1 Chroniques 6
1 Les fils de Lévi: Guershom, Kehath, et Merari.
Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
2 – Et les fils de Kehath: Amram, Jitsehar, et Hébron, et Uziel.
Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
3 Et les fils d’Amram: Aaron et Moïse, et Marie. Et les fils d’Aaron: Nadab et Abihu, Éléazar et Ithamar.
Amram’s children were Miriam and [her younger brothers] Aaron and Moses. Aaron’s sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
4 – Éléazar engendra Phinées; Phinées engendra Abishua,
Eleazar was the father of Phinehas. Phinehas was the father of Abishua.
5 et Abishua engendra Bukki, et Bukki engendra Uzzi,
Abishua was the father of Bukki. Bukki was the father of Uzzi.
6 et Uzzi engendra Zerakhia, et Zerakhia engendra Meraïoth;
Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah. Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth.
7 Meraïoth engendra Amaria, et Amaria engendra Akhitub,
Meraioth was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.
8 et Akhitub engendra Tsadok, et Tsadok engendra Akhimaats,
Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz.
9 et Akhimaats engendra Azaria, et Azaria engendra Jokhanan,
Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah. Azariah was the father of Johanan.
10 et Jokhanan engendra Azaria: c’est lui qui exerça la sacrificature dans la maison que Salomon bâtit à Jérusalem.
Johanan was the father of Azariah. Azariah was a priest in the temple that Solomon commanded to be built in Jerusalem.
11 Et Azaria engendra Amaria, et Amaria engendra Akhitub,
Azariah was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.
12 et Akhitub engendra Tsadok, et Tsadok engendra Shallum,
Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Shallum.
13 et Shallum engendra Hilkija, et Hilkija engendra Azaria,
Shallum was the father of Hilkiah. Hilkiah was the father of Azariah.
14 et Azaria engendra Seraïa, et Seraïa engendra Jotsadak,
Azariah was the father of Seraiah. Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.
15 et Jotsadak partit quand l’Éternel transporta Juda et Jérusalem par la main de Nebucadnetsar.
Jehozadak was forced to leave his home when Yahweh sent [King] Nebuchadnezzar’s [army] [MTY] to capture many people in Jerusalem and other places in Judah and compel them [to go to Babylonia].
16 Les fils de Lévi: Guershom, Kehath, et Merari.
Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
17 – Et ce sont ici les noms des fils de Guershom: Libni et Shimhi.
Gershon’s sons were Libni and Shimei.
18 Et les fils de Kehath: Amram, et Jitsehar, et Hébron, et Uziel.
Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
19 Les fils de Merari: Makhli et Mushi. – Ce sont là les familles de Lévi, selon leurs pères.
Merari’s sons were Mahli and Mushi. Here is a list of the descendants of Levi, who became leaders of their clans.
20 De Guershom: Libni, son fils; Jakhath, son fils; Zimma, son fils;
Gershon’s [oldest] son was Libni. Libni’s son was Jehath. Jehath’s son was Zimmah.
21 Joakh, son fils; Iddo, son fils; Zérakh, son fils; Jathraï, son fils.
Zimmah’s son was Joah. Joah’s son was Iddo. Iddo’s son was Zerah. Zerah’s son was Jeatherai.
22 Les fils de Kehath: Amminadab, son fils; Coré, son fils; Assir, son fils;
Kohath’s [other] son was Amminadab. Amminadab’s son was Korah. Korah’s son was Assir.
23 Elkana, son fils; et Ébiasaph, son fils; et Assir, son fils;
Assir’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph’s son was Assir.
24 Thakhath, son fils; Uriel, son fils; Ozias, son fils; et Saül, son fils.
Assir’s son was Tahath. Tahath’s son was Uriel. Uriel’s son was Uzziah. Uzziah’s son was Shaul.
25 – Et les fils d’Elkana: Amasçaï et Akhimoth.
Elkanah’s [other] sons were Amasai and Ahimoth.
26 Elkana, – les fils d’Elkana: Tsophaï, son fils; et Nakhath, son fils;
Ahimoth’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Zophai. Zophai’s son was Nahath.
