Psaumes 76
1 Au maître de chant. Avec instruments à cordes. Psaume d’Asaph, cantique. Dieu s’est fait connaître en Juda, en Israël son nom est grand.
For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
2 Il a son tabernacle à Salem, et sa demeure en Sion.
In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
3 C’est là qu’il a brisé les éclairs de l’arc, le bouclier, l’épée et la guerre. — Séla.
There he brake the arrows of the bow; the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Selah)
4 Tu resplendis dans ta majesté, sur les montagnes d’ où tu fonds sur ta proie.
Glorious art thou [and] excellent, from the mountains of prey.
5 Ils ont été dépouillés, ces héros pleins de cœur; ils se sont endormis de leur sommeil, ils n’ont pas su, tous ces vaillants, se servir de leurs bras.
The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands.
6 À ta menace, Dieu de Jacob, char et coursier sont restés immobiles.
At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
7 Tu es redoutable, toi! Qui peut se tenir devant toi, quand ta colère éclate?
Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
8 Du haut du ciel tu as proclamé la sentence; la terre a tremblé et s’est tue,
Thou didst cause sentence to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9 lorsque Dieu s’est levé pour faire justice, pour sauver tous les malheureux du pays. — Séla.
When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. (Selah)
10 Ainsi la fureur de l’homme tourne à la gloire et les restes de la colère…
Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the residue of wrath shalt thou gird upon thee.
11 Faites des vœux et acquittez-les à Yahweh, votre Dieu; que tous ceux qui l’environnent apportent des dons au Dieu terrible!
Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
12 Il abat l’orgueil des puissants, il est redoutable aux rois de la terre.
He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
