Isaïe 27
1 En ce jour-là, l’Éternel visitera de son épée, dure et grande et forte, le léviathan, serpent fuyard, et le léviathan, serpent tortueux; et il tuera le monstre qui est dans la mer.
In that day, the Lord will visit, with his harsh and great and strong sword, against Leviathan, the barred serpent, and against Leviathan, the twisted serpent, and he will slay the whale that is in the sea.
2 En ce jour-là, [il y aura] une vigne de vin pur; chantez à son sujet:
In that day, the vineyard of pure wine will sing to them.
3 Moi, l’Éternel, j’en prends soin; à tout moment je l’arroserai; de peur qu’on ne la visite, j’en prendrai soin nuit et jour.
I am the Lord, who watches over it. I will suddenly give drink to it. I will watch over it, night and day, lest perhaps someone visit against it.
4 Il n’y a pas en moi de fureur. Oh! si j’avais les ronces et les épines en bataille contre moi, je marcherais contre elles; je les brûlerais ensemble.
Indignation is not mine. Who will be a thorn and a brier to me in battle? I will advance against them. I set them on fire together.
5 Ou bien, qu’il saisisse ma force, qu’il fasse la paix avec moi, qu’il fasse la paix avec moi!
Or will he, instead, take hold of my strength? Will he make peace with me? Will she make peace with me?
6 Dorénavant Jacob prendra racine, Israël fleurira et poussera, et remplira de fruits la face du monde.
As they advance with violence against Jacob, Israel will flourish and spring forth, and they will fill the face of the world with offspring.
7 L’a-t-il frappé selon le coup de ceux qui l’ont frappé? A-t-il été tué selon la tuerie de ceux qu’il a tués?
Has he struck him with the scourge that he himself used to strike others? Or has he killed in the manner that he himself used to kill his victims?
8 C’est avec mesure que tu as contesté avec elle, lorsque tu l’as renvoyée. Il l’ôta par son vent fort, au jour de [son] vent d’orient.
You will judge this by comparing one measure to another, when he has been cast out. He has decided this, by his stern spirit, for the day of heat.
9 C’est pourquoi par cela est expiée l’iniquité de Jacob. Et ceci est tout le fruit de ce que son péché est ôté: quand il rendra toutes les pierres de l’autel comme des pierres calcaires désagrégées, les ashères et les colonnes consacrées au soleil ne se relèveront pas.
Therefore, concerning this, the iniquity of the house of Jacob will be forgiven. And this is the reward of all: that their sin be taken away, when he will have made all the stones of the altar to be like crushed cinders. For the sacred groves and the shrines shall not stand.
10 Car la ville forte est solitaire, une demeure abandonnée et délaissée comme le désert; le veau y paîtra et y couchera, et en broutera les rameaux.
For the fortified city will be desolate. The shining city will be abandoned and will be left behind like a desert. In that place, the calf will pasture, and in that place, he will lie down, and he will feed from its summits.
11 Quand ses branches seront séchées, elles seront cassées; les femmes viendront et y mettront le feu. Car ce n’est pas un peuple qui ait de l’intelligence; c’est pourquoi celui qui l’a fait n’en aura pas compassion, et celui qui l’a formé n’usera pas de grâce envers lui.
Its harvest will be crushed by dryness. Women will arrive and teach it, for it is not a wise people. Because of this, he who made it will not take pity on it, and he who formed it will not spare it.
12 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là que l’Éternel battra au fléau depuis le courant du fleuve jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte, et vous serez rassemblés un à un, fils d’Israël!
And this shall be: in that day, the Lord will strike, from the channel of the river, even to the torrent of Egypt. And you shall be gathered together, one by one, O sons of Israel.
13 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là qu’on sonnera de la grande trompette; et ceux qui périssaient dans le pays d’Assyrie, et les exilés du pays d’Égypte, viendront et se prosterneront devant l’Éternel, en la montagne sainte, à Jérusalem.
And this shall be: in that day, a noise will be made with a great trumpet. And those who had been lost will approach from the land of the Assyrians, with those who had been outcasts in the land of Egypt. And they will adore the Lord, on the holy mountain, in Jerusalem.