27 Éliab, son fils; Jerokham, son fils; Elkana, son fils.
Nahath’s son was Eliab. Eliab’s son was Jeroham. Jeroham’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Samuel.
28 Et les fils de Samuel: le premier-né, Vashni, et Abija.
Samuel’s oldest son was Joel; his other son was Abijah.
29 Les fils de Merari: Makhli; Libni, son fils; Shimhi, son fils; Uzza, son fils;
Merari’s oldest son was Mahli. Mahli’s son was Libni. Libni’s son was Shimei. Shimei’s son was Uzzah.
30 Shimha, son fils; Hagguija, son fils; Asçaïa, son fils.
Uzzah’s son was Shimea. Shimea’s son was Haggiah. Haggiah’s son was Asaiah.
31 Et ce sont ici ceux que David établit pour la direction du chant dans la maison de l’Éternel, depuis que l’arche fut en repos.
After the Sacred Chest was brought [to Jerusalem, King] David appointed some of the men who were descendants of Levi to be in charge of the music in [the Sacred Tent where the people worshiped] Yahweh.
32 Et ils faisaient le service devant le tabernacle de la tente d’assignation, pour le chant, jusqu’à ce que Salomon ait bâti la maison de l’Éternel à Jérusalem; et ils se tinrent là selon l’ordre établi pour leur service.
Those musicians first sang and played their instruments in the Sacred Tent, which was also called the Tent of Meeting, and they continued to do that until Solomon’s [workers] built the temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem. In all their work, they obeyed the instructions [that David had given them].
33 Et ce sont ici ceux qui se tenaient là, et leurs fils: Des fils des Kehathites: Héman, le chantre, fils de Joël, fils de Samuel,
Here is a list of the musicians and their sons: From Kohath’s descendants there was Heman, the leader of the singers. Heman was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Samuel.
34 fils d’Elkana, fils de Jerokham, fils d’Éliel, fils de Thoakh,
Samuel was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Jeroham. Jeroham was the son of Eliel. Eliel was the son of Toah.
35 fils de Tsuph, fils d’Elkana, fils de Makhath, fils d’Amasçaï,
Toah was the son of Zuph. Zuph was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Mahath. Mahath was the son of Amasai.
36 fils d’Elkana, fils de Joël, fils d’Azaria, fils de Sophonie,
Amasai was the son of [another man whose name was] Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Azariah. Azariah was the son of Zephaniah.
37 fils de Thakhath, fils d’Assir, fils d’Ébiasaph, fils de Coré,
Zephaniah was the son of Tahath. Tahath was the son of Assir. Assir was the son of Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph was the son of Korah.
38 fils de Jitsehar, fils de Kehath, fils de Lévi, fils d’Israël.
Korah was the son of Izhar. Izhar was the son of Kohath. Kohath was the son of Levi. Levi was the son of Jacob.
39 Et son frère Asaph, qui se tenait à sa droite: Asaph, fils de Bérékia, fils de Shimha,
Heman’s helper was Asaph. His group [of singers] stood at the right side of Heman. Asaph was the son of Berekiah. Berekiah was the son of Shimea.
40 fils de Micaël, fils de Baascéïa, fils de Malkija,
Shimea was the son of Michael. Michael was the son of Baaseiah. Baaseiah was the son of Malkijah.
41 fils d’Ethni, fils de Zérakh, fils d’Adaïa,
Malkijah was the son of Ethni. Ethni was the son of Zerah. Zerah was the son of Adaiah.
42 fils d’Éthan, fils de Zimma, fils de Shimhi,
Adaiah was the son of Ethan. Ethan was the son of Zimmah. Zimmah was the son of Shimei.
43 fils de Jakhath, fils de Guershom, fils de Lévi.
Shimei was the son of Jahath. Jahath was the son of Gershon, and Gershon was the son of Levi.
44 Et les fils de Merari, leurs frères, à la gauche: Éthan, fils de Kishi, fils d’Abdi, fils de Malluc,
[A group of singers from] Merari’s family helped Heman and Asaph. They stood to the left of Heman. The leader of this group was Ethan, the son of Kishi. Kishi was the son of Abdi. Abdi was the son of Malluch.
