1 Rois 13
1 Et voici, un homme de Dieu vint de Juda, par la parole de l’Éternel, à Béthel, et Jéroboam se tenait près de l’autel pour faire fumer l’encens.
And beholde, there came a man of God out of Iudah (by the commandement of the Lord) vnto Beth-el, and Ieroboam stoode by the altar to offer incense.
2 Et il cria contre l’autel, par la parole de l’Éternel, et dit: Autel, autel! ainsi dit l’Éternel: Voici, un fils naîtra à la maison de David; son nom sera Josias, et il offrira sur toi les sacrificateurs des hauts lieux qui font fumer de l’encens sur toi, et on brûlera sur toi des ossements d’hommes.
And he cryed against the altar by the comandement of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Beholde, a child shalbe borne vnto the house of Dauid, Iosiah by name, and vpon thee shall he sacrifice the Priestes of the hie places that burne incense vpon thee, and they shall burne mens bones vpon thee.
3 Et il donna en ce même jour un signe, disant: C’est ici le signe que l’Éternel a parlé: Voici, l’autel se fendra, et la cendre qui est dessus sera répandue.
And he gaue a signe the same time, saying, This is the signe, that the Lord hath spoken, Behold, the altar shall rent, and the ashes that are vpon it, shall fall out.
4 Et il arriva, comme le roi entendait la parole de l’homme de Dieu qu’il cria contre l’autel de Béthel, que Jéroboam étendit sa main de dessus l’autel, disant: Saisissez-le! Et sa main, qu’il avait étendue contre lui, sécha, et il ne put la ramener à lui.
And when the King had heard the saying of the man of God, which he had cryed against the altar in Beth-el, Ieroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, Lay holde on him: but his hande which he put foorth against him, dryed vp, and he could not pull it in againe to him.
5 Et l’autel se fendit et la cendre fut répandue de dessus l’autel, selon le signe que l’homme de Dieu avait donné par la parole de l’Éternel.
The altar also claue asunder, and the ashes fell out from the altar, according to the signe, which the man of God had giuen by the commandement of the Lord.
6 Et le roi répondit et dit à l’homme de Dieu: Implore, je te prie, l’Éternel, ton Dieu, et prie pour moi, afin que ma main me soit rendue. Et l’homme de Dieu implora l’Éternel, et la main du roi lui fut rendue et fut comme auparavant.
Then the King answered, and saide vnto the man of God, I beseeche thee, pray vnto ye Lord thy God, and make intercession for me, that mine hand may bee restored vnto me. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the Kings hand was restored, and became as it was afore.
7 Et le roi dit à l’homme de Dieu: Viens avec moi à la maison, et rafraîchis-toi, et je te donnerai un présent.
Then the King sayde vnto the man of God, Come home with mee, that thou mayest dyne, and I will giue thee a reward.
8 Et l’homme de Dieu dit au roi: Quand tu me donnerais la moitié de ta maison, je n’irais pas avec toi; et je ne mangerai pas de pain et je ne boirai pas d’eau dans ce lieu.
But the man of God saide vnto the King, If thou wouldest giue me halfe thine house, I would not goe in with thee, neither woulde I eate bread nor drinke water in this place.
9 Car il m’est ainsi commandé par la parole de l’Éternel, disant: Tu ne mangeras pas de pain, et tu ne boiras pas d’eau, et tu ne t’en retourneras point par le chemin par lequel tu es allé.
For so was it charged mee by the worde of the Lord, saying, Eate no bread nor drinke water, nor turne againe by the same way that thou camest.
10 Et il s’en alla par un autre chemin; il ne s’en retourna point par le chemin par lequel il était venu à Béthel.
So he went another way and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
11 Et un certain vieux prophète habitait Béthel; et ses fils vinrent et lui racontèrent toute l’œuvre que l’homme de Dieu avait faite ce jour-là à Béthel; les paroles qu’il avait dites au roi, ils les rapportèrent aussi à leur père.
And an olde Prophet dwelt in Beth-el, and his sonnes came and tolde him all ye woorkes, that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and the wordes which he had spoken vnto the King, tolde they their father.
12 Et leur père leur dit: Par quel chemin s’en est-il allé? Et ses fils avaient vu le chemin par lequel s’en était allé l’homme de Dieu qui venait de Juda.
And their father sayde vnto them, What way went he? and his sonnes shewed him what waye the man of God went, which came from Iudah.
13 Et il dit à ses fils: Sellez-moi l’âne; et ils lui sellèrent l’âne, et il monta dessus.
And hee saide vnto his sonnes, Saddle mee the asse. Who sadled him the asse, and hee rode thereon,
14 Et il s’en alla après l’homme de Dieu, et le trouva assis sous un térébinthe; et il lui dit: Es-tu l’homme de Dieu qui est venu de Juda? Et il dit: C’est moi.
And went after the man of God, and found him sitting vnder an oke: and he saide vnto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Iudah? And he sayd, Yea.
15 Et il lui dit: Viens avec moi à la maison, et mange du pain.
Then he said vnto him, Come home with me, and eate bread.
16 Et il dit: Je ne puis retourner avec toi ni entrer avec toi, et je ne mangerai pas de pain et je ne boirai pas d’eau avec toi dans ce lieu.
But he answered, I may not returne with thee, nor go in with thee, neither wil I eate bread nor drinke water with thee in this place.
17 Car il m’a été dit par la parole de l’Éternel: Tu n’y mangeras pas de pain, et tu n’y boiras pas d’eau; tu ne retourneras pas, en t’en allant, par le chemin par lequel tu es venu.
