2 Samuel 23
1 Et ce sont ici les dernières paroles de David. David, le fils d’Isaï, a dit, et l’homme haut placé, l’oint du Dieu de Jacob, et le doux psalmiste d’Israël, a dit:
These also be the last wordes of Dauid, Dauid the sonne of Ishai saith, euen the man who was set vp on hie, the Anointed of the God of Iacob, and the sweete singer of Israel saith,
2 L’Esprit de l’Éternel a parlé en moi, et sa parole a été sur ma langue.
The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his worde was in my tongue.
3 Le Dieu d’Israël a dit, le Rocher d’Israël m’a parlé: Celui qui domine parmi les hommes sera juste, dominant en la crainte de Dieu,
The God of Israel spake to me, ye strength of Israel saide, Thou shalt beare rule ouer men, being iust, and ruling in the feare of God.
4 et il sera comme la lumière du matin, quand le soleil se lève, un matin sans nuages: par sa clarté l’herbe tendre [germe] de la terre après la pluie.
Euen as the morning light when the sunne riseth, the morning, I say, without cloudes, so shall mine house be, and not as the grasse of the earth is by the bright raine.
5 Quoique ma maison ne soit pas ainsi avec Dieu, cependant il a établi avec moi une alliance éternelle, à tous égards bien ordonnée et assurée, car c’est là tout mon salut et tout mon plaisir, quoiqu’il ne la fasse pas germer.
For so shall not mine house be with God: for he hath made with me an euerlasting couenant, perfite in all pointes, and sure: therefore all mine health and whole desire is, that he will not make it growe so.
6 Mais [les fils de] Bélial sont tous comme des épines qu’on jette loin, car on ne les prend pas avec la main,
But the wicked shalbe euery one as thornes thrust away, because they can not be taken with handes.
7 Et l’homme qui les touche se munit d’un fer ou d’un bois de lance; et ils seront entièrement brûlés par le feu sur le lieu même.
But the man that shall touch them, must be defensed with yron, or with the shaft of a speare: and they shall be burnt with fire in the same place.
8 Ce sont ici les noms des hommes forts qu’avait David: Josheb-Bashébeth, Thacmonite, chef des principaux capitaines; c’était Adino, l’Etsnite, qui eut le dessus sur 800 hommes, qu’il tua en une fois.
These be the names of the mightie men whome Dauid had. He that sate in the seate of wisedome, being chiefe of the princes, was Adino of Ezni, he slewe eight hundreth at one time.
9 Et après lui, Éléazar, fils de Dodo, fils d’un Akhokhite; il était l’un des trois hommes forts qui étaient avec David, lorsqu’ils avaient défié les Philistins qui s’étaient assemblés là pour combattre, et que les hommes d’Israël étaient montés.
And after him was Eleazar the sonne of Dodo, the sonne of Ahohi, one of the three worthies with Dauid, when they defied the Philistims gathered there to battel, when the men of Israel were gone vp.
10 Il se leva, et frappa les Philistins, jusqu’à ce que sa main fut lasse et que sa main demeura attachée à l’épée; et l’Éternel opéra une grande délivrance ce jour-là; et le peuple revint après [Éléazar], seulement pour piller.
He arose and smote the Philistims vntill his hande was wearie, and his hande claue vnto the sworde: and the Lord gaue great victorie the same day, and the people returned after him onely to spoyle.
11 Et après lui, Shamma, fils d’Agué, Hararite: les Philistins s’étaient assemblés en troupe; et il y avait là une portion de champ pleine de lentilles, et le peuple avait fui devant les Philistins:
After him was Shammah the sonne of Age the Hararite: for the Philistims assembled at a towne, where was a piece of a fielde full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistims.
12 et il se plaça au milieu du champ, et le sauva, et frappa les Philistins; et l’Éternel opéra une grande délivrance.
But he stoode in the middes of the fielde, and defended it, and slewe the Philistims: so the Lord gaue great victorie.
13 Et trois des trente chefs descendirent et vinrent au temps de la moisson vers David, dans la caverne d’Adullam, comme une troupe de Philistins était campée dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
Afterward three of the thirtie captaines went downe, and came to Dauid in the haruest time vnto the caue of Adullam, and the hoste of the Philistims pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
14 Et David était alors dans le lieu fort, et il y avait alors un poste des Philistins à Bethléhem.
And Dauid was then in an holde, and the garison of ye Philistims was then in Beth-lehem.
15 Et David convoita, et dit: Qui me fera boire de l’eau du puits de Bethléhem, qui est près de la porte?
And Dauid longed, and said, Oh, that one would giue me to drinke of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate.
16 Et les trois hommes forts forcèrent le passage à travers le camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l’eau du puits de Bethléhem, qui est près de la porte, et la prirent et l’apportèrent à David; et il ne voulut pas la boire, mais il en fit une libation à l’Éternel.
