Psaumes 4
1 Au maître de chant, sur les instruments à cordes. Psaume de David. Quand je t’invoque, réponds-moi, Dieu de ma justice, toi qui dans ma détresse, me mets au large. Aie pitié de moi et entends ma prière!
“To the chief musician on Neginoth, a psalm of David.” When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness: amidst distress thou hast [ever] granted me enlargement; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.
2 Fils des hommes, jusques à quand ma gloire sera-t-elle outragée? Jusques à quand aimerez-vous la vanité, et rechercherez-vous le mensonge? — Séla.
O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be put to shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, will ye seek for lies? (Selah)
3 Sachez que Yahweh s’est choisi un homme pieux; Yahweh entend quand je l’invoque.
But know that the Lord hath set apart the pious for himself: the Lord will hear when I call on him.
4 Tremblez, et ne péchez plus! Parlez-vous à vous-mêmes sur votre couche, et cessez! — Séla.
Tremble, and sin not: commune with your heart upon your bed, and be still (Selah)
5 Offrez des sacrifices de justice, et confiez-vous en Yahweh.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
6 Beaucoup disent: « Qui nous fera voir le bonheur? » Fais lever sur nous la lumière de ta face, Yahweh!
Many say, “Who will show us happiness? Let shine brightly over us the light of thy countenance, O Lord.”
7 Tu as mis dans mon cœur plus de joie qu’ils n’en ont au temps où abondent leur froment et leur vin nouveau.
[But] thou hast placed more joy in my heart than at the time when their corn and their wine were increased.
8 En paix je me coucherai et je m’endormirai aussitôt; car toi, Yahweh, toi seul, tu me fais habiter dans la sécurité.
In peace, altogether, will I lay me down and sleep; for thou, Lord, alone, causest me to dwell in safety.
