1 Et voici ceux de la province qui remontèrent de la captivité de ceux qui avaient été transportés, lesquels Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, avait transportés à Babylone, et qui retournèrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun à sa ville,
Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles carried away to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar its king. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,

59 Et voici ceux qui montèrent de Thel-Mélakh, de Thel-Harsha, de Kerub-Addan, d’Immer; mais ils ne purent pas montrer leurs maisons de pères et leur descendance, s’ils étaient d’Israël:
The following came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but could not prove that their families were descended from Israel:
60 les fils de Delaïa, les fils de Tobija, les fils de Nekoda, 652;
the descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda, 652 in all.
61 et des fils des sacrificateurs, les fils de Hobaïa, les fils d’Hakkots, les fils de Barzillaï, qui prit une femme d’entre les filles de Barzillaï, le Galaadite, et fut appelé de leur nom.
And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).
62 Ceux-ci cherchèrent leur inscription généalogique, mais elle ne se trouva pas; et ils furent exclus, comme profanes, de la sacrificature.
These men searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
63 Et le Thirshatha leur dit qu’ils ne devaient point manger des choses très saintes, jusqu’à ce que soit suscité un sacrificateur avec les urim et les thummim.
The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest to consult the Urim and Thummim.
64 Toute la congrégation réunie était de 42 360 [personnes],
The whole assembly numbered 42,360,
65 sans compter leurs serviteurs et leurs servantes; ceux-ci [étaient au nombre de] 7 337; et parmi eux, il y avait 200 chanteurs et chanteuses.
in addition to their 7,337 menservants and maidservants, as well as their 200 male and female singers.
66 Ils avaient 736 chevaux, 245 mulets,
They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
67 435 chameaux, [et] 6 720 ânes.
435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.
68 Et des chefs des pères, quand ils arrivèrent à la maison de l’Éternel qui est à Jérusalem, donnèrent volontairement pour la maison de Dieu, pour la relever sur son emplacement;
When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings to rebuild the house of God on its original site.
69 ils donnèrent au trésor de l’œuvre, selon leur pouvoir, 61 000 dariques d’or, et 5 000 mines d’argent, et 100 tuniques de sacrificateurs.
According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priestly garments.
70 Et les sacrificateurs, et les lévites, et ceux du peuple, et les chantres, et les portiers, et les Nethiniens, habitèrent dans leurs villes: tout Israël se trouva dans ses villes.
So the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, along with some of the people, settled in their own towns; and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
