Deutéronome 22
1 Si tu vois le bœuf de ton frère, ou son mouton, égarés, tu ne te cacheras pas de devant eux: tu ne manqueras pas de les ramener à ton frère.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his lamb go astray, and withdraw thyself from them: thou shalt surely bring them back again unto thy brother.
2 Et si ton frère n’est pas près de toi, ou que tu ne le connaisses pas, tu mèneras la bête dans ta maison; et elle sera chez toi jusqu’à ce que ton frère la cherche, alors tu la lui rendras.
But if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or thou know him not: then shalt thou take it unto thy own house, and it shall remain with thee until thy brother inquire after it, and then shalt thou restore it to him.
3 Et tu feras de même pour son âne, et tu feras de même pour son vêtement, et tu feras de même pour tout objet perdu que ton frère aura perdu et que tu auras trouvé: tu ne pourras pas te cacher.
In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and in like manner shalt thou do with his raiment; and in like manner shalt thou do with every lost thing of thy brother's, which may have been lost to him, and which thou hast found; thou art not at liberty to withdraw thyself.
4 Si tu vois l’âne de ton frère, ou son bœuf, tombés sur le chemin, tu ne te cacheras pas de devant eux: tu ne manqueras pas de les relever avec lui.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fallen down by the way, and withdraw thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.
5 La femme ne portera pas un habit d’homme, et l’homme ne se vêtira pas d’un vêtement de femme; car quiconque fait ces choses est en abomination à l’Éternel, ton Dieu.
A woman shall not have upon her the apparel of a man, and a man shall not put on a woman's garment; for an abomination unto the Lord thy God are all who do this.
6 Si tu rencontres devant toi dans le chemin, sur quelque arbre ou sur la terre, un nid d’oiseau avec des petits ou des œufs, et que la mère soit assise sur les petits ou sur les œufs, tu ne prendras pas la mère avec les petits;
If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way, on any tree, or on the ground, with young ones, or with eggs, and the mother be sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs: thou shalt not take the mother with the young;
7 tu ne manqueras pas de laisser aller la mère, et tu prendras les petits pour toi; afin que tu prospères et que tu prolonges tes jours.
But thou shalt surely let the mother go, and the young thou mayest take to thyself; in order that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live many days.
8 Si tu bâtis une maison neuve, tu feras un parapet à ton toit, afin que tu ne mettes pas du sang sur ta maison, si quelqu’un venait à en tomber.
When thou buildest a new house, thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof; that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any one were to fall from there.
9 Tu ne sèmeras pas ta vigne de deux espèces [de semence], de peur que la totalité de la semence que tu as semée et le rapport de ta vigne ne soient sanctifiés.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds; that the ripe fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of the vineyard, be not defiled.
10 – Tu ne laboureras pas avec un bœuf et un âne [attelés] ensemble.
Thou shalt not plough with an ox and an ass together.
11 – Tu ne te vêtiras pas d’une étoffe mélangée, de laine et de lin [tissés] ensemble.
Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, of woolen and linen together.
12 Tu te feras des houppes aux quatre coins de ton vêtement, dont tu te couvres.
Thou shalt make thyself fringes upon the four corners of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.
13 Si un homme a pris une femme, et est allé vers elle, et qu’il la haïsse,
If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
14 et lui impute des actes qui donnent occasion de parler, et fasse courir sur elle quelque mauvais bruit, et dise: J’ai pris cette femme, et je me suis approché d’elle, et je ne l’ai pas trouvée vierge:
And he lay an accusation against her, and spread abroad an evil name upon her, and say, This woman I took [for wife], and when I came near to her, I found no tokens of virginity in her:
15 alors le père de la jeune femme, et sa mère, prendront les signes de la virginité de la jeune femme et les produiront devant les anciens de la ville, à la porte;
Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city, to the gate.
