1 Rois 16

1 Et la parole de l’Éternel vint à Jéhu, fils de Hanani, contre Baësha, disant:

Then came the word of Yahweh unto Jehu

2 Parce que je t’ai élevé de la poussière, et que je t’ai établi prince sur mon peuple Israël, et que tu as marché dans la voie de Jéroboam, et que tu as fait pécher mon peuple Israël, pour qu’ils me provoquent par leurs péchés:

son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying: Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and gave thee to be leader over my people Israel, —and yet thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and caused, my people Israel, to sin, provoking me to anger with their sins,

3 voici, j’ôterai Baësha et sa maison; et je ferai de ta maison comme [j’ai fait] de la maison de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath.

Behold me! consuming after Baasha, and after his house, —and I will deliver up thy house, like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat:

4 Celui de [la maison de] Baësha qui mourra dans la ville, les chiens le mangeront, et celui de sa [maison] qui mourra dans les champs, les oiseaux des cieux le mangeront.

Him that dieth of Baasha in the city, shall, the dogs, eat, and, him that dieth of his in the field, shall, the birds of heaven, eat.

5 Et le reste des actes de Baësha, et ce qu’il fit, et sa puissance, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

Now, the rest of the story of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

6 Et Baësha s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Thirtsa; et Éla, son fils, régna à sa place.

So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah, —and, Elah his son, reigned, in his stead.

7 Et par Jéhu, fils de Hanani, le prophète, la parole de l’Éternel vint aussi contre Baësha, et contre sa maison, à cause de tout le mal qu’il faisait devant les yeux de l’Éternel, pour le provoquer à colère par l’œuvre de ses mains, pour qu’il soit comme la maison de Jéroboam, et parce qu’il tua celui-ci.

Moreover also, through Jehu son of Hanani the prophet, the word of Yahweh, came against Baasha and against his house, even because of all the wickedness that he had done in the eyes of Yahweh, provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, becoming like the house of Jeroboam, —notwithstanding that he smote him.

8 La vingt -sixième année d’Asa, roi de Juda, Éla, fils de Baësha, commença de régner sur Israël à Thirtsa, [et il régna] deux ans.

In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, began Elah son of Baasha to reign over Israel, in Tirzah, [and he reigned] two years.

9 Et son serviteur Zimri, chef de la moitié de ses chars, conspira contre lui. Et il était à Thirtsa, buvant et s’enivrant dans la maison d’Artsa, qui était [préposé] sur sa maison à Thirtsa.

Then conspired against him his servant Zimri, captain of half the chariots, —as he was in Tirzah drinking himself drunk, in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah.

10 Et Zimri y alla et le frappa, et le mit à mort la vingt-septième année d’Asa, roi de Juda; et il régna à sa place.

And Zimri went in, and smote him and slew him, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, —and reigned in his stead.

11 Et il arriva que, lorsqu’il commença de régner, aussitôt qu’il s’assit sur son trône, il frappa toute la maison de Baësha; il ne lui laissa pas un seul mâle, ni ses parents, ni un ami.

And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he smote all the house of Baasha, he left him not even the meanest, —neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

12 Et Zimri détruisit toute la maison de Baësha, selon la parole de l’Éternel qu’il prononça contre Baësha par Jéhu, le prophète,

Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, —according to the word of Yahweh which he spake unto Baasha, through Jehu the prophet;

13 à cause de tous les péchés de Baësha et des péchés d’Éla, son fils, qu’ils avaient commis et par lesquels ils avaient fait pécher Israël, pour provoquer à colère l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, par leurs vanités.

as to all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, —wherewith they sinned, and wherewith they caused, Israel, to sin, provoking to anger Yahweh God of Israel, with their vanities.

14 Et le reste des actes d’Éla, et tout ce qu’il fit, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

Now, the rest of the story of Elah, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

15 La vingt -septième année d’Asa, roi de Juda, Zimri régna sept jours à Thirtsa. Et le peuple était campé contre Guibbethon, qui était aux Philistins.

In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, did Zimri reign, seven days in Tirzah, —but, the people, were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistine.

16 Et le peuple qui campait entendit dire: Zimri a conspiré, et il a aussi frappé le roi. Et ce même jour, dans le camp, tout Israël établit Omri, chef de l’armée, roi sur Israël.

When therefore the people who were encamped, heard say, Zimri hath conspired, moreover also, he hath smitten the king, all Israel made Omri, general of the army, king over Israel, on that day, in the camp.

