Jérémie 42
1 Et tous les chefs des forces, et Jokhanan, fils de Karéakh, et Jezania, fils de Hoshahia, et tout le peuple, depuis le petit jusqu’au grand, s’approchèrent
And alle the princes of werriours neiyiden, and Johannan, the sone of Caree, and Jeconye, the sone of Josie, and the residue comyn puple, fro a litil man `til to a greet man.
2 et dirent à Jérémie le prophète: Que notre supplication soit reçue devant toi, et prie l’Éternel, ton Dieu, pour nous, pour tout ce reste; car, de beaucoup [que nous étions], nous sommes restés peu, selon que tes yeux nous voient;
And thei seiden to Jeremye, the profete, Oure preier falle in thi siyt, and preie thou for vs to thi Lord God, for alle these remenauntis; for we ben left a fewe of manye, as thin iyen biholden vs; and thi Lord God telle to vs the weie,
3 et que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, nous montre le chemin par lequel nous devons marcher, et ce que nous devons faire.
bi which we schulen go, and the word which we schulen do.
4 Et Jérémie le prophète, leur dit: J’ai entendu; voici, je prierai l’Éternel, votre Dieu, selon vos paroles; et il arrivera que, tout ce que l’Éternel vous répondra, je vous le déclarerai: je ne vous cacherai rien.
Forsothe Jeremye, the profete, seide to hem, Y haue herd; lo! Y preye to oure Lord God, bi youre wordis; Y schal schewe to you ech word, what euere word the Lord schal answere to me, nether Y schal hide ony thing fro you.
5 Et ils dirent à Jérémie: L’Éternel soit entre nous un témoin véritable et fidèle, si nous ne faisons selon toute la parole pour laquelle l’Éternel, ton Dieu, t’enverra vers nous!
And thei seiden to Jeremye, The Lord be witnesse of treuthe and of feith bitwixe vs; if not bi ech word, in which thi Lord God schal sende thee to vs, so we schulen do, whether it be good ether yuel.
6 Soit bien, soit mal, nous écouterons la voix de l’Éternel notre Dieu, vers qui nous t’envoyons, afin qu’il nous arrive du bien, quand nous écouterons la voix de l’Éternel, notre Dieu.
We schulen obeie to the vois of oure Lord God, to whom we senden thee, that it be wel to vs, whanne we han herd the vois of oure Lord God.
7 Et il arriva, au bout de dix jours, que la parole de l’Éternel vint à Jérémie.
Forsothe whanne ten daies weren fillid, the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye.
8 Et il appela Jokhanan, fils de Karéakh, et tous les chefs des forces qui étaient avec lui, et tout le peuple, depuis le petit jusqu’au grand,
And he clepide Johannan, the sone of Caree, and alle the princes of werriours, that weren with hym, and al the puple fro the leste `til to the mooste; and he seide to hem,
9 et leur dit: Ainsi dit l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, vers qui vous m’avez envoyé pour présenter votre supplication devant lui:
The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, to whom ye senten me, that Y schulde mekeli sette forth youre preyeris in his siyt.
10 Si vous continuez à habiter dans ce pays, je vous bâtirai, et je ne vous renverserai pas, et je vous planterai, et je ne vous arracherai pas; car je me repens du mal que je vous ai fait.
If ye resten, and dwellen in this lond, Y schal bilde you, and Y schal not distrie; Y schal plaunte, and Y schal not drawe out; for now Y am plesid on the yuel which Y dide to you.
11 Ne craignez point le roi de Babylone, dont vous avez peur; ne le craignez pas, dit l’Éternel; car je suis avec vous pour vous sauver et pour vous délivrer de sa main;
Nyle ye drede of the face of the kyng of Babiloyne, whom ye `that ben ferdful, dreden; nyle ye drede hym, seith the Lord, for Y am with you, to make you saaf, and to delyuere fro his hond.
12 et j’userai de miséricorde envers vous, et il aura pitié de vous, et vous fera retourner dans votre terre.
And Y schal yyue mercies to you, and Y schal haue merci on you, and Y schal make you dwelle in youre lond.
