1 Chroniques 11
1 Et tout Israël se rassembla vers David à Hébron, disant: Voici, nous sommes ton os et ta chair.
And all Israel is gathered to David at Hebron, saying, “Behold, we [are] your bone and your flesh;
2 Et autrefois, quand aussi Saül était roi, c’était toi qui faisais sortir et qui faisais entrer Israël; et l’Éternel, ton Dieu, t’a dit: Tu paîtras mon peuple Israël, et tu seras prince sur mon peuple Israël.
even in time past, even in Saul’s being king, it is you who are taking out and bringing in Israel, and your God YHWH says to you: You feed My people Israel, and you are leader over My people Israel.”
3 Et tous les anciens d’Israël vinrent vers le roi à Hébron; et David fit alliance avec eux à Hébron, devant l’Éternel; et ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël, selon la parole de l’Éternel par Samuel.
And all [the] elderly of Israel come to the king at Hebron, and David makes a covenant with them in Hebron before YHWH, and they anoint David for king over Israel, according to the word of YHWH by the hand of Samuel.
4 Et David et tous ceux d’Israël s’en allèrent à Jérusalem, qui est Jébus; et là étaient les Jébusiens, habitants du pays.
And David goes, and all Israel, to Jerusalem—it [is] Jebus—and the Jebusite [is] there, the inhabitants of the land.
5 Et les habitants de Jébus dirent à David: Tu n’entreras point ici. Mais David prit la forteresse de Sion: c’est la ville de David.
And the inhabitants of Jebus say to David, “You do not come in here”; and David captures the fortress of Zion—it [is] the City of David.
6 Et David dit: Quiconque frappera le premier les Jébusiens, sera chef et capitaine. Et Joab, fils de Tseruïa, monta le premier, et fut chef.
And David says, “Whoever strikes the Jebusite first becomes head and prince”; and Joab son of Zeruiah goes up first and becomes head.
7 Et David habita dans la forteresse; c’est pourquoi on l’appela ville de David.
And David dwells in the fortress, therefore they have called it the City of David;
8 Et il bâtit la ville tout à l’entour, depuis Millo, et tout autour; et Joab releva le reste de la ville.
and he builds the city all around, from Millo, and to the circumference, and Joab restores the rest of the city.
9 Et David allait grandissant de plus en plus; et l’Éternel des armées était avec lui.
And David goes, going on and becoming great, and YHWH of Hosts [is] with him.
10 Et ce sont ici les chefs des hommes forts que David avait, qui se fortifièrent dans son royaume avec lui, avec tout Israël, pour le faire roi, selon la parole de l’Éternel touchant Israël.
And these [are] heads of the mighty ones whom David has, who are strengthening themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to cause him to reign, according to the word of YHWH, over Israel.
11 Et voici le nombre des hommes forts que David avait: Jashobham, fils de Hacmoni, chef des principaux capitaines; il leva sa lance contre 300 hommes, qu’il tua en une fois.
And this [is] an account of the mighty ones whom David has: Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite [is] head of the thirty; he is lifting up his spear against three hundred—wounded, at one time.
12 Et après lui, Éléazar, fils de Dodo, l’Akhokhite: il était l’un des trois hommes forts.
And after him [is] Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite, he [is] among the three mighty;
13 Il fut avec David à Pas-Dammim; et les Philistins s’étaient assemblés là pour combattre; et il y avait une portion de champ pleine d’orge, et le peuple avait fui devant les Philistins.
he has been with David in Pas-Dammim, and the Philistines have been gathered there to battle, and a portion of the field is full of barley, and the people have fled from the face of the Philistines,
14 Et ils se placèrent au milieu du champ, et le sauvèrent, et frappèrent les Philistins; et l’Éternel opéra une grande délivrance.
and they station themselves in the midst of the portion, and deliver it, and strike the Philistines, and YHWH saves [with] a great salvation.
15 Et trois des trente chefs descendirent au rocher, vers David, dans la caverne d’Adullam, comme l’armée des Philistins était campée dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
And three of the thirty heads go down on the rock to David, to the cave of Adullam, and the host of the Philistines is encamping in the Valley of Rephaim,
16 Et David était alors dans le lieu fort, et il y avait alors un poste des Philistins à Bethléhem.
and David [is] then in the fortress, and the station of the Philistines [is] then in Beth-Lehem,
17 Et David convoita, et dit: Qui me fera boire de l’eau du puits de Bethléhem, qui est près de la porte?
and David longs and says, “Who gives me water to drink from the well of Beth-Lehem that [is] at the gate!”
18 Et les trois forcèrent le passage à travers le camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l’eau du puits de Bethléhem, qui est près de la porte, et la prirent et l’apportèrent à David; et David ne voulut pas la boire, mais il en fit une libation à l’Éternel.
And the three break through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water from the well of Beth-Lehem that [is] at the gate, and carry and bring [it] to David, and David has not been willing to drink it, and pours it out to YHWH,
19 Et il dit: Loin de moi, par mon Dieu, que je fasse cela! Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes [qui sont allés] au péril de leur vie? Car c’est au péril de leur vie qu’ils l’ont apportée. Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Ces trois hommes forts firent cela.
and says, “Far be it from me, by my God, to do this; do I drink the blood of these men with their lives? For with their lives they have brought it”; and he was not willing to drink it; these [things] the three mighty ones did.
20 Et Abishaï, frère de Joab, était chef de trois; il leva sa lance contre 300 hommes, qu’il tua. Et il eut un nom parmi les trois:
And Abishai brother of Joab, he has been head of the three: and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred—wounded, and has a name among three.
21 entre les trois il fut honoré à côté des deux, et il fut leur chef; mais il n’atteignit pas les trois [premiers].
Of the three he is more honored than the [other] two, and becomes their head; but he has not come to the [first] three.
22 Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada, fils d’un homme vaillant, de Kabtseël, grand en exploits, lui, frappa deux lions de Moab; et il descendit, et frappa le lion dans une fosse, par un jour de neige.
Benaiah son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valor, of great deeds, from Kabzeel: he has struck the two lion-like Moabites, and he has gone down and struck the lion in the midst of the pit, in the day of snow.
23 Et c’est lui qui frappa l’homme égyptien, dont la stature était de cinq coudées; et l’Égyptien avait en sa main une lance [qui était] comme l’ensouple des tisserands; et il descendit vers lui avec un bâton, et arracha la lance de la main de l’Égyptien, et le tua avec sa propre lance.
And he has struck the man, the Egyptian, a man of [great] measure—five by the cubit—and in the hand of the Egyptian [is] a spear like a weavers’ beam, and he goes down to him with a rod, and violently takes away the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slays him with his own spear.
24 Voilà ce que fit Benaïa, fils de Jehoïada; et il eut un nom parmi les trois hommes forts:
These [things] Benaiah son of Jehoiada has done, and has a name among the three mighty ones.
25 voici, il fut plus honoré que les trente, mais il n’atteignit pas les trois [premiers]. Et David lui donna une place dans ses audiences privées.
Of the thirty, behold, he [is] honored, but he has not come to the [first] three, and David sets him over his guard.
26 Et les hommes vaillants de l’armée étaient: Asçaël, frère de Joab; Elkhanan, fils de Dodo, de Bethléhem;
And the mighty ones of the forces [are] Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem,
27 Shammoth, le Harorite; Hélets, le Pelonite;
Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28 Ira, fils d’Ikkesh, le Thekohite; Abiézer, l’Anathothite;
Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi-Ezer the Annethothite,
29 Sibbecaï, le Hushathite; Ilaï, l’Akhokhite;