For it was charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Thou shalt eate no bread, nor drinke water there, nor turne againe to goe by the way that thou wentest.
18 Et il lui dit: Moi aussi je suis prophète comme toi, et un ange m’a parlé par la parole de l’Éternel, disant: Fais-le revenir avec toi à ta maison, et qu’il mange du pain et boive de l’eau. Il lui mentait.
And he said vnto him, I am a Prophet also as thou art, and an Angel spake vnto me by the worde of the Lord, saying, Bring him againe with thee into thine house, that hee may eate bread and drinke water: but he lyed vnto him.
19 Et il retourna avec lui, et mangea du pain dans sa maison, et but de l’eau.
So he went againe with him, and did eate bread in his house, and dranke water.
20 Et il arriva, comme ils étaient assis à table, que la parole de l’Éternel vint au prophète qui l’avait ramené;
And as they sate at the table, the worde of the Lord came vnto the Prophet, that brought him againe.
21 et il cria à l’homme de Dieu qui était venu de Juda, disant: Ainsi dit l’Éternel: Parce que tu as été rebelle à la parole de l’Éternel, et que tu n’as pas gardé le commandement que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, t’avait commandé,
And hee cried vnto the man of God that came from Iudah, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandement which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
22 et que tu es retourné, et que tu as mangé du pain et que tu as bu de l’eau dans le lieu dont il t’avait dit: Tu n’y mangeras pas de pain et tu n’y boiras pas d’eau, ton cadavre n’entrera pas dans le sépulcre de tes pères.
But camest backe againe, and hast eaten bread and drunke water in the place (whereof he did say vnto thee, Thou shalt eate no bread nor drinke any water) thy carkeis shall not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
23 Et après qu’il eut mangé du pain et après qu’il eut bu, il arriva qu’il sella l’âne pour lui, pour le prophète qu’il avait ramené.
And when he had eaten bread and drunke, he sadled him the asse, to wit, to the Prophet whome he had brought againe.
24 Et il s’en alla; et un lion le trouva sur le chemin, et le tua. Et son cadavre était jeté sur le chemin, et l’âne se tenait à côté de lui, le lion aussi se tenait à côté du cadavre.
And when hee was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slewe him, and his body was cast in the way, and the asse stoode thereby: the lion stood by the corps also.
25 Et voici, des hommes passaient, et ils virent le cadavre jeté sur le chemin, et le lion se tenant à côté du cadavre; et ils vinrent et le dirent dans la ville dans laquelle habitait le vieux prophète.
And beholde, men that passed by, sawe the carkeis cast in the way, and the lion standing by the corps: and they came and tolde it in ye towne where the olde Prophet dwelt.
26 Et le prophète qui l’avait ramené du chemin l’apprit, et il dit: C’est l’homme de Dieu qui a été rebelle à la parole de l’Éternel, et l’Éternel l’a livré au lion qui l’a déchiré et l’a tué, selon la parole de l’Éternel qu’il lui avait dite.
And when the Prophet that brought him backe againe from the waye, hearde thereof, hee sayde, It is the man of God, who hath bene disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath deliuered him vnto the lion, which hath rent him and slayne him, according to the worde of the Lord, which hee spake vnto him.
27 Et il parla à ses fils, disant: Sellez-moi l’âne; et ils le sellèrent.
And he spake to his sonnes, saying, Saddle me the asse. And they sadled him.
28 Et il s’en alla, et trouva le cadavre jeté sur le chemin, et l’âne et le lion se tenant à côté du cadavre; le lion n’avait pas mangé le cadavre ni déchiré l’âne.
And he went and founde his body cast in the way, and the asse and the lion stoode by the corps: and the lion had not eaten the bodie, nor torne the asse.
29 Et le prophète releva le cadavre de l’homme de Dieu, et le mit sur l’âne, et le ramena; et le vieux prophète entra dans la ville pour mener deuil, et pour l’enterrer.
And the Prophet tooke vp the body of the man of God, and layed it vpon the asse, and brought it againe, and the olde Prophet came to the citie, to lament and burie him.
30 Et il déposa son cadavre dans son propre sépulcre – et on mena deuil sur lui, – [disant]: Hélas, mon frère!
And hee layed his bodie in his owne graue, and they lamented ouer him, saying, Alas, my brother.
31 Et, après l’avoir enterré, il parla à ses fils, disant: Quand je mourrai, vous m’enterrerez dans le sépulcre où l’homme de Dieu est enterré; placez mes os à côté de ses os.
And when he had buried him, hee spake to his sonnes, saying, When I am dead, burie ye mee also in the sepulchre, wherein the man of God is buried: lay my bones beside his bones.
32 Car la parole qu’il a criée, par la parole de l’Éternel, contre l’autel qui est à Béthel et contre toutes les maisons des hauts lieux qui sont dans les villes de Samarie, arrivera certainement.
For that thing which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar that is in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the hie places, which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to passe.
33 Après cela, Jéroboam ne revint pas de sa mauvaise voie; et il établit encore, d’entre toutes les classes du peuple, des sacrificateurs des hauts lieux. Quiconque le désirait, il le consacrait, et il devenait sacrificateur des hauts lieux.
Howbeit after this, Ieroboam conuerted not from his wicked way, but turned againe, and made of the lowest of the people Priests of the hie places. Who would, might consecrate him selfe, and be of the Priestes of the hie places.
34 Et par cela il y eut du péché sur la maison de Jéroboam, pour l’exterminer et pour la détruire de dessus la face de la terre.
And this thing turned to sinne vnto the house of Ieroboam, euen to roote it out, and destroy it from the face of the earth.