13 Mais si vous dites: Nous n’habiterons pas dans ce pays, et que vous n’écoutiez pas la voix de l’Éternel, votre Dieu,
Forsothe if ye seien, We schulen not dwelle in this lond, nether we schulen here the vois of oure Lord God, and seie,
14 disant: Non, mais nous irons dans le pays d’Égypte, où nous ne verrons pas la guerre, et où nous n’entendrons pas le son de la trompette, et où nous n’aurons pas disette de pain; et nous habiterons là; …
Nai, but we schulen go to the lond of Egipt, where we schulen not se batel, and schulen not here the noise of trumpe, and we schulen not suffre hungur, and there we schulen dwelle;
15 et maintenant, à cause de cela, écoutez la parole de l’Éternel, vous, le reste de Juda: Ainsi dit l’Éternel des armées, le Dieu d’Israël: Si vous tournez vos faces pour aller en Égypte, et que vous y alliez pour y demeurer,
for this thing, ye remenauntis of Juda, here now the word of the Lord. The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, If ye setten youre face, for to entre in to Egipt, and if ye entren,
16 il arrivera que l’épée dont vous avez peur vous atteindra là, dans le pays d’Égypte, et la famine que vous craignez vous suivra de près, là, en Égypte, et vous y mourrez.
to dwelle there, the swerd whiche ye dreden schal take you there in the lond of Egipt, and the hungur for which ye ben angwischid schal cleue to you in Egipt; and there ye schulen die.
17 Et il arrivera que tous les hommes qui auront tourné leur face pour aller en Égypte afin d’y séjourner, mourront par l’épée, par la famine, et par la peste; et il n’y aura pour eux ni reste ni réchappé de devant le mal que je fais venir sur eux.
And alle the men that settiden her face, to entre in to Egipt, and to dwelle there, schulen die bi swerd, and hungur, and pestilence; no man of hem schal dwelle stille, nether schal aschape fro the face of yuel, which Y schal brynge on hem.
18 Car ainsi dit l’Éternel des armées, le Dieu d’Israël: Comme ma colère et ma fureur ont été versées sur les habitants de Jérusalem, ainsi ma fureur sera versée sur vous si vous allez en Égypte; et vous serez une exécration, et une désolation, et une malédiction, et un opprobre; et vous ne verrez plus ce lieu.
For why the Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, As my strong veniaunce and myn indignacioun is wellid togidere on the dwelleris of Jerusalem, so myn indignacioun schal be wellid togidere on you, whanne ye han entrid in to Egipt; and ye schulen be in to sweryng, and in to wondring, and in to cursyng, and in to schenschipe; and ye schulen no more se this place.
19 L’Éternel vous a dit, reste de Juda: N’allez pas en Égypte. Sachez certainement que je vous ai avertis aujourd’hui;
The word of the Lord is on you, ye remenauntis of Juda; nyle ye entre in to Egipt; ye witinge schulen wite, that Y haue witnessid to you to dai;
20 car vous vous êtes séduits vous-mêmes dans vos âmes quand vous m’avez envoyé vers l’Éternel, votre Dieu, disant: Prie l’Éternel, notre Dieu, pour nous, et selon tout ce que l’Éternel, notre Dieu, dira, ainsi déclare-nous, et nous le ferons.
for ye han disseyued youre soulis, for ye senten me to youre Lord God, and seiden, Preye thou for vs to oure Lord God, and bi alle thingis what euer thingis oure Lord schal seie to thee, so telle thou to vs, and we schulen do.
21 Et je vous l’ai déclaré aujourd’hui; et vous n’avez pas écouté la voix de l’Éternel, votre Dieu, ni tout ce avec quoi il m’a envoyé vers vous.
And Y telde to you to dai, and ye herden not the vois of youre Lord God, on alle thingis for whiche he sente me to you.
22 Et maintenant, sachez certainement que vous mourrez par l’épée, par la famine, et par la peste, dans le lieu où vous avez désiré d’aller pour y séjourner.
Now therfor ye witynge schulen wite, for ye schulen die bi swerd, and hungur, and pestilence, in the place to which ye wolden entre, to dwelle there.