45 fils de Hashabia, fils d’Amatsia, fils de Hilkija,
Malluch was the son of Hashabiah. Hashabiah was the son of Amaziah. Amaziah was the son of Hilkiah.
46 fils d’Amtsi, fils de Bani, fils de Shémer,
Hilkiah was the son of Amzi. Amzi was the son of Bani. Bani was the son of Shemer.
47 fils de Makhli, fils de Mushi, fils de Merari, fils de Lévi.
Shemer was the son of Mahli. Mahli was the son of Mushi. Mushi was the son of Merari, and Merari was the son of Levi.
48 Et leurs frères, les Lévites, furent donnés pour tout le service du tabernacle de la maison de Dieu.
The other descendants of Levi were appointed to do other work in the sacred tent, the place [where the people worshiped] Yahweh.
49 Et Aaron et ses fils faisaient fumer [ce qui se brûlait] sur l’autel de l’holocauste et sur l’autel de l’encens, pour tout le service du lieu très saint, et pour faire propitiation pour Israël, selon tout ce que Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, avait commandé.
Aaron and his descendants were the ones who placed on the altar the sacrifices that were to be burned completely, and they burned incense on another altar. Those sacrifices were in order that Yahweh would no longer be angry with the people of Israel for having sinned. Those men also did other work in the Very Holy Place in the sacred tent, obeying the instructions that Moses, who served God [well], had given to them.
50 Et ce sont ici les fils d’Aaron: Éléazar, son fils; Phinées, son fils; Abishua, son fils;
These were the descendants of Aaron: Aaron’s son was Eleazar. Eleazar’s son was Phinehas. Phinehas’s son was Abishua.
51 Bukki, son fils; Uzzi, son fils; Zerakhia, son fils;
Abishua’s son was Bukki. Bukki’s son was Uzzi. Uzzi’s son was Zerahiah.
52 Meraïoth, son fils; Amaria, son fils; Akhitub, son fils;
Zerahiah’s son was Meraioth. Meraioth’s son was Amariah. Amariah’s son was Ahitub.
53 Tsadok, son fils; Akhimaats, son fils.
Ahitub’s son was Zadok, and Zadok’s son was Ahimaaz.
54 Et ce sont ici leurs habitations, selon leurs enclos, dans leurs confins. – Pour les fils d’Aaron, de la famille des Kehathites, car le sort tomba pour eux:
Here is a list of the places where Aaron’s descendants lived. Those who were descendants of Kohath were the first group to be allotted cities to live in.
55 et on leur donna Hébron, dans le pays de Juda, et sa banlieue autour d’elle;
They were allotted Hebron [city] in Judah and the pastureland around the city,
56 mais la campagne de la ville et ses hameaux, on les donna à Caleb, fils de Jephunné.
but the fields farther from the city and the villages near the city were given to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.
57 Et aux fils d’Aaron on donna la ville de refuge: Hébron; et Libna et sa banlieue, et Jatthir, et Eshtemoa et sa banlieue,
The descendants of Aaron [who were descendants of Kohath] were allotted Hebron, one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone]. They also were allotted the towns and pastureland near Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,
58 et Hilen et sa banlieue, [et] Debir et sa banlieue,
Hilen, Debir,
59 et Ashan et sa banlieue, et Beth-Shémesh et sa banlieue;
Ashan, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh.
60 et de la tribu de Benjamin: Guéba et sa banlieue, et Allémeth et sa banlieue, et Anathoth et sa banlieue. Toutes leurs villes: 13 villes, selon leurs familles.
They were also allotted Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth [cities] from the tribe of Benjamin. Altogether, these clans descended from Kohath were allotted 13 towns.
61 Et aux autres fils de Kehath [on donna], par le sort, dix villes, des familles de la tribu [d’Éphraïm [et de la tribu de Dan] et] de la moitié de la tribu de Manassé;
The other clans descended from Kohath were allotted ten towns from the clans of the tribe of Manasseh [that lived west of the Jordan River].
