Psaumes 18
1 Au maître de chant. Psaume du serviteur de Yahweh, de David, qui adressa à Yahweh les paroles de ce cantique, au jour où Yahweh l'eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül. Il dit: Je t'aime, Yahweh, ma force!
For the Chief Musician. By David the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said, I love you, LORD, my strength.
2 Yahweh mon rocher, ma forteresse, mon libérateur, mon Dieu, mon roc où je trouve un asile, mon bouclier, la corne de mon salut, ma citadelle!
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
3 J'invoquai celui qui est digne de louange, Yahweh, et je fus délivré de mes ennemis.
I call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; and I am saved from my enemies.
4 Les liens de la mort m'environnaient, les torrents de Bélial m'épouvantaient,
The cords of death surrounded me. The floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
The cords of Sheol (Sheol h7585) were around me. The snares of death came on me.
6 Dans ma détresse, j'invoquai Yahweh, et je criai vers mon Dieu; de son temple il entendit ma voix, et mon cri devant lui parvint à ses oreilles.
In my distress I called on the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry before him came into his ears.
7 La terre fut ébranlée et trembla, les fondements des montagnes s'agitèrent, et ils furent ébranlés, parce qu'il était courroucé;
Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations also of the mountains quaked and were shaken, because he was angry.
8 une fumée montait de ses narines, et un feu dévorant sortait de sa bouche; il en jaillissait des charbons embrasés.
Smoke went out of his nostrils. Consuming fire came out of his mouth. Coals were kindled by it.
9 il abaissa les cieux, et descendit; une sombre nuée était sous ses pieds.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down. Thick darkness was under his feet.
10 Il monta sur un Chérubin, et il volait; il planait sur les ailes du vent.
He rode on a cherub, and flew. Yes, he soared on the wings of the wind.
11 Il fit des ténèbres sa retraite, sa tente autour de lui c'étaient des eaux obscures et de sombres nuages.
He made darkness his hiding place, his pavilion around him, darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
12 De l'éclat qui le précédait s'élancèrent ses nuées, portant la grêle et les charbons ardents.
At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, hailstones and coals of fire.
13 Yahweh tonna dans les cieux, le Très-Haut fit retentir sa voix: grêle et charbons ardents!
The LORD also thundered in the sky. The Most High uttered his voice: hailstones and coals of fire.
14 Il lança ses flèches et les dispersa; il multiplia ses foudres et il les confondit.
He sent out his arrows, and scattered them. He routed them with great lightning bolts.
15 Alors le lit des eaux apparut, les fondements de la terre furent mis à nu, à ta menace, Yahweh, au souffle du vent de tes narines.
Then the channels of waters appeared. The foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
16 Il étendit sa main d'en haut et me saisit, il me retira des grandes eaux.
He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters.
17 Il me délivra de mon ennemi puissant, de ceux qui me haïssaient, alors qu'ils étaient plus forts que moi.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me.
18 Ils m'avaient surpris au jour de mon malheur; mais Yahweh fut mon appui.
They came on me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support.
19 Il m'a mis au large, il m'a sauvé, parce qu'il s'est complu en moi.
He brought me out also into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me.
20 Yahweh m'a récompensé selon ma justice, il m'a rendu selon la pureté de mes mains.
The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands, he has recompensed me.
21 Car j'ai gardé les voies de Yahweh, et je n'ai pas péché, pour m'éloigner de mon Dieu.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 Tous ses jugements étaient devant moi, et je n'ai point rejeté loin de moi ses lois.
For all his ordinances were before me. I did not put away his statutes from me.
23 J'étais sans reproche envers lui, et je me tenais en garde contre mon iniquité.
I was also blameless with him. I kept myself from my iniquity.
24 Yahweh m'a rendu selon ma justice, selon la pureté de mes mains devant ses yeux.
Therefore the LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
25 Avec celui qui est bon tu te montres bon, avec l'homme droit tu te montres droit;
With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man, you will show yourself perfect.
