1 Adam, Seth, Énosh,
[The first person God created was Adam]. Adam’s [son was] Seth. [Seth’s son was] Enosh. [Enosh’s son was] Kenan.
2 Kénan, Mahalaleël, Jéred,
[Kenan’s son was] Mahalalel. [Mahalalel’s son was] Jared. [Jared’s son was] Enoch.
3 Hénoc, Methushélah, Lémec,
[Enoch’s son was] Methuselah. [Methusalah’s son was] Lamech. [Lamech’s son was] Noah.
4 Noé; Sem, Cham, et Japheth.
[Noah’s sons were] Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

The sons (OR, descendants) of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

The sons (OR, descendants) of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
7 – Et les fils de Javan: Élisha, et Tarsis, Kittim, et Rodanim.
The descendants of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.
8 Les fils de Cham: Cush, et Mitsraïm, Puth, et Canaan.
The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim (OR, Egypt), Put, and Canaan.
9 – Et les fils de Cush: Seba, et Havila, et Sabta, et Rahma, et Sabteca. – Et les fils de Rahma: Sheba et Dedan.
The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons (OR, descendants) of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
10 – Et Cush engendra Nimrod: lui, commença à être puissant sur la terre.
Another descendant of Cush was Nimrod. When he grew up, he became a mighty warrior on the earth.

Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, who was the father of Eber.
19 Et il naquit à Héber deux fils: le nom de l’un fut Péleg, car en ses jours la terre fut partagée; et le nom de son frère fut Joktan.
Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg [which sounds like the word that means ‘divided’] because during the time that he lived, [the people on] the earth were divided [into various language groups]. Peleg’s [younger] brother was Joktan.
20 Et Joktan engendra Almodad, et Shéleph, et Hatsarmaveth, et Jérakh,
Joktan was the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
21 et Hadoram, et Uzal, et Dikla,
Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
22 et Ébal, et Abimaël, et Sheba,
Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
23 et Ophir, et Havila, et Jobab: tous ceux-là sont fils de Joktan.

The descendants of Shem, [in order from him to Abraham], were Arphaxad, Shelah,

[After]’s [wife Sarah died, he took another wife named] Keturah. The sons of Abraham and Keturah were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. Jokshan’s sons were Sheba and Dedan.

Midian’s sons were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah.

The son of Abraham [and his wife Sarah] was Isaac, and Isaac’s sons were Esau and [Jacob, whose name was later changed to] Israel.
35 – Les fils d’Ésaü: Éliphaz, Rehuel, et Jehush, et Jahlam, et Coré.
The sons of Esau were Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
36 – Les fils d’Éliphaz: Théman, et Omar, Tsephi, et Gahtam; Kenaz, et Thimna, et Amalek.
The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho (OR, Zephi), Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek.
37 – Les fils de Rehuel: Nakhath, Zérakh, Shamma, et Mizza.
Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.
38 Et les fils de Séhir: Lotan, et Shobal, et Tsibhon, et Ana, et Dishon, et Étser, et Dishan.
[Another descendant of Esau was Seir. His descendants lived in the Edom region]. Seir’s sons were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.

Lotan’s sons were Hori and Homam, and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
40 – Les fils de Shobal: Alian, et Manakhath, et Ébal, Shephi, et Onam. – Et les fils de Tsibhon: Aïa et Ana.
Shobal’s sons were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. Zibeon’s sons were Aiah and Anah.
41 – Les fils d’Ana: Dishon. – Et les fils de Dishon: Hamran, et Eshban, et Jithran, et Keran.
Anah’s son was Dishon. 1 Dishon’s sons were Hemdan (OR, Hamran), Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
42 – Les fils d’Étser: Bilhan, et Zaavan, [et] Jaakan. – Les fils de Dishan: Uts et Aran.
Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan (OR, Jaakan). Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
43 Et ce sont ici les rois qui régnèrent dans le pays d’Édom, avant qu’un roi règne sur les fils d’Israël: Béla, fils de Béor; et le nom de sa ville était Dinhaba.
[These are the names of] the kings that ruled [the] Edom [region] before any kings ruled over Israel: Bela, the son of Beor, was king in Edom, and the name of the city [in which he lived] was Dinhabah.
44 – Et Béla mourut; et Jobab, fils de Zérakh, de Botsra, régna à sa place.
When Bela died, Jobab, the son of Zerah from Bozrah [city], became the king.
45 – Et Jobab mourut; et Husham, du pays des Thémanites, régna à sa place.
When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
46 – Et Husham mourut; et à sa place régna Hadad, fils de Bedad, qui frappa Madian dans les champs de Moab; et le nom de sa ville était Avith.
When Husham died, Hadad, the son of Bedad, became the king. He [ruled in] Avith city. Hadad’s [army] defeated [the army of the] Midian [people-group] in [the] Moab [region].
47 – Et Hadad mourut; et Samla, de Masréka, régna à sa place.
When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
48 – Et Samla mourut; et Saül, de Rehoboth sur le fleuve, régna à sa place.
When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [city] along the [Euphrates] river.
49 – Et Saül mourut; et Baal-Hanan, fils d’Acbor, régna à sa place.
When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan, the son of Achbor, became the king.
50 – Et Baal-Hanan mourut; et Hadad régna à sa place; et le nom de sa ville était Pahi; et le nom de sa femme, Mehétabeël, fille de Matred, fille de Mézahab.
When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became the king. He was from Pau city. His wife’s name was Mehetabel; she was the daughter of Matred and the granddaughter of Me-Zahab.
51 Et Hadad mourut. Et il y eut des chefs d’Édom: le chef Thimna, le chef Alia, le chef Jetheth,
Then Hadad died. The leaders of the clans of the Edom people-group were Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
52 le chef Oholibama, le chef Éla, le chef Pinon,
Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
53 le chef Kenaz, le chef Théman, le chef Mibtsar,
Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
54 le chef Magdiel, le chef Iram. Ce sont là les chefs d’Édom.