62 et aux fils de Guershom, selon leurs familles, 13 villes, de la tribu d’Issacar, et de la tribu d’Aser, et de la tribu de Nephthali, et de la tribu de Manassé, en Basan;
The descendants of Gershon were allotted 13 cities and towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived in [the] Bashan [region on the east side of the Jordan River].
63 [et] aux fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, par le sort, douze villes, de la tribu de Ruben, et de la tribu de Gad, et de la tribu de Zabulon.
The descendants of Merari were allotted twelve cities and towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
64 Et les fils d’Israël donnèrent aux Lévites les villes et leurs banlieues.
The leaders of Israel allotted those towns and the nearby pasturelands to the descendants of Levi.
65 Et ils donnèrent, par le sort, de la tribu des fils de Juda, et de la tribu des fils de Siméon, et de la tribu des fils de Benjamin, ces villes-là, qu’ils nommèrent par [leurs] noms.
They also allotted to them the cities and towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin that were listed previously.
66 Et pour les familles des fils de Kehath qui eurent les villes de leur territoire de la tribu d’Éphraïm,
Some of the descendants of Kohath were allotted towns from the tribe of Ephraim.
67 on leur donna la ville de refuge: Sichem et sa banlieue, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm, et Guézer et sa banlieue,
They were allotted Shechem, which was one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone], along with the nearby pastureland in the hills of Ephraim. They were also allotted these towns and pastureland near them: Gezer,
68 et Jokmeam et sa banlieue, et Beth-Horon et sa banlieue,
Jokmeam, Beth-Horon,
69 et Ajalon et sa banlieue, et Gath-Rimmon et sa banlieue;
Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.
70 et de la demi-tribu de Manassé: Aner et sa banlieue, et Bilham et sa banlieue, – pour les familles des autres fils de Kehath.
The other descendants of Kohath were allotted Aner and Bileam towns and the nearby pastureland from the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived west [of the Jordan River].
71 Aux fils de Guershom, [on donna], de la famille de la demi-tribu de Manassé: Golan, en Basan, et sa banlieue, et Ashtaroth et sa banlieue;
The descendants of Gershon, who were part of the tribe of Manasseh, lived east [of the Jordan River]. They were allotted the cities and towns and pastureland near them: Golan in [the] Bashan and Ashtaroth [regions].
72 et de la tribu d’Issacar: Kédesh et sa banlieue, Dobrath et sa banlieue,
From the tribe of Issachar they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh, Daberath,
73 et Ramoth et sa banlieue, et Anem et sa banlieue;
Ramoth, and Anem.
74 et de la tribu d’Aser: Mashal et sa banlieue, et Abdon et sa banlieue,
From the tribe of Asher they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Mashal, Abdon,
75 et Hukok et sa banlieue, et Rehob et sa banlieue;
Hukok, and Rehob.
76 et de la tribu de Nephthali: Kédesh, en Galilée, et sa banlieue, et Hammon et sa banlieue, et Kiriathaïm et sa banlieue.
And from the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh in [the] Galilee [region], and Hammon and Kiriathaim [towns].
77 Aux fils de Merari qui restaient, [on donna], de la tribu de Zabulon: Rimmono et sa banlieue, [et] Thabor et sa banlieue;
The other descendants of Levi, those descended from Merari, were allotted towns and pasturelands from the tribe of Zebulun near Jokneam, Kartah, Rimmono, and Tabor.
78 et au-delà du Jourdain de Jéricho, à l’orient du Jourdain, de la tribu de Ruben: Bétser, au désert, et sa banlieue, et Jahtsa et sa banlieue,
From the tribe of Reuben they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Bezer in the desert, Jahzah, Kedemoth, and Mephaath. The tribe of Reuben lived east of the Jordan [River], across from Jericho.
79 et Kedémoth et sa banlieue, et Méphaath et sa banlieue;
80 et de la tribu de Gad: Ramoth, en Galaad, et sa banlieue, et Mahanaïm et sa banlieue,
From the tribe of Gad, they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Ramoth in [the] Gilead [region], [the cities of] Mahanaim,
81 et Hesbon et sa banlieue, et Jahzer et sa banlieue.
Heshbon, and Jazer.
