Luc 5
1 Or, un jour que pressé par la foule qui voulait entendre la parole de Dieu, il se tenait sur le bord du lac de Génésareth,
On one occasion, Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to listen to the word of God.
2 il vit deux barques qui stationnaient près du rivage; les pêcheurs étaient descendus pour laver leurs filets.
He saw two boats moored beside the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.
3 Il monta donc dans une de ces barques, qui était à Simon, et le pria de s’éloigner un peu de terre; puis, s’étant assis, il enseigna le peuple de dessus la barque.
He got into one of the boats, the one that was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and began teaching the crowds from the boat.
4 Lorsqu’il eut cessé de parler, il dit à Simon: « Avance en pleine mer, et vous jetterez vos filets pour pêcher. »
When he finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 Simon lui répondit: « Maître, toute la nuit nous avons travaillé sans rien prendre; mais, sur votre parole, je jetterai le filet. »
Simon answered him, “Master, we have worked hard throughout the entire night and have caught nothing, but at yoʋr word I will let down the net.”
6 L’ayant jeté, ils prirent une si grande quantité de poissons, que leur filet se rompait.
When he and the men with him did so, they enclosed such a large number of fish that their net began to break.
7 Et ils firent signe à leurs compagnons, qui étaient dans l’autre barque, de venir à leur aide. Ils y vinrent, et ils remplirent les deux barques, au point qu’elles enfonçaient.
So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and assist them, and they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
8 Ce que voyant Simon Pierre tomba aux pieds de Jésus en disant: « Éloignez-vous de moi, Seigneur, parce que je suis un pécheur. »
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus' knees and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
9 Car l’effroi l’avait saisi, lui et tous ceux qui l’accompagnaient, à cause de la capture de poissons qu’ils avaient faite;
For he and all who were with him were gripped with astonishment at the catch of fish they had taken,
10 il en était de même de Jacques et de Jean, fils de Zébédée, les associés de Simon. Et Jésus dit à Simon: « Ne crains point, car désormais ce sont des hommes que tu prendras. »
including James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's business partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on yoʋ will be catching people.”
11 Aussitôt, ramenant leurs barques à terre, ils quittèrent tout et le suivirent.
So they brought their boats to shore, left everything, and followed Jesus.
12 Comme il était dans une ville, voici qu’un homme tout couvert de lèpre, apercevant Jésus, se prosterna la face contre terre, et le pria en disant: « Seigneur, si vous le voulez, vous pouvez me guérir. »
While Jesus was in one of the towns, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if yoʋ are willing, yoʋ can make me clean.”
13 Jésus, étendant la main, le toucha et lui dit: « Je le veux, sois guéri »; et à l’instant sa lèpre disparut.
So Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Et il lui défendit d’en parler à personne; mais: « Va, dit-il, te montrer au prêtre, et offre pour ta guérison ce qu’a prescrit Moïse, pour l’attester au peuple. »
Then Jesus ordered him to tell no one, but said, “Go show yoʋrself to the priest, and make an offering for yoʋr cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
15 Sa renommée se répandait de plus en plus, et l’on venait par troupes nombreuses pour l’entendre et pour être guéri de ses maladies.
But the news about Jesus spread even more, and large crowds would gather together to hear him and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 Pour lui, il se retirait dans les déserts et priait.
But he would often withdraw to desolate places and pray.
17 Un jour qu’il enseignait, il y avait là, assis autour de lui, des Pharisiens et des docteurs de la Loi, venus de tous les villages de la Galilée, ainsi que de la Judée et de Jérusalem, et la puissance du Seigneur se manifestait par des guérisons.
On one of those days, as he was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was present to heal the people.
18 Et voilà que des gens, portant sur un lit un homme paralysé, cherchaient à le faire entrer et à le mettre devant lui.
And behold, some men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed. They were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.
19 Et n’en trouvant pas le moyen à cause de la foule, ils montèrent sur le toit et, à travers les tuiles, descendirent le malade avec sa couchette au milieu de tous, devant Jésus.
But when they could not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down through the tiles, together with his mat, into the middle of the crowd in front of Jesus.
