Psaumes 94
1 Dieu des vengeances, Yahweh, Dieu des vengeances, parais!
O God, in whose hands is punishment, O God of punishment, let your shining face be seen.
2 Lève-toi, juge de la terre, rends aux superbes selon leurs œuvres!
Be lifted up, O judge of the earth; let their reward come to the men of pride.
3 Jusques à quand les méchants, Yahweh, jusques à quand les méchants triompheront-ils?
How long will sinners, O Lord, how long will sinners have joy over us?
4 Ils se répandent en discours arrogants, ils se glorifient, tous ces artisans d'iniquité.
Words of pride come from their lips; all the workers of evil say great things of themselves.
5 Yahweh, ils écrasent ton peuple, ils oppriment ton héritage,
Your people are crushed by them, O Lord, your heritage is troubled,
6 ils égorgent la veuve et l'étranger, ils massacrent les orphelins.
They put to death the widow and the guest, they take the lives of children who have no father;
7 Et ils disent: " Yahweh ne regarde pas, le Dieu de Jacob ne fait pas attention. "
And they say, Jah will not see it, the God of Jacob will not give thought to it.
8 Comprenez-donc, stupides enfants du peuple! Insensés, quand aurez-vous l'intelligence?
Give your mind to my words, you who are without wisdom among the people; you foolish men, when will you be wise?
9 Celui qui a planté l'oreille n'entendrait-il pas? Celui qui a formé l'œil ne verrait-il pas?
Has he by whom your ears were planted no hearing? or is he blind by whom your eyes were formed?
10 Celui qui châtie les nations ne punirait-il pas? Celui qui donne à l'homme l'intelligence ne reconnaîtrait-il pas?
He who is the judge of the nations, will he not give men the reward of their acts, even he who gives knowledge to man?
11 Yahweh connaît les pensées des hommes, il sait qu'elles sont vaines.
The Lord has knowledge of the thoughts of man, for they are only a breath.
12 Heureux l'homme que tu instruis, Yahweh, et à qui tu donnes l'enseignement de ta loi,
Happy is the man who is guided by you, O Jah, and to whom you give teaching out of your law;
13 pour l'apaiser aux jours du malheur, jusqu'à ce que la fosse soit creusée pour le méchant.
So that you may give him rest from the days of evil, till a hole is made ready for the destruction of the sinners.
14 Car Yahweh ne rejettera pas son peuple, il n'abandonnera pas son héritage;
The Lord will not give up his people, or take away his support from his heritage;
15 mais le jugement redeviendra conforme à la justice, et tous les hommes au cœur droit y applaudiront.
But decisions will again be made in righteousness; and they will be kept by all whose hearts are true.
16 Qui se lèvera pour moi contre les méchants? Qui me soutiendra contre ceux qui font le mal?
Who will give me help against the sinners? and who will be my support against the workers of evil?
17 Si Yahweh n'était pas mon secours, mon âme habiterait bientôt le séjour du silence.
If the Lord had not been my helper, my soul would quickly have gone down into death.
18 Quand je dis: " Mon pied chancelle, " ta bonté, Yahweh, me soutient.
If I say, My foot is slipping; your mercy, O Lord, is my support.
19 Quand les angoisses s'agitent en foule dans ma pensée, tes consolations réjouissent mon âme.
Among all my troubled thoughts, your comforts are the delight of my soul.
20 A-t-il rien de commun avec toi le tribunal de perdition, qui fait le mal dans les formes légales?
What part with you has the seat of sin, which makes evil into a law?
21 Ils s'empressent contre la vie du juste, et ils condamnent le sang innocent.
They are banded together against the soul of the upright, to give decisions against those who have done no wrong.
22 Mais Yahweh est ma forteresse, mon Dieu est le rocher où je m'abrite.
But the Lord is my safe resting-place; my God is the Rock where I am safe.
23 Il fera retomber sur eux leur iniquité, il les exterminera par leur propre malice, il les exterminera, Yahweh, notre Dieu!
And he has made their evil designs come back on themselves, cutting them off in their sin; the Lord our God will put an end to them.