26 avec celui qui est pur tu te montres pur, et avec le fourbe tu agis perfidement.
With the pure, you will show yourself pure. With the crooked you will show yourself shrewd.
27 Car tu sauves le peuple humilié, et tu abaisses les regards hautains.
For you will save the afflicted people, but the arrogant eyes you will bring down.
28 Oui, tu fais briller mon flambeau; Yahweh, mon Dieu, éclaire mes ténèbres.
For you will light my lamp, LORD. My God will light up my darkness.
29 Avec toi je me précipite sur les bataillons armés; avec mon Dieu je franchis les murailles.
For by you, I advance through a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall.
30 Dieu!... Ses voies sont parfaites; la parole de Yahweh est éprouvée, il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui.
As for God, his way is perfect. The LORD’s word is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.
31 Car qui est Dieu, si ce n'est Yahweh, et qui est un rocher, si ce n'est notre Dieu?
For who is God, except the LORD? Who is a rock, besides our God,
32 Le Dieu qui me ceint de force, qui rend ma voie parfaite;
the God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect?
33 qui rend mes pieds semblables à ceux des biches, et me fait tenir debout sur mes hauteurs;
He makes my feet like deer’s feet, and sets me on my high places.
34 qui forme mes mains au combat, et mes bras tendent l'arc d'airain.
He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms bend a bow of bronze.
35 Tu m'as donné le bouclier de ton salut, et ta droite me soutient, et ta douceur me fait grandir.
You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great.
36 Tu élargis mon pas au-dessous de moi, et mes pieds ne chancellent point.
You have enlarged my steps under me, My feet have not slipped.
37 Je poursuis mes ennemis et je les atteins; je ne reviens pas sans les avoir anéantis.
I will pursue my enemies, and overtake them. I will not turn away until they are consumed.
38 Je les brise, et ils ne se relèvent pas; Ils tombent sous mes pieds.
I will strike them through, so that they will not be able to rise. They shall fall under my feet.
39 Tu me ceins de force pour le combat, tu fais plier sous moi mes adversaires.
For you have armed me with strength to the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
40 Mes ennemis!... tu leur fais tourner le dos devant moi, et j'extermine ceux qui me haïssent.
You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.
41 Ils crient, et personne pour les sauver! Ils crient vers Yahweh, et il ne leur répond pas!
They cried, but there was no one to save; even to the LORD, but he did not answer them.
42 Je les broie comme la poussière livrée au vent, je les balaie comme la boue des rues.
Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind. I cast them out as the mire of the streets.
43 Tu me délivres des révoltes du peuple, tu me mets à la tête des nations; Des peuples que je ne connaissais pas me sont asservis.
You have delivered me from the strivings of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known shall serve me.
44 Dès qu'ils ont entendu, ils m'obéissent; les fils de l'étranger me flattent.
As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me. The foreigners shall submit themselves to me.
45 Les fils de l'étranger sont défaillants, ils sortent tremblants de leurs forteresses.
The foreigners shall fade away, and shall come trembling out of their strongholds.
46 Vive Yahweh et béni soit mon rocher! Que le Dieu de mon salut soit exalté;
The LORD lives! Blessed be my rock. Exalted be the God of my salvation,
47 Dieu qui m'accorde des vengeances, qui me soumet les peuples,
even the God who executes vengeance for me, and subdues peoples under me.
48 qui me délivre de mes ennemis! Oui, tu m'élèves au-dessus de mes adversaires, tu me sauves de l'homme de violence.
He rescues me from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You deliver me from the violent man.
49 C'est pourquoi je te louerai parmi les nations, ô Yahweh; je chanterai à la gloire de ton nom:
Therefore I will give thanks to you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name.
50 Il accorde de glorieuses délivrances à son roi, il fait miséricorde à son oint, à David et à sa postérité pour toujours.
He gives great deliverance to his king, and shows loving kindness to his anointed, to David and to his offspring, forever more.
