill all young bulls its let them go down to the slaughter woe! on them for it has come day their [the] time of punishment their.
28 La voix de ceux qui fuient, qui sont réchappés du pays de Babylone, pour annoncer dans Sion la vengeance de l’Éternel, notre Dieu, la vengeance de son temple!
[the] sound of Fugitives and escapees from [the] land of Babylon to declare in Zion [the] vengeance of Yahweh God our [the] vengeance of temple his.
29 Convoquez des archers contre Babylone, tous ceux qui bandent l’arc! Campez contre elle tout alentour, qu’elle n’ait pas de réchappés; rendez-lui selon son œuvre, faites-lui selon tout ce qu’elle a fait; car elle a été fière contre l’Éternel, contre le Saint d’Israël.
Summon against Babylon - archers all [those who] bend a bow encamp on it all around may not (it be to it *Q(K)*) escape repay to it according to deed[s] its according to all that it has done do to it for Yahweh it has defied proudly [the] holy [one] of Israel.
30 C’est pourquoi ses jeunes gens tomberont dans ses places et tous ses hommes de guerre seront détruits en ce jour-là, dit l’Éternel.
Therefore they will fall young men its in open places its and all [the] men of war its they will be silenced on the day that [the] utterance of Yahweh.
31 Voici, [j’en veux] à toi, orgueilleuse, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel des armées; car ton jour est venu, le temps où je te visite.
Here I [am] against you O arrogance [the] utterance of [the] Lord Yahweh of hosts that it has come day your [the] time [when] I will visit you.
32 Et l’orgueilleuse a bronché et est tombée, et il n’y a personne qui la relève; et j’allumerai dans ses villes un feu qui dévorera tous ses alentours.
And it will stumble arrogance and it will fall and not [will belong] to it [one who] raises up and I will kindle fire in cities its and it will devour all around it.
33 Ainsi dit l’Éternel des armées: Les fils d’Israël et les fils de Juda ont été ensemble opprimés; et tous ceux qui les emmenèrent captifs les ont retenus, ils ont refusé de les laisser aller.
Thus he says Yahweh of hosts [are] oppressed [the] people of Israel and [the] people of Judah together and all captors their they have kept hold on them they have refused to let go them.
34 Leur rédempteur est fort. Son nom est l’Éternel des armées; il prendra certainement en main leur cause, afin de donner du repos au pays et de troubler les habitants de Babylone.
Redeemer their - [is] strong [is] Yahweh of hosts name his certainly he will conduct case their so as to give rest to the earth and to cause disquiet to [the] inhabitants of Babylon.
35 L’épée est sur les Chaldéens, dit l’Éternel, et sur les habitants de Babylone, et sur ses princes, et sur ses sages;
A sword on [the] Chaldeans [the] utterance of Yahweh and against [the] inhabitants of Babylon and against officials its and against wise [people] its.
36 l’épée est sur les menteurs, et ils deviendront insensés; l’épée est sur ses hommes forts, et ils seront terrifiés;
A sword against the empty talkers and they will become fools a sword against warriors its and they will be shattered.
37 l’épée est sur ses chevaux, et sur ses chars, et sur tout le peuple mélangé qui est au milieu d’elle, et ils seront comme des femmes; l’épée est sur ses trésors, et ils seront pillés;
A sword against horses its and against chariotry its and against every foreigner who [is] in [the] midst of it and they will become women a sword against treasuries its and they will be plundered.
38 la sécheresse est sur ses eaux, et elles tarissent; car c’est un pays d’images taillées, et ils sont fous de leurs affreuses idoles.
A drought against waters its and they will dry up for [is] a land of idols it and in terrors they will act like mad people.
39 C’est pourquoi les bêtes du désert, avec des chacals, y habiteront, et il y habitera des autruches; et elle ne sera plus jamais habitée, et on n’y demeurera plus, de génération en génération.
Therefore they will dwell desert-dwellers with hyenas and they will dwell in it daughters of an ostrich and not it will remain again to perpetuity and not it will settle until a generation and a generation.
40 Comme dans la subversion que Dieu a faite de Sodome et de Gomorrhe et des villes voisines, dit l’Éternel, personne n’y habitera et aucun fils d’homme n’y séjournera.
Like [the] overthrow of God Sodom and Gomorrah and neighbors its [the] utterance of Yahweh not he will dwell there anyone and not he will sojourn in it a child of humankind.
41 Voici, un peuple vient du nord, et une grande nation et beaucoup de rois se réveillent des extrémités de la terre.
There! a people [is] about to come from [the] north and a nation great and kings many they will be roused from [the] remotest parts of [the] earth.
42 Ils saisissent l’arc et le javelot; ils sont cruels, et ils n’ont pas de compassion; leur voix bruit comme la mer, et ils sont montés sur des chevaux, préparés comme un homme pour la guerre, contre toi, fille de Babylone.
Bow and javelin they will take hold of [will be] cruel they and not they will have mercy sound their [will be] like the sea [which] it roars and on horses they will ride arranged like a man for battle on you O daughter of Babylon.
43 Le roi de Babylone en a entendu la rumeur, et ses mains sont devenues lâches; la détresse l’a saisi, l’angoisse comme celle d’une femme qui enfante.
He heard [the] king of Babylon report their and they hung limp hands his distress it took hold of him anguish like [woman] giving birth.
44 Voici, comme un lion il monte de la crue du Jourdain contre la demeure forte; car je les en chasserai précipitamment. Et qui est l’homme choisi, que je préposerai sur elle? Car qui est comme moi, et qui m’assignera le temps, et qui sera le pasteur qui se tiendra devant moi?
There! like a lion [which] it goes up from [the] thicket[s] of the Jordan to pastureland of an ever-flowing [stream] for I will act in a moment (I will cause to run them *Q(K)*) from on it and whoever [is] chosen to it I will appoint for who? [is] like me and who? will he summon me and who? this [is] a shepherd who he will stand before me.
45 C’est pourquoi, écoutez le conseil de l’Éternel, qu’il a formé contre Babylone, et les pensées qu’il a pensées contre le pays des Chaldéens: Si les petits du troupeau ne les entraînent! S’il ne rend désolée pour eux [leur] habitation!…
Therefore hear [the] plan of Yahweh which he has planned against Babylon and purposes his which he has purposed against [the] land of [the] Chaldeans if not people will drag away them [the] young [ones] of the flock if not he will devastate on them [the] pastureland.
46 Au bruit de la prise de Babylone la terre est ébranlée, et il y a un cri, entendu parmi les nations.
From [the] sound it has been captured Babylon it will quake the earth and a cry of distress among the nations it will be heard.
