Proverbes 6
1 Mon fils, si tu t’es rendu caution pour ton ami, si tu t’es engagé pour un étranger,
Mi sone, if thou hast bihiyt for thi freend; thou hast fastned thin hoond at a straunger.
2 si tu es lié par les paroles de ta bouche, si tu es pris par les paroles de ta bouche,
Thou art boundun bi the wordis of thi mouth; and thou art takun with thin owne wordis.
3 fais donc ceci, mon ami: dégage-toi! Puisque tu es tombé aux mains de ton prochain, va, prosterne-toi et presse-le vivement!
Therfor, my sone, do thou that that Y seie, and delyuere thi silf; for thou hast fallun in to the hond of thi neiybore. Renne thou aboute, haste thou, reise thi freend;
4 Ne donne ni sommeil à tes yeux, ni assoupissement à tes paupières;
yyue thou not sleep to thin iyen, nether thin iyeliddis nappe.
5 dégage-toi, comme la gazelle de la main du chasseur, comme l’oiseau de la main de l’oiseleur.
Be thou rauyschid as a doo fro the hond; and as a bridde fro aspiyngis of the foulere.
6 Va vers la fourmi ô paresseux; considère ses voies et deviens sage.
O! thou slowe man, go to the `amte, ether pissemyre; and biholde thou hise weies, and lerne thou wisdom.
7 Elle qui n’a ni chef, ni inspecteur de travaux, ni souverain,
Which whanne he hath no duyk, nethir comaundour, nether prince;
8 elle amasse en été de quoi manger, elle recueille pendant la moisson sa nourriture.
makith redi in somer mete to hym silf, and gaderith togidere in heruest that, that he schal ete.
9 Jusques à quand, ô paresseux, seras-tu couché, quand te lèveras-tu de ton sommeil?
Hou long schalt thou, slow man, slepe? whanne schalt thou rise fro thi sleep?
10 « Un peu de sommeil, un peu d’assoupissement, un peu croiser les mains sur son lit. »
A litil thou schalt slepe, a litil thou schalt nappe; a litil thou schalt ioyne togidere thin hondis, that thou slepe.
11 Et ta pauvreté viendra comme un voyageur, et ta disette comme un homme en armes!
And nedynesse, as a weigoere, schal come to thee; and pouert, as an armed man. Forsothe if thou art not slow, thi ripe corn schal come as a welle; and nedynesse schal fle fer fro thee.
12 Un homme pervers, un homme inique, marche la perversité dans la bouche;
A man apostata, a man vnprofitable, he goith with a weiward mouth;
13 il cligne les yeux, gratte du pied, fait des signes avec les doigts.
he bekeneth with iyen, he trampith with the foot, he spekith with the fyngur,
14 La perversité est dans son cœur, il médite le mal en tout temps, il suscite des querelles.
bi schrewid herte he ymagyneth yuel, and in al tyme he sowith dissenciouns.
15 Aussi sa ruine viendra subitement; il sera brisé tout d’un coup et sans remède.
His perdicioun schal come to hym anoon, and he schal be brokun sodeynli; and he schal no more haue medecyn.
16 Il y a six choses que hait Yahweh, il y en a sept qu’il a en horreur:
Sixe thingis ben, whyche the Lord hatith; and hise soule cursith the seuenthe thing.
17 les yeux altiers, la langue menteuse, les mains qui font couler le sang innocent,
Hiye iyen, a tunge liere, hondis schedinge out innocent blood,
18 le cœur qui médite des projets coupables, les pieds empressés à courir au mal,
an herte ymagynynge worste thouytis, feet swifte to renne in to yuel,
19 le faux témoin qui profère des mensonges, et celui qui sème la discorde entre frères.
a man bringynge forth lesingis, a fals witnesse; and him that sowith discordis among britheren.
20 Mon fils, garde le précepte de ton père, et ne rejette pas l’enseignement de ta mère.
Mi sone, kepe the comaundementis of thi fadir; and forsake not the lawe of thi modir.
21 Lie-les constamment sur ton cœur, attache-les à ton cou.
Bynde thou tho continueli in thin herte; and cumpasse `to thi throte.
22 Il te dirigera dans ta marche, il te gardera dans ton sommeil; à ton réveil, il conversera avec toi.
Whanne thou goist, go tho with thee; whanne thou slepist, kepe tho thee; and thou wakynge speke with tho.
23 Car le précepte est une lampe, et la loi une lumière, et les avertissements qui instruisent sont le chemin de la vie.
For the comaundement of God is a lanterne, and the lawe is liyt, and the blamyng of techyng is the weie of lijf;
24 Ils te préserveront de la femme perverse, de la langue doucereuse de l’étrangère.
`that the comaundementis kepe thee fro an yuel womman, and fro a flaterynge tunge of a straunge womman.
25 Ne convoite pas sa beauté dans ton cœur, et qu’elle ne te séduise pas par ses paupières.
Thin herte coueite not the fairnesse of hir; nether be thou takun bi the signes of hir.
26 Car pour la courtisane on se réduit à un morceau de pain, et la femme mariée prend au piège une vie précieuse.
For the prijs of an hoore is vnnethe of o loof; but a womman takith the preciouse soule of a man.
27 Se peut-il qu’un homme mette du feu dans son sein, sans que ses vêtements s’enflamment?
Whether a man mai hide fier in his bosum, that hise clothis brenne not;
28 Ou bien un homme marchera-t-il sur des charbons ardents sans que ses pieds soient brûlés?
ethir go on colis, and hise feet be not brent?
29 Ainsi en est-il de celui qui va vers la femme de son prochain: quiconque la touche ne saurait rester impuni.
So he that entrith to the wijf of his neiybore; schal not be cleene, whanne he hath touchid hir.
30 On ne méprise pas un voleur qui dérobe pour satisfaire sa faim, quand il n’a rien à manger:
It is not greet synne, whanne a man stelith; for he stelith to fille an hungri soule.
31 surpris, il rend sept fois autant, il donne tout ce qu’il a dans sa maison.
And he takun schal yelde the seuenthe fold; and he schal yyue al the catel of his hous, and schal delyuere hym silf.
32 Mais celui qui corrompt une femme est dépourvu de sens; il se perd lui-même, celui qui agit de la sorte;
But he that is avouter; schal leese his soule, for the pouert of herte.
33 il ne recueille que plaie et ignominie, et son opprobre ne s’effacera pas.
He gaderith filthe, and sclaundrith to hym silf; and his schenschip schal not be don awei.
34 Car la jalousie excite la fureur de l’homme outragé; il est sans pitié au jour de la vengeance;
For the feruent loue and strong veniaunce of the man schal not spare in the dai of veniaunce,
35 il n’a égard à aucune rançon; il n’ en veut pas, quand même tu multiplierais les présents.
nether schal assente to the preieris of ony; nether schal take ful many yiftis for raunsum.