17 Et Omri et tout Israël avec lui montèrent de Guibbethon, et mirent le siège devant Thirtsa.

So Omri, and all Israel with him, went up from Gibbethon, —and laid siege against Tirzah.

18 Et il arriva que, quand Zimri vit que la ville était prise, il entra dans le palais de la maison du roi, et brûla par le feu la maison du roi sur lui; et il mourut

And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was captured, that he entered into the citadel of the house of the king, —and burned over him the house of the king, with fire, and died:

19 à cause de ses péchés qu’il avait commis en faisant ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, en marchant dans la voie de Jéroboam et dans son péché qu’il fit pour faire pécher Israël.

because of his sins which he committed by doing the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —by walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he committed, by causing, Israel, to sin.

20 Et le reste des actes de Zimri, et la conspiration qu’il fit, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

Now, the rest of the story of Zimri, and his conspiracy wherein he conspired, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

21 Alors le peuple d’Israël fut divisé par moitiés: la moitié du peuple suivit Thibni, fils de Guinath, pour le faire roi; et la moitié suivit Omri.

Then, were the people of Israel divided, —half the people, were following Tibni son of Ginath, to make him king, and, half, following Omri.

22 Et le peuple qui suivit Omri prévalut sur le peuple qui suivit Thibni, fils de Guinath; et Thibni mourut, et Omri régna.

But, the people that followed Omri, prevailed against, the people that followed Tibni son of Ginath; so that, Tibni, died, and, Omri, reigned.

23 La trente et unième année d’Asa, roi de Juda, Omri commença de régner sur Israël, [et il régna] douze ans. Il régna six ans à Thirtsa.

In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, began Omri to reign over Israel [and he reigned] twelve years: in Tirzah, reigned he six years.

24 Et il acheta de Shémer la montagne de Samarie pour deux talents d’argent; et il bâtit sur la montagne, et appela le nom de la ville qu’il bâtit Samarie, selon le nom de Shémer, propriétaire de la montagne.

And he bought the hill Samaria, of Shemer, for two talents of silver, —and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer lord of the hill—Samaria.

25 Et Omri fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, et il fit pis que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.

And Omri did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and did more wickedly than all who were before him;

26 Et il marcha dans toute la voie de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, et dans ses péchés par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël pour provoquer à colère l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, par leurs vanités.

yea he walked in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin, —provoking to anger Yahweh, God of Israel, with their vanities.

27 Et le reste des actes d’Omri, ce qu’il fit, et sa puissance qu’il montra, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des chroniques des rois d’Israël?

Now, the rest of the story of Omri, what he did, and his might that he shewed, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

28 Et Omri s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Samarie; et Achab, son fils, régna à sa place.

So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria, —and, Ahab his son, reigned, in his stead.

29 Et Achab, fils d’Omri, commença de régner sur Israël la trente -huitième année d’Asa, roi de Juda. Et Achab, fils d’Omri, régna sur Israël à Samarie, 22 ans.

Now, Ahab son of Omri, began to reign over Israel, in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, —and Ahab son of Omri reigned over Israel, in Samaria, twenty-two years.

30 Et Achab, fils d’Omri, fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l’Éternel, plus que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.

And Ahab son of Omri did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and did more wickedly than all that were before him.

31 Et il arriva que, comme si c’était peu de chose qu’il marche dans les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, il prit pour femme Jézabel, fille d’Ethbaal, roi des Sidoniens, et alla et servit Baal, et se prosterna devant lui,

And it come to pass, as though it had been too light a thing that he should walk in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and bowed down to him.

32 et dressa un autel à Baal dans la maison de Baal qu’il bâtit à Samarie.

And he reared an altar unto Baal, —in the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.

33 Et Achab fit une ashère; et Achab fit plus que tous les rois d’Israël qui avaient été avant lui, pour provoquer à colère l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.

And Ahab made the Sacred Stem, —and Ahab did yet more to provoke to anger Yahweh God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

34 De son temps, Hiel, le Béthélite, bâtit Jéricho; il la fonda sur Abiram, son premier-né, et posa ses portes sur Segub, son plus jeune fils, selon la parole de l’Éternel, qu’il avait dite par Josué, fils de Nun.

In his days, did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho, —At the price of Abiram his firstborn, he laid its foundation, and, at the price of Segub his youngest, he set up its doors, according to the word of Yahweh which he spake through Joshua son of Nun.
