Psaumes 36
1 Au maître de chant. De David, serviteur de Yahweh. L’iniquité parle au méchant dans le fond de son cœur; la crainte de Dieu n’est pas devant ses yeux.
Unto the end, for the servant of God, David himself. The unjust hath said within himself, that he would sin: there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 Car il se flatte lui-même, sous le regard divin, doutant que Dieu découvre jamais son crime et le déteste.
For in his sight he hath done deceitfully, that his iniquity may be found unto hatred.
3 Les paroles de sa bouche sont injustice et tromperie; il a cessé d’avoir l’intelligence, de faire le bien.
The words of his mouth are iniquity and guile: he would not understand that he might do well.
4 Il médite l’iniquité sur sa couche; il se tient sur une voie qui n’est pas bonne; il ne rejette pas le mal.
He hath devised iniquity on his bed, he hath set himself on every way that is not good: but evil he hath not hated.
5 Yahweh, ta bonté atteint jusqu’aux cieux, ta fidélité jusqu’aux nues.
O Lord, thy mercy is in heaven, and thy truth reacheth, even to the clouds.
6 Ta justice est comme les montagnes de Dieu, tes jugements sont comme le vaste abîme. Yahweh, tu gardes les hommes et les bêtes:
Thy justice is as the mountains of God, thy judgments are a great deep. Men and beasts thou wilt preserve, O Lord:
7 combien est précieuse ta bonté, ô Dieu! À l’ombre de tes ailes les fils de l’homme cherchent un refuge.
O how hast thou multiplied thy mercy, O God! But the children of men shall put their trust under the covert of thy wings.
8 Ils s’enivrent de la graisse de ta maison, et tu les abreuves au torrent de tes délices.
They shall be inebriated with the plenty of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the torrent of thy pleasure.
9 Car auprès de toi est la source de la vie, et dans ta lumière nous voyons la lumière.
For with thee is the fountain of life; and in thy light we shall see light.
10 Continue ta bonté à ceux qui te connaissent, et ta justice à ceux qui ont le cœur droit.
Extend thy mercy to them that know thee, and thy justice to them that are right in heart.
11 Que le pied de l’orgueilleux ne m’atteigne pas, et que la main des méchants ne me fasse pas fuir!
Let not the foot of pride come to me, and let not the hand of the sinner move me.
12 Les voilà tombés, ceux qui commettent l’iniquité!
There the workers of iniquity are fallen, they are cast out, and could not stand.
