Luc 17
1 Jésus dit encore à ses disciples: « Il est impossible qu’il n’arrive pas des scandales; mais malheur à celui par qui ils arrivent!
And He spoke to His disciples, It is impossible for offenses not to come: but woe unto him, through whom they come;
2 Il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu’on lui mit au cou une meule de moulin, et qu’on le jetât dans la mer, que de scandaliser un seul de ces petits.
it is good for him if a millstone is hung around his neck, and he is cast into the sea, rather than that he may offend one of these little ones.
3 Prenez garde à vous-mêmes. Si ton frère a péché contre toi reprends-le, et s’il se repent, pardonne-lui.
Take heed to yourselves. If thy brother may sin, rebuke him; if he may repent, forgive him.
4 Et quand il pécherait contre toi sept fois le jour, s’il revient sept fois [le jour] te dire: Je me repens, tu lui pardonneras. »
But if he may sin against thee seven times a day, and seven times turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5 Les apôtres dirent au Seigneur: « Augmentez notre foi. »
And the apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 Le Seigneur répondit: « Si vous aviez de la foi comme un grain de sénevé, vous diriez à ce mûrier: Déracine-toi, et te transplante dans la mer; et il vous obéirait.
And the Lord said, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed. you should say to this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up, and planted in the sea; and it would obey you.
7 Qui de vous, ayant un serviteur au labourage ou à la garde des troupeaux, lui dira, à son retour des champs: Viens vite, et mets-toi à table?
But which one of you, having a servant plowing or serving a shepherd, who will say to him, having come in from the field, Coming hither sit down immediately?
8 Ne lui dira-t-il pas, au contraire: Prépare-moi à souper, ceins-toi, et me sers, jusqu’à ce que j’aie mangé et bu; après cela, toi, tu mangeras et boiras?
But will he not say to him, Prepare what I may sup, and girding thyself, minister unto me, until I may eat and drink; and after these things you eat and drink?
9 A-t-il de la reconnaissance à ce serviteur, parce qu’il a fait ce qui lui était ordonné?
Whether does he thank the servant because he did the things which were commanded?
10 Je ne le pense pas. De même vous, quand vous aurez fait ce qui vous était commandé, dites: Nous sommes des serviteurs inutiles; nous avons fait ce que nous devions faire. »
Likewise also, when you may do those things which are commanded you, say that, We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do.
11 En se rendant à Jérusalem, Jésus côtoyait la frontière de la Samarie et de la Galilée.
And it came to pass, while He was journeying to Jerusalem, and He was going through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12 Comme il entrait dans un village, dix lépreux vinrent à sa rencontre, et se tenant à distance,
He coming into a certain village, ten lepers met Him, who stood afar off;
13 ils élevèrent la voix en disant: « Jésus, Maître, ayez pitié de nous. »
and lifting up their voice, saying, Thou, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 Dès qu’il les eut aperçus: « Allez, leur dit-il, montrez-vous aux prêtres. « Et en y allant, ils furent guéris.
And seeing, He said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priest. And it came to pass while they were going, they were cleansed:
15 L’un d’eux, lorsqu’il se vit guéri, revint sur ses pas, glorifiant Dieu à haute voix,
and one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned, with a loud voice glorifying God,
16 et tombant le visage contre terre aux pieds de Jésus, il lui rendit grâces. Or c’était un Samaritain.
and he fell upon his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him: and he was a Samaritan.
17 Prenant alors la parole, Jésus dit: « Est-ce que les dix n’ont pas été guéris? Et les neuf, où sont-ils?
And Jesus responding said, Were not the ten cleansed?
18 Il ne s’est trouvé parmi eux que cet étranger pour revenir et rendre gloire à Dieu?
Where are the nine? And they were not found returning to give thanks to God, except this one foreigner.
19 Et il lui dit: Lève-toi, va; ta foi t’a sauvé. »
And He said to him, having arisen, go: thy faith hath saved thee.
20 Les Pharisiens lui ayant demandé quand viendrait le royaume de Dieu, il leur répondit: « Le royaume de Dieu ne vient pas de manière à frapper les regards.
Then being interrogated by the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God is coming, He responded to them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation:
21 On ne dira point: Il est ici, ou: Il est là; car voyez, le royaume de Dieu est au milieu de vous. »
neither will they say; Lo, here! or, there! for behold, the kingdom of God is among you.
22 Il dit encore à ses disciples: « Viendra un temps où vous désirerez voir un seul des jours du Fils de l’homme, et vous ne le verrez point.
And He said to the disciples, The days will come, when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and will not see it.
23 On vous dira: Il est ici, et: Il est là; gardez-vous d’y aller et de courir après.
And they will say to you, Lo, here! lo, there! go not away, nor follow them.
24 Car, comme la lueur de l’éclair brille d’un bout du ciel à l’autre, ainsi en sera-t-il du Fils de l’homme en son jour.
For as the lightning, flashing out of the one part under the heaven, gleams into the other part under heaven, so shall be the Son of man in His day.
25 Mais il faut auparavant qu’il souffre beaucoup, et qu’il soit rejeté par cette génération.
But it behooves Him first to suffer many things and to be set at nought by this generation.
26 Et comme il arriva aux jours de Noé, ainsi arrivera-t-il aux jours du Fils de l’homme.
And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of man.
27 Les hommes mangeaient et buvaient, ils se mariaient et mariaient leur filles, jusqu’au jour où Noé entra dans l’arche; et le déluge vint qui les fit périr tous.
They were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were getting married, until the day on which Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 Et comme il arriva aux jours de Loth: les hommes mangeaient et buvaient, ils achetaient et vendaient, ils plantaient et bâtissaient;
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;
29 mais le jour où Loth sortit de Sodome, une pluie de feu et de soufre tomba du ciel, et les fit périr tous:
and on the day on which Lot went out from Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 ainsi en sera-t-il au jour où le Fils de l’homme paraîtra.
According to these things it will be in the day the Son of man is revealed.
31 En ce jour, que celui qui sera sur le toit, et dont les effets seront dans la maison, ne descende point pour les prendre; et que celui qui sera aux champs ne revienne pas non plus en arrière.
In that day, let not him who is on the house, and his goods in the house, come down to take them: and likewise let not him who is in the field turn back.
32 Souvenez-vous de la femme de Loth.
Remember Lot's wife.
33 Quiconque cherchera à sauver sa vie, la perdra, et quiconque l’aura perdu, la régénérera.
Whosoever may seek to save his soul shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose it shall find it.
34 Je vous le dis: en cette nuit-là, de deux personnes qui seront dans le même lit, l’une sera prise et l’autre laissée;
I say unto you, on that night two men shall be on one bed; the one shall be taken and the other left.
35 de deux femmes qui moudront ensemble, l’une sera prise et l’autre laissée; [de deux hommes qui seront dans un champ, l’un sera pris et l’autre laissé]. »
Two women shall be grinding at the same mill; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
36 Ils lui dirent: « Où sera-ce, Seigneur? »
37 Il répondit: « Où sera le corps, là s’assembleront les aigles. »
Responding they say to Him, Where, Lord? And He said to them, Where the body is, there the eagles will also be gathered together.