20 Voyant leur foi, il dit: « Homme, tes péchés te sont remis. »
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Man, yoʋr sins are forgiven yoʋ.”
21 Alors les Scribes et les Pharisiens se mirent à raisonner et à dire: « Qui est celui-ci qui profère des blasphèmes? Qui peut remettre les péchés, si ce n’est Dieu seul? »
But the scribes and the Pharisees began to question what Jesus said: “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
22 Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, prit la parole et leur dit: « Quelles pensées avez-vous en vos cœurs?
Aware of their thoughts, Jesus answered them, “Why are you questioning in your hearts?
23 Lequel est le plus facile de dire: Tes péchés te sont remis, ou de dire: Lève-toi et marche?
Which is easier, to say, ‘Yoʋr sins are forgiven yoʋ,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?
24 Or, afin que vous sachiez que le Fils de l’homme a sur la terre le pouvoir de remettre les péchés: Je te le commande, dit-il au paralytique, lève-toi, prends ta couchette et va dans ta maison. »
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralyzed man—“I say to yoʋ, rise, pick up yoʋr mat, and go to yoʋr house.”
25 À l’instant, celui-ci se leva devant eux, prit le lit sur lequel il était couché, et s’en alla dans sa maison en glorifiant Dieu.
Immediately the man rose up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went to his house, glorifying God.
26 Et tous étaient frappés de stupeur; ils glorifiaient Dieu, et, remplis de crainte, ils disaient: « Nous avons vu aujourd’hui des choses merveilleuses. »
Amazement seized them all, and they too began glorifying God. Filled with awe, they said, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”
27 Après cela, Jésus sortit, et ayant vu un publicain nommé Lévi, assis au bureau du péage, il lui dit: « Suis-moi. »
After this Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me,”
28 Et lui, quittant tout, se leva et le suivit.
and leaving everything behind, Levi rose and followed him.
29 Lévi lui donna un grand festin dans sa maison; et une foule nombreuse de publicains et d’autres personnes étaient à table avec eux.
Then Levi gave a great banquet for Jesus in his house, and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others reclining at the table with them.
30 Les Pharisiens et leurs Scribes murmuraient et disaient à ses disciples: « Pourquoi mangez-vous et buvez-vous avec les publicains et les pécheurs? »
But the scribes of the people and the Pharisees were grumbling at his disciples, saying, “Why are you eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?”
31 Jésus leur répondit: « Ce ne sont pas les bien portants qui ont besoin de médecin, mais les malades.
Jesus answered them, “It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.
32 Je ne suis pas venu appeler les justes à la pénitence, mais les pécheurs. »
I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
33 Alors ils lui dirent: « Pourquoi, tandis que les disciples de Jean et ceux des Pharisiens jeûnent et prient souvent, les vôtres mangent-ils et boivent-ils? »
Then they said to him, “Why is it that the disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but yoʋrs eat and drink?”
34 Il leur répondit: « Pouvez-vous faire jeûner les amis de l’Époux, pendant que l’Époux est avec eux?
Jesus said to them, “Can you make the bridegroom's attendants fast while the bridegroom is with them?
35 Viendront des jours où l’Époux leur sera enlevé: ils jeûneront ces jours-là. »
But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, they will fast in those days.”
36 Il leur proposa encore cette comparaison: « Personne ne met à un vieux vêtement un morceau pris à un vêtement neuf: autrement on déchire le neuf, et le morceau du neuf convient mal au vêtement vieux.
He also told them a parable: “No one puts a patch from a new garment on an old garment. For not only would he tear the new garment, but the patch from the new garment would not match the old garment.
37 Personne non plus ne met du vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres: autrement, le vin nouveau rompant les outres, il se répandra, et les outres seront perdues.
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins and would itself be spilled, and the wineskins would be ruined.
38 Mais il faut mettre le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves, et tous les deux se conservent.
But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and then both are preserved.
39 Et personne après avoir bu du vieux vin, ne veut aussitôt du nouveau; car on dit: Le vieux vin est meilleur. »
And no one after drinking old wine immediately desires new wine, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