16 et le père de la jeune femme dira aux anciens: J’ai donné ma fille pour femme à cet homme, et il la hait;
And the father of the damsel shall say unto the elders, My daughter I gave unto this man for wife; but he hath conceived hatred toward her;
17 et voici, il lui impute des actes qui donnent occasion de parler, disant: Je n’ai pas trouvé ta fille vierge; et voici les signes de la virginité de ma fille. Et ils déploieront le drap devant les anciens de la ville.
And, lo, he hath laid an accusation [against her], saying, I have found no tokens of virginity in thy daughter; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity; and they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18 Et les anciens de cette ville prendront l’homme et le châtieront.
And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19 Et parce qu’il aura fait courir un mauvais bruit sur une vierge d’Israël, ils lui feront payer une amende de 100 pièces d’argent, et ils les donneront au père de la jeune femme; et elle restera sa femme, et il ne pourra pas la renvoyer, tous ses jours.
And they shall amerce him in a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel; because he hath spread abroad an evil name upon a virgin of Israel; and she shall remain his wife; he shall not be at liberty to put her away all his days.
20 – Mais si cette chose est vraie, si les signes de la virginité n’ont pas été trouvés chez la jeune femme,
But if this thing was true, there have not been found tokens of virginity in the damsel:
21 alors ils feront sortir la jeune femme à l’entrée de la maison de son père, et les hommes de sa ville l’assommeront de pierres, et elle mourra; car elle a commis une infamie en Israël, en se prostituant dans la maison de son père; et tu ôteras le mal du milieu de toi.
Then shall they lead out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die; because she hath wrought a disgraceful deed in Israel, to commit incest in her father's house; and thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.
22 Si un homme a été trouvé couché avec une femme mariée, ils mourront tous deux, l’homme qui a couché avec la femme, et la femme; et tu ôteras le mal [du milieu] d’Israël.
If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband: then shall both of them die, the man that lieth with the woman, and the woman; and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel.
23 – Si une jeune fille vierge est fiancée à un homme, et qu’un homme la trouve dans la ville et couche avec elle,
If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto a man, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her:
24 vous les ferez sortir tous les deux à la porte de cette ville, et vous les assommerez de pierres, et ils mourront: la jeune fille, parce que, étant dans la ville, elle n’a pas crié, et l’homme, parce qu’il a humilié la femme de son prochain; et tu ôteras le mal du milieu de toi.
Then shall ye lead them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not [for aid] in the city; and the man, because he hath done violence to his neighbor's wife; and thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.
25 Et si c’est dans les champs, que l’homme a trouvé la jeune fille fiancée, et que, lui faisant violence, il couche avec elle, alors l’homme qui aura couché avec elle mourra, lui seul;
But if in the field the man should find the betrothed damsel, and the man take hold of her by force, and lie with her: then shall the man that lay with her die alone;
26 et tu ne feras rien à la jeune fille: il n’y a pas de péché digne de mort sur la jeune fille; car c’est comme si quelqu’un s’élevait contre son prochain et le tuait: ainsi est ce cas;
But unto the damsel shalt thou not do any thing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death; for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and striketh him dead. even so is this matter;
27 car il l’a trouvée dans les champs, la jeune fille fiancée a crié, et il n’y a eu personne pour la sauver.
For in the field did he find her; had the betrothed damsel even cried, there would have been none to aid her.
28 Si un homme trouve une jeune fille vierge qui n’est pas fiancée, et qu’il la saisisse et couche avec elle, et qu’ils soient trouvés,
If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and lay fast hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found:
29 l’homme qui aura couché avec elle donnera au père de la jeune fille 50 pièces d’argent, et elle sera sa femme, puisqu’ il l’a humiliée; il ne pourra pas la renvoyer, tous ses jours.
Then shall the man who lieth with her give unto the father of the damsel fifty shekels of silver; and she shall become his wife, because he hath done violence to her, he shall not be at liberty to put her away all his days.
30 Un homme ne prendra pas la femme de son père, et ne relèvera pas le pan du vêtement de son père.
A man shall not take his lather's wife, and he shall not uncover his father's skirt.
