Proverbes 4
1 Écoutez, mes fils, l’instruction d’un père, et soyez attentifs, pour apprendre l’intelligence;
Heare, O ye children, the instruction of a father, and giue eare to learne vnderstanding.
2 car je vous donne une bonne doctrine: n’abandonnez pas mon enseignement.
For I doe giue you a good doctrine: therefore forsake yee not my lawe.
3 Moi aussi j’ai été un fils pour mon père, un fils tendre et unique auprès de ma mère.
For I was my fathers sonne, tender and deare in the sight of my mother,
4 Il m’instruisait et il me disait: « Que ton cœur retienne mes paroles, observe mes préceptes, et tu vivras.
When he taught me, and sayde vnto me, Let thine heart holde fast my woordes: keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue.
5 Acquiers la sagesse, acquiers l’intelligence; n’oublie pas les paroles de ma bouche, et ne t’en détourne pas.
Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.
6 Ne l’abandonne pas, et elle te gardera; aime-la, et elle te conservera.
Forsake her not, and shee shall keepe thee: loue her and shee shall preserue thee.
7 Voici le commencement de la sagesse: acquiers la sagesse; au prix de tout ce que tu possèdes, acquiers l’intelligence.
Wisedome is the beginning: get wisedome therefore: and aboue all thy possession get vnderstanding.
8 Tiens-la en haute estime, et elle t’exaltera; elle fera ta gloire, si tu l’embrasses.
Exalt her, and she shall exalt thee: she shall bring thee to honour, if thou embrace her.
9 Elle mettra sur ta tête une couronne de grâce, elle t’ornera d’un magnifique diadème. »
She shall giue a comely ornamet vnto thine head, yea, she shall giue thee a crowne of glorie.
10 Écoute, mon fils, et reçois mes paroles, et les années de ta vie se multiplieront.
Heare, my sonne, and receiue my wordes, and the yeeres of thy life shalbe many.
11 Je t’enseigne la voie de la sagesse, je te conduis dans les sentiers de la droiture.
I haue taught thee in ye way of wisedom, and led thee in the pathes of righteousnesse.
12 Si tu marches, tes pas ne seront point à l’étroit, et si tu cours, tu ne trébucheras pas.
Whe thou goest, thy gate shall not be strait, and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.
13 Retiens l’instruction, ne l’abandonne pas; garde-la, car elle est ta vie.
Take holde of instruction, and leaue not: keepe her, for shee is thy life.
14 N’entre pas dans le sentier des méchants, et ne marche pas dans la voie des hommes mauvais.
Enter not into the way of the wicked, and walke not in the way of euill men.
15 Évite-la, n’y passe point, détourne-t’en et passe.
Auoide it, and goe not by it: turne from it, and passe by.
16 Car ils ne dorment pas, s’ils ne font le mal; leur sommeil s’enfuit s’ils ne font tomber personne.
For they can not sleepe, except they haue done euill, and their sleepe departeth except they cause some to fall.
17 Car ils mangent le pain du crime, ils boivent le vin de la violence.
For they eate the breade of wickednesse, and drinke the wine of violence.
18 Le sentier des justes est comme la brillante lumière du matin, dont l’éclat va croissant jusqu’à ce que paraisse le jour.
But the way of the righteous shineth as the light, that shineth more and more vnto the perfite day.
19 La voie des méchants est comme les ténèbres; ils n’aperçoivent pas ce qui les fera tomber.
The way of the wicked is as the darkenes: they knowe not wherein they shall fall.
20 Mon fils, sois attentif à mes paroles, prête l’oreille à mes discours.
My sonne, hearken vnto my wordes, incline thine eare vnto my sayings.
21 Qu’ils ne s’éloignent pas de tes yeux, garde-les au milieu de ton cœur.
Let them not depart from thine eyes, but keepe them in the middes of thine heart.
22 Car ils sont vie pour ceux qui les trouvent, santé pour tout leur corps.
For they are life vnto those that find them, and health vnto all their flesh.
23 Garde ton cœur avant toute chose, car de lui jaillissent les sources de la vie.
Keepe thine heart with all diligence: for thereout commeth life.
24 Écarte de ta bouche les paroles tortueuses, et éloigne de tes lèvres la fausseté.
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and put wicked lippes farre from thee.
25 Que tes yeux regardent en face, et que tes paupières se dirigent devant toi.
Let thine eyes beholde the right, and let thine eyelids direct thy way before thee.
26 Fais à tes pieds un chemin uni, et que toutes tes voies soient droites.
Ponder the path of thy feete, and let all thy waies be ordred aright.
27 N’incline ni à droite ni à gauche, et détourne ton pied du mal.
Turne not to the right hande, nor to the left, but remooue thy foote from euill.
