1 Samuel 23
1 Et on rapporta à David, en disant: Voici, les Philistins font la guerre à Kehila et pillent les aires.
And thei telden to Dauid, and seiden, Lo! Filisteis fiyten ayens Seila, and rauyschen the corn floris.
2 Et David interrogea l’Éternel, disant: Irai-je, et frapperai-je ces Philistins? Et l’Éternel dit à David: Va, et tu frapperas les Philistins, et tu sauveras Kehila.
Therfor Dauid councelide the Lord, and seide, Whether Y schal go, and smyte Filisteis? And the Lord seide to Dauid, Go thou, and thou schalt smyte Filisteis, and thou schalt saue Seila.
3 Et les hommes de David lui dirent: Voici, [même] ici en Juda, nous avons peur, et comment irions-nous à Kehila, contre les troupes rangées des Philistins?
And men, that weren with Dauid, seiden to him, Lo! we ben heere in Judee, and dredden; hou myche more, if we schulen go in to Seila ayens the cumpanyes of Filisteis.
4 Et David interrogea encore l’Éternel, et l’Éternel lui répondit et dit: Lève-toi, descends à Kehila; car je livrerai les Philistins en ta main.
Therfor eft Dauid councelide the Lord; which answeride, and seide to Dauid, Rise thou, and go `in to Seila; for Y schal bitake Filisteis in thin hond.
5 Et David alla avec ses hommes à Kehila, et combattit contre les Philistins et emmena leurs troupeaux, et leur infligea une grande défaite. Et David sauva les habitants de Kehila.
Therfor Dauid yede, and hise men, in to Seila, and fauyt ayens Filisteis; and he droof awey her werk beestis, and smoot hem with greet wounde; and Dauid sauyde the dwelleris of Seila.
6 Et il était arrivé que, lorsque Abiathar, fils d’Akhimélec, s’était enfui auprès de David à Kehila, il était descendu avec un éphod en sa main.
Forsothe in that tyme, `wher ynne Abiathar, sone of Achymelech, fledde to Dauid in to Seile, he cam doun, and hadde with hym `ephoth, that is, the cloth of the hiyeste preest.
7 Et on rapporta à Saül que David était entré à Kehila. Et Saül dit: Dieu l’a rejeté [et livré] en ma main; car il s’est enfermé en entrant dans une ville qui a des portes et des barres.
Forsothe it was teld to Saul, that Dauid hadde come in to Seila; and Saul seide, The Lord hath take hym in to myn hondis, and he `is closid, and entride in to a citee, in which ben yatis and lockis.
8 Et Saül convoqua tout le peuple pour la guerre, pour descendre à Kehila, afin d’assiéger David et ses hommes.
And Saul comaundide to al the puple, that it schulde go doun to batel in to Seila, and bisege Dauid and hise men.
9 Et David sut que Saül méditait du mal contre lui, et il dit à Abiathar, le sacrificateur: Apporte l’éphod.
And whanne Dauid perceyuede, that Saul made redi yuel priueli to hym, he seide to Abiathar, preest, Brynge hidur ephoth.
10 Et David dit: Éternel, Dieu d’Israël! ton serviteur a appris comme une chose certaine que Saül cherche à entrer dans Kehila, pour détruire la ville à cause de moi:
And Dauid seide, Lord God of Israel, thi seruaunt `herde fame, that Saul disposith to come to Seila, that he distrie the citee for me;
11 les hommes de Kehila me livreront-ils en sa main? Saül descendra-t-il, comme ton serviteur l’a entendu dire? Éternel, Dieu d’Israël! déclare-le, je te prie, à ton serviteur. Et l’Éternel dit: Il descendra.
if the men of Seila schulen bitake me in to hise hondis, and if Saul schal come doun, as thi seruaunt herde, thou Lord God of Israel schewe to thi seruaunt? And the Lord seide, He schal come doun.
12 Et David dit: Les hommes de Kehila me livreront-ils, moi et mes hommes, en la main de Saül? Et l’Éternel dit: Ils [te] livreront.
And Dauid seide eft, Whether the men of Seila schulen bitake me, and the men that ben with me, in to the hondis of Saul? And the Lord seide, Thei schulen bitake, `that is, if thou dwellist in the citee, and Saul come thidur.
13 Et David se leva, et ses hommes, environ 600 hommes, et ils sortirent de Kehila et s’en allèrent où ils purent. Et on rapporta à Saül que David s’était échappé de Kehila, et il s’abstint d’entrer en campagne.
Therfor Dauid roos, and hise men, as sixe hundrid; and thei yeden out of Seila, and wandriden vncerteyn hidur and thidur. And it was telde to Saul, that Dauid hadde fledde fro Seila, and was saued; wherfor Saul dissymylide to go out.
14 Et David habita au désert, dans des lieux forts, et il habita dans la montagne, au désert de Ziph. Et Saül le cherchait tous les jours; mais Dieu ne le livra pas en sa main.
Forsothe Dauid dwellide in the deseert, in strongeste places, and he dwellide in the hil of wildirnesse of Ziph, in a derk hil; netheles Saul souyte hym in alle daies, and the Lord bitook not hym in to the hondis of Saul.
