Proverbes 11
1 La balance fausse est en horreur à Yahweh, mais le poids juste lui est agréable.
False scales are an abomination to the LORD; But a perfect weight is his delight.
2 Si l’orgueil vient, viendra aussi l’ignominie; mais la sagesse est avec les humbles. Fruits de la droiture et de la perversité.
When pride cometh, then cometh disgrace; But with the humble is wisdom.
3 L’innocence des hommes droits les dirige, mais les détours des perfides les ruinent.
The integrity of the upright shall guide them; But the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
4 Au jour de la colère, la richesse ne sert de rien, mais la justice délivre de la mort.
Riches do not profit in the day of wrath; But righteousness delivereth from death.
5 La justice de l’ homme intègre dirige ses voies, mais le méchant tombe par sa méchanceté.
The righteousness of the good man maketh his way plain; But the wicked falleth through his wickedness.
6 La justice des hommes droits les délivre, mais les perfides sont pris par leur propre malice.
The righteousness of the upright delivereth them; But transgressors are ensnared in their own mischief.
7 Quand meurt le méchant, son espoir périt, et l’attente du pervers est anéantie.
When the wicked man dieth, his hope cometh to an end; Yea, the expectation of the unjust cometh to an end.
8 Le juste est délivré de l’angoisse, et le méchant y tombe à sa place. Le juste et l’impie dans la société.
The righteous man is delivered from trouble, And the wicked cometh into it in his stead.
9 Par sa bouche l’impie prépare la ruine de son prochain, mais les justes seront délivrés par la science.
By his mouth the vile man destroyeth his neighbor; But by the knowledge of the righteous are men delivered.
10 Quand les justes sont heureux, la ville se réjouit; quand les méchants périssent, on pousse des cris de joie.
When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; And when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11 Par la bénédiction des hommes droits la ville prospère; elle est renversée par la bouche des impies.
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12 Celui qui méprise son prochain est dépourvu de sens, mais l’homme intelligent se tait.
He who despiseth his neighbor is void of understanding; A man of discernment holdeth his peace.
13 Le médisant dévoile les secrets, mais l’homme au cœur fidèle tient la chose cachée.
He who goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; But he who is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.
14 Quand la direction fait défaut, le peuple tombe; le salut est le grand nombre des conseillers.
Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in a multitude of counsellors there is safety.
15 Qui cautionne un inconnu s’en repent, mais celui qui craint de s’engager est en sécurité.
He that is surety for another shall smart for it; But he that hateth suretyship is sure.
16 La femme qui a de la grâce obtient la gloire, les hommes énergiques acquièrent la richesse. Fruits de la justice et de la méchanceté.
A graceful woman obtaineth honor, Even as strong men obtain riches.
17 L’homme charitable fait du bien à son âme, mais l’homme cruel afflige sa propre chair.
He that doeth good to himself is a man of kindness; But he that tormenteth his own flesh is cruel.
18 Le méchant fait un travail trompeur, mais celui qui sème la justice a une récompense assurée.
The wicked toileth for deceitful wages; But he who soweth righteousness shall have a sure reward.
19 La justice conduit à la vie, mais celui qui poursuit le mal va à la mort.
As righteousness tendeth to life, So he who pursueth evil pursueth it to his death.
20 Les hommes au cœur pervers sont en abomination à Yahweh, mais ceux qui sont intègres en leur voie sont l’objet de ses complaisances.
The perverse in heart are the abomination of the LORD; But the upright in their way are his delight.
21 Non, le méchant ne restera pas impuni, mais la postérité des justes sera sauvée.
From generation to generation the wicked shall not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous shall be delivered.
22 Un anneau d’or au nez d’un pourceau, telle est la femme belle et dépourvue de sens.
As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, So is a beautiful woman who is without discretion.
23 Le désir des justes, c’est uniquement le bien; l’attente des méchants, c’est la fureur.
The desire of the righteous is only good; But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 Celui-ci donne libéralement et s’enrichit; cet autre épargne outre mesure et s’appauvrit.
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; And there is that withholdeth more than is right, yet he cometh to want.
25 L’âme bienfaisante sera rassasiée, et celui qui arrose sera lui-même arrosé.
The bountiful man shall be enriched, And he that watereth shall himself be watered.
26 Celui qui retient le blé est maudit du peuple, mais la bénédiction est sur la tête de celui qui le vend.
Him that keepeth back corn the people curse; But blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
27 Celui qui recherche le bien trouve la faveur, mais celui qui cherche le mal, le mal l’atteindra.
He, who earnestly seeketh good, seeketh favor; But he that seeketh mischief, it shall come upon him.
28 Celui qui se confie dans sa richesse tombera, mais les justes germeront comme le feuillage.
He who trusteth in his riches shall fall; But the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.
29 Celui qui trouble sa maison héritera le vent, et l’insensé sera l’esclave de l’homme sage.
He that harasseth his household shall inherit wind; And the fool shall be the servant of the wise.
30 Le fruit du juste est un arbre de vie, et qui fait la conquête des âmes est sage.
The fruit of a righteous man is a tree of life; And the wise man winneth souls.
31 Si le juste reçoit sur la terre une rétribution de peines, combien plus le méchant et le pécheur!
Behold, the righteous man is requited on the earth; Much more the wicked man and the sinner!