The the three mightie brake into the host of the Philistims, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem that was by the gate, and tooke and brought it to Dauid, who woulde not drinke thereof, but powred it for an offring vnto ye Lord,
17 Et il dit: Loin de moi, Éternel, que je fasse cela! N’est-ce pas le sang des hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie? Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Ces trois hommes forts firent cela.
And said, O Lord, be it farre from me, that I should doe this. Is not this the blood of the men that went in ieopardie of their liues? therefore he woulde not drinke it. These things did these three mightie men.
18 Et Abishaï, frère de Joab, fils de Tseruïa, était chef de trois; il leva sa lance contre 300 hommes, qu’il tua. Et il eut un nom parmi les trois.
And Abishai the brother of Ioab, the sonne of Zeruiah, was chiefe among the three, and he lifted vp his speare against three hundreth, and slewe them, and he had the name among the three.
19 Ne fut-il pas le plus honoré des trois? Et il fut leur chef; mais il n’atteignit pas les trois [premiers].
For he was most excellent of the three, and was their captaine, but he attained not vnto the first three.
20 Et Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada, fils d’un homme vaillant, de Kabtseël, grand en exploits, lui, frappa deux lions de Moab; et il descendit, et frappa le lion dans une fosse, par un jour de neige.
And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada the sonne of a valiant man, which had done many actes, and was of Kabzeel, slewe two strong men of Moab: he went downe also, and slewe a lyon in the middes of a pit in the time of snowe.
21 Et c’est lui qui frappa un homme égyptien qui était de grande apparence, et l’Égyptien avait en sa main une lance; et il descendit vers lui avec un bâton, et arracha la lance de la main de l’Égyptien, et le tua avec sa propre lance.
And he slewe an Egyptian a man of great stature, and the Egyptian had a speare in his hande: but he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egyptians hand, and slewe him with his owne speare.
22 Voilà ce que fit Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada; et il eut un nom parmi les trois hommes forts:
These things did Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and had the name among the three worthies.
23 il fut plus honoré que les trente, mais il n’atteignit pas les trois [premiers]. Et David lui donna une place dans ses audiences privées.
He was honourable among thirtie, but he atteined not to the first three: and Dauid made him of his counsell.
24 Asçaël, frère de Joab, était des trente; Elkhanan, fils de Dodo, de Bethléhem;
Asahel the brother of Ioab was one of the thirtie: Elhanan the sonne of Dodo of Beth-lehem:
25 Shamma, le Harodite; Élika, le Harodite;
Shammah the Harodite: Elika ye Harodite:
26 Hélets, le Paltite; Ira, fils d’Ikkesh, le Thekohite;
Helez the Paltite: Ira the sonne of Ikkesh the Tekoite:
27 Abiézer, l’Anathothite; Mebunnaï, le Hushathite;
Abiezer the Anethothite: Mebunnai the Husathite:
28 Tsalmon, l’Akhokhite; Maharaï, le Netophathite;
Zalmon an Ahohite: Maharai the Netophathite:
29 Héleb, fils de Baana, le Netophathite; Itthaï, fils de Ribaï, de Guibha des fils de Benjamin;
Heleb the sonne of Baanah a Netophathite: Ittai the sonne of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Beniamin:
30 Benaïa, le Pirhathonite; Hiddaï, des torrents de Gaash;
Benaiah the Pirathonite: Hiddai of the riuer of Gaash:
31 Abi-Albon, l’Arbathite; Azmaveth, le Barkhumite;
Abi-albon the Arbathite: Azmaueth the Barhumite:
32 Éliakhba, le Shaalbonite; Bené-Jashen; Jonathan;
Elihaba the Shaalbonite: of the sonnes of Iashen, Ionathan:
33 Shamma, l’Hararite; Akhiam, fils de Sharar, l’Ararite;
Shammah the Hararite: Ahiam the sonne of Sharar the Hamrite:
34 Éliphéleth, fils d’Akhasbaï, fils d’un Maacathien; Éliam, fils d’Akhitophel, le Guilonite;
Eliphelet the sonne of Ahasbai the sonne of Maachathi: Eliam the sonne of Ahithophel the Gilonite:
35 Hetsraï, le Carmélite; Paaraï, l’Arbite;
Hezrai the Carmelite: Paarai the Arbite:
36 Jighal, fils de Nathan, de Tsoba; Bani, le Gadite;
Igal the sonne of Nathan of Zobah: Bani the Gadite:
37 Tsélek, l’Ammonite; Nakharaï, le Beérothien, qui portait les armes de Joab, fils de Tseruïa;
Zelek the Ammonite: Naharai the Becrothite, the armour bearer of Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah:
38 Ira, le Jéthrien; Gareb, le Jéthrien;
Ira the Ithrite: Gareb the Ithrite:
39 Urie, le Héthien: en tout, 37.
Uriiah the Hittite, thirtie and seuen in all.
