1 Chroniques 13

1 Et David tint conseil avec les chefs de milliers et de centaines, avec tous les princes.

Forsothe Dauid took counsel with tribunes, and centuriouns, and alle princes;

2 Et David dit à toute la congrégation d’Israël: Si cela est bon devant vous, et que cela vienne de l’Éternel, notre Dieu, envoyons de tous côtés vers nos autres frères qui restent dans tous les pays d’Israël, et, en même temps, vers les sacrificateurs et les lévites, dans leurs villes et leurs banlieues, afin qu’ils se rassemblent auprès de nous,

and seide to alle the cumpeny of the sones of Israel, If it plesith you, and if the word which Y speke goith out fro oure Lord God, sende we to `oure residue britheren to alle the cuntrees of Israel, and to preestis and dekenes that dwellen in the subarbis of citees, that thei be gaderid to vs,

3 et ramenons à nous l’arche de notre Dieu; car nous ne l’avons pas consultée aux jours de Saül.

and that we brynge ayen to vs the arke of oure God; for we souyten not it in the daies of Saul.

4 Et toute la congrégation dit qu’on fasse ainsi; car la chose était bonne aux yeux de tout le peuple.

And al the multitude answeride, that it schulde be don so; for the word pleside al the puple.

5 Et David assembla tout Israël, depuis le Shikhor d’Égypte jusqu’à l’entrée de Hamath, pour faire venir de Kiriath-Jéarim l’arche de Dieu.

Therfor Dauid gaderide togidere al Israel, fro Sior of Egipt til thou entre in to Emath, that he schulde brynge the arke of God fro Cariathiarim.

6 Et David monta, et tout Israël, à Baala, à Kiriath-Jéarim, qui appartient à Juda, pour en faire monter l’arche de Dieu, l’Éternel, qui siège entre les chérubins, duquel le nom est placé [là].

And Dauid stiede, and alle the men of Israel, to the hil of Cariathiarym, which is in Juda, that he schulde brynge fro thennus the arke of the Lord God sittynge on cherubyn, where his name was clepid.

7 Et ils montèrent l’arche de Dieu sur un chariot neuf, [et l’emmenèrent] de la maison d’Abinadab; et Uzza et Akhio conduisaient le chariot.

And thei puttiden the arke of the Lord God on a newe wayn fro the hous of Amynadab; forsothe Oza and hise britheren driueden the wayn.

8 Et David et tout Israël s’égayaient devant Dieu de toute leur force, avec des cantiques, et des harpes, et des luths, et des tambourins, et des cymbales, et des trompettes.

Forsothe Dauid and al Israel pleieden bifor the Lord, with al miyt, in songis, and in harpis, and sautries, and tympans, and cymbalis, and trumpis.

9 Et ils arrivèrent à l’aire de Kidon, et Uzza étendit sa main pour saisir l’arche, parce que les bœufs avaient bronché.

Forsothe whanne thei hadden come to the cornfloor of Chidon, Oza strechide forth his hond to susteyne the arke; for the oxe wexynge wielde hadde bowid it a litil.

10 Et la colère de l’Éternel s’embrasa contre Uzza, et il le frappa, parce qu’il avait étendu sa main sur l’arche; et il mourut là devant Dieu.

Therfor the Lord was wrooth ayens Oza, and smoot hym, for he hadde touchide the ark; and he was deed there bifor the Lord.

11 Alors David fut irrité, car l’Éternel avait fait une brèche en [la personne d’]Uzza; et il appela ce lieu-là du nom de Pérets-Uzza, [qui lui est resté] jusqu’à ce jour.

And Dauid was sori, for the Lord hadde departid Oza; and he clepide that place The Departyng of Oza `til in to present dai.

12 Et David eut peur de Dieu en ce jour-là, disant: Comment ferais-je entrer chez moi l’arche de Dieu?

And Dauid dredde the Lord in that tyme, and seide, How may Y brynge in to me the arke of the Lord?

13 Et David ne retira pas l’arche chez lui dans la ville de David, mais il la fit détourner dans la maison d’Obed-Édom, le Guitthien.

And for this cause he brouyte not it to hym, that is, in to the citee of Dauid, but he turnede it in to the hows of Obededom of Geth.

14 Et l’arche de Dieu demeura trois mois avec la famille d’Obed-Édom, dans sa maison; et l’Éternel bénit la maison d’Obed-Édom et tout ce qui lui appartenait.

Therfor the arke of God dwellide in the hous of Obededom of Geth thre monethis; and the Lord blessid his hows, and `alle thingis that he hadde.