15 Et David vit que Saül était sorti pour chercher sa vie; et David [se tenait] au désert de Ziph, dans un bois.
And Dauid siy, that Saul yede out, that he schulde seke his lijf. Forsothe Dauid was in the deseert of Ziph, in a wode.
16 Et Jonathan, fils de Saül, se leva et alla vers David dans le bois, et fortifia sa main en Dieu;
And Jonathas, the sone of Saul, roos, and yede to Dauid in to the wode, and coumfortide hise hondis in God.
17 et il lui dit: Ne crains pas, car la main de Saül, mon père, ne te trouvera pas; et tu régneras sur Israël, et moi, je serai le second après toi; et Saül, mon père, le sait aussi.
And he seide to Dauid, Drede thou not; for the hond of Saul my fadir schal not fynde thee, and thou schalt regne on Israel, and Y schal be the secounde to thee; but also Saul my father woot this.
18 Et ils firent, les deux, alliance devant l’Éternel; et David demeura dans le bois, et Jonathan s’en alla à sa maison.
Therfor euer eithir smoot boond of pees bifor the Lord. And Dauid dwellide in the wode; forsothe Jonathas turnede ayen in to his hows.
19 Et les Ziphiens montèrent vers Saül, à Guibha, disant: David ne se tient-il pas caché auprès de nous, dans les lieux forts, dans le bois, sur la colline de Hakila, qui est au midi de Jeshimon?
Forsothe men of Ziph stieden to Saul in Gabaa, and seiden, Lo! whether not Dauid is hid at vs in the sikireste places of the wode, in the hille of Achille, which is at the riyt syde of deseert?
20 Et maintenant, ô roi, puisque tout le désir de ton âme est de descendre, descends; et ce sera à nous de le livrer en la main du roi.
Now therfor come thou doun, as thi soule desiride, that thou schuldist come doun; forsothe it schal be oure, that we bitake hym in to the hondis of the kyng.
21 Et Saül dit: Bénis soyez-vous de par l’Éternel, de ce que vous avez eu pitié de moi!
And Saul seide, Blessid be ye of the Lord, for ye sorewiden `for my stide.
22 Allez, je vous prie, assurez-vous encore davantage, et sachez et voyez le lieu où est son pied, [et] qui l’y a vu, car on m’a dit qu’il est très rusé.
Therfor, Y preie, go ye, and make redi more diligentli, and do ye more curiousli ether intentifli, and biholde ye swiftly, where his foot is, ethir who siy hym there, where ye seiden; for he thenkith on me, that felli Y aspie hym.
23 Et voyez et sachez toutes les cachettes où il se cache, et revenez vers moi avec quelque chose de certain, et j’irai avec vous; et il arrivera que, s’il est dans le pays, je le chercherai soigneusement parmi tous les milliers de Juda.
Biholde ye, and se alle his hidyng places, in whiche he is hid, and turne ye ayen to me at a certeyn thing, that Y go with you; that if he closith hym silf yhe in to erthe, Y schal seke hym with alle the thousyndis of Juda.
24 Et ils se levèrent et s’en allèrent à Ziph, devant Saül; mais David et ses hommes étaient au désert de Maon, dans la plaine, au midi de Jeshimon.
And thei risiden, and yeden in to Ziph bifor Saul. Forsothe Dauid and hise men weren in the deseert of Maon, in the feldi places, at the riyt half of Jesymyth.
25 Et Saül et ses hommes allèrent pour le chercher; et on le rapporta à David, et il descendit le rocher, et habita au désert de Maon. Et Saül l’apprit, et il poursuivit David au désert de Maon.
Therfor Saul yede and hise felowis to seke Dauid, and it was teld to Dauid; and anoon he yede doun to the stoon, and lyuyde in the deseert of Maon; and whanne Saul hadde herd this, he pursuede Dauid in the deseert of Maon.
26 Et Saül allait de ce côté-ci de la montagne, et David et ses hommes de l’autre côté de la montagne; et David fuyait en hâte pour échapper à Saül, et Saül et ses hommes cherchaient à environner David et ses hommes, pour les prendre.
And Saul yede and hise men at the side of the hil `on o part; forsothe Dauid and hise men weren in the side of the hil on the tother part; sotheli Dauid dispeiride, that he myyte ascape fro the face of Saul. And so Saul and hise men cumpassiden bi the maner of a coroun Dauid and hise men, that thei schulden take hem.
27 Et un messager vint à Saül, disant: Hâte-toi, et viens, car les Philistins se sont jetés sur le pays.
And a messanger cam to Saul, and seide, Haste thou, and come, for Filisteis han spred hem silf on the lond.
28 Et Saül cessa de poursuivre David, et il marcha à la rencontre des Philistins. C’est pourquoi on a appelé ce lieu-là Séla-Hammakhlekoth.
Therfor Saul turnede ayen, and ceesside to pursue Dauid; and yede ayens the comyng of Filisteis. For this thing thei clepen that place the Stoon Departynge.
29 Et David monta de là, et habita dans les lieux forts d’En-Guédi.
Therfor Dauid stiede fro thennus, and dwellide in the sykireste places of Engaddi.
