Malachie 2
1 Maintenant donc, c’est pour vous qu’est ce décret, ô prêtres.
And now, O priests, this commandment is to you.
2 Si vous n’écoutez pas et si vous ne prenez pas à cœur de donner gloire à mon nom, dit Yahweh des armées, j’enverrai contre vous la malédiction, et je maudirai vos bénédictions; – et déjà je les ai maudites, parce que vous n’avez pas pris à cœur! –
If ye will not hearken, and if ye will not lay [it] to heart, to give glory to my name, saith the Lord Almighty, then I will send forth the curse upon you, and I will bring a curse upon your blessing: yea, I will curse it, and I will scatter your blessing, and it shall not exist among you, because ye lay not this to heart.
3 Voici que je ferai manquer vos semences, je répandrai du fumier sur vos visages, le fumier de vos fêtes, et on vous emportera avec lui.
Behold, I turn my back upon you, and I will scatter dung upon your faces, the dung of your feasts, and I will carry you away at the same time.
4 Vous saurez alors que je vous ai adressé ce décret, afin que mon alliance avec Lévi demeure, dit Yahweh des armées.
And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment to you, that my covenant might be with the sons of Levi, saith the Lord Almighty.
5 Mon alliance avec Lévi fut une alliance de vie et de paix, et je lui donnai ces biens; une alliance de crainte, et il me craignit et trembla devant mon nom.
My covenant of life and peace was with him, and I gave [it] him that he might reverently fear me, and that he might be awe-struck at my name.
6 La loi de vérité était dans sa bouche, et il ne se trouvait pas d’iniquité sur ses lèvres; il marchait avec moi dans la paix et la droiture, et il détourna du mal un grand nombre d’hommes.
The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked before me directing [his way] in peace, and he turned many from unrighteousness.
7 Car les lèvres du prêtre gardent la science, et de sa bouche on demande l’enseignement, parce qu’il est l’ange de Yahweh des armées.
For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty.
8 Mais vous, vous vous êtes écartés de la voie; vous en avez fait trébucher un grand nombre dans la loi; vous avez perverti l’alliance de Lévi, dit Yahweh des armées.
But ye have turned aside from the way, and caused many to fail in [following] the law: ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord Almighty.
9 Et moi, à mon tour, je vous ai rendus méprisables et vils pour tout le peuple, parce que vous ne gardez pas mes voies et que vous avez égard aux personnes en appliquant la loi.
And I have made you despised and cast out among all the people, because ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.
10 N’y a-t-il pas un même père pour nous tous? Un même Dieu ne nous a-t-il pas tous créés? Pourquoi sommes-nous infidèles l’un envers l’autre, profanant l’alliance de nos pères?
Have ye not all one father? Did not one God create you? why have ye forsaken every man his brother, to profane the covenant of your fathers?
11 Juda est infidèle, et une abomination est commise en Israël et à Jérusalem; car Juda profane ce qui est consacré à Yahweh, ce que Yahweh aime; il épouse la fille d’un dieu étranger.
Juda has been forsaken, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Juda has profaned the holy things of the Lord, which he delighted in, and has gone after other gods.
12 Pour l’homme qui fait cela, que Yahweh retranche des tentes de Jacob celui qui veille et celui qui répond, et celui qui offre l’oblation à Yahweh des armées!
The Lord will utterly destroy the man that does these things, until he be even cast down from out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and from among them that offer sacrifice to the Lord Almighty.
13 Voici une seconde chose que vous faites: vous couvrez de larmes l’autel de Yahweh, vous le couvrez de pleurs et de gémissements, en sorte que Yahweh n’a plus égard à l’oblation, et qu’il ne reçoit plus de votre main une offrande agréable.
And these things which I hated, ye did: ye covered with tears the altar of the Lord, and with weeping and groaning because of troubles: [is it] meet [for me] to have respect to your sacrifice, or to receive [anything] from your hands [as] welcome?
14 Et vous dites: « Pourquoi? » – Parce que Yahweh a été témoin entre toi et la femme de ta jeunesse, à laquelle tu as été infidèle, elle qui était ta compagne et la femme de ton alliance.
Yet ye said, Wherefore? Because the Lord has borne witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, whom thou has forsaken, and [yet] she was thy partner, and the wife of thy covenant.
15 Aucun n’a fait cela, ayant du reste de l’Esprit divin. – « Et que fit l’Un? » – Il cherchait une postérité divine. Prenez donc garde à votre vie, et que nul ne soit infidèle à la femme de sa jeunesse.
And did he not do well? and [there was] the residue of his spirit. But ye said, What does God seek but a seed? But take ye heed to your spirit, and forsake not the wife of thy youth.
16 Car je hais la répudiation, dit Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël; car c’est couvrir de violence son vêtement, dit Yahweh des armées. Prenez donc garde à votre vie et ne soyez pas infidèles.
But if thou shouldest hate [thy wife] and put her away, saith the Lord God of Israel, then ungodliness shall cover thy thoughts, saith the Lord Almighty: therefore take ye heed to your spirit, and forsake [them] not,
17 Vous avez fatigué Yahweh par vos paroles. Et vous dites: « En quoi l’avons-nous fatigué? » — En disant: « Quiconque fait le mal est bon aux yeux de Yahweh, et en ces gens-là il prend plaisir! » Ou bien: « Où est le Dieu de la justice? »
ye that have provoked God with your words. But ye said, Wherein have we provoked him? In that ye say, Every one that does evil is a pleasing [object] in the sight of the Lord, and he takes pleasure in such; and where is the God of justice?
