Lévitique 25
1 Yahweh parla à Moïse sur la montagne de Sinaï, en disant:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,
2 « Parle aux enfants d’Israël, et dis-leur: Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays que je vous donne, la terre se reposera: ce sera un sabbat en l’honneur de Yahweh.
Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them, When ye shall come into the lande which I giue you, the lande shall keepe Sabbath vnto the Lord.
3 Pendant six ans tu ensemenceras ton champ, pendant six ans tu tailleras ta vigne, et tu en recueilleras le produit.
Sixe yeeres thou shalt sowe thy field, and sixe yeeres thou shalt cut thy vineyarde, and gather the fruite thereof.
4 Mais la septième année sera un sabbat, un solennel repos pour la terre, un sabbat en l’honneur de Yahweh: tu n’ensemenceras point ton champ et tu ne tailleras point ta vigne.
But the seuenth yeere shalbe a Sabbath of rest vnto the lande: it shall be the Lordes Sabbath: thou shalt neither sowe thy fielde, nor cut thy vineyarde.
5 Tu ne moissonneras pas ce qui poussera de soi-même, des grains tombés de ta dernière moisson, et tu ne recueilleras point les raisins de ta vigne non taillée: ce sera une année de repos pour la terre.
That which groweth of it owne accorde of thy haruest, thou shalt not reape, neither gather the grapes that thou hast left vnlaboured: for it shalbe a yeere of rest vnto the land.
6 Ce que produira la terre pendant son sabbat vous servira de nourriture, à toi, à ton serviteur et à ta servante, à ton mercenaire et à l’étranger qui demeurent avec toi;
And the rest of the lande shall be meate for you, euen for thee, and for thy seruant, and for thy mayde, and for thy hired seruant, and for the stranger that soiourneth with thee:
7 à ton bétail aussi et aux animaux qui sont dans ton pays, tout son produit servira de nourriture.
And for thy cattell, and for the beastes that are in thy lande shall all the encrease thereof be meate.
8 Tu compteras sept sabbats d’années, sept fois sept ans; la durée de ces sept sabbats d’années te fera une période de quarante-neuf ans.
Also thou shalt number seuen Sabbaths of yeeres vnto thee, euen seuen times seuen yeere: and the space of the seuen Sabbaths of yeeres will be vnto thee nine and fourtie yeere.
9 Le dixième jour du septième mois, tu feras retentir le son éclatant de la trompette; le jour des Expiations, vous ferez passer la trompette dans tout votre pays.
Then thou shalt cause to blow the trumpet of the Iubile in the tenth day of the seuenth moneth: euen in the day of the reconciliation shall ye make the trumpet blowe, throughout all your lande.
10 Et vous sanctifierez la cinquantième année, et vous publierez la liberté dans le pays pour tous ses habitants. Ce sera pour vous un jubilé, et chacun de vous retournera dans sa propriété et chacun de vous retournera dans sa famille.
And ye shall halowe that yeere, euen the fiftieth yeere, and proclaime libertie in the lande to all the inhabitants thereof: it shalbe the Iubile vnto you, and ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession, and euery man shall returne vnto his familie.
11 La cinquantième année sera pour vous un jubilé; vous ne sèmerez point, vous ne moissonnerez point ce que la terre produira d’elle-même, et vous ne vendangerez point la vigne non taillée.
This fiftieth yeere shalbe a yeere of Iubile vnto you: ye shall not sowe, neither reape that which groweth of it selfe, neither gather the grapes thereof, that are left vnlaboured.
12 Car c’est un jubilé; il sera sacré pour vous. Vous mangerez le produit tiré de vos champs.
For it is the Iubile, it shall be holy vnto you: ye shall eate of the encrease thereof out of the fielde.
13 Dans cette année de jubilé, chacun de vous retournera dans sa propriété.
In the yeere of this Iubile, ye shall returne euery man vnto his possession.
14 Si vous faites une vente à votre prochain, ou si vous achetez de votre prochain, qu’aucun de vous ne porte préjudice à son frère.
And when thou sellest ought to thy neighbour, or byest at thy neighbours hande, ye shall not oppresse one another:
15 Tu achèteras à ton prochain d’après le nombre des années écoulées depuis le dernier jubilé, et il te vendra d’après le nombre des années de récolte.
But according to the nomber of yeeres after the Iubile thou shalt bye of thy neighbour: also according to the nomber of the yeeres of the reuenues, he shall sell vnto thee.
16 Plus il restera d’années, plus tu élèveras le prix, et moins il y aura d’années, plus tu abaisseras le prix; car c’est le nombre des récoltes qu’il te vend.
According to the multitude of yeeres, thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewnesse of yeeres, thou shalt abate the price of it: for the nomber of fruites doeth he sell vnto thee.
17 Qu’aucun de vous ne porte préjudice à son frère; crains ton Dieu, car je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu.
Oppresse not ye therefore any man his neighbour, but thou shalt feare thy God: for I am the Lord your God.
18 Vous mettrez mes lois en pratique, vous observerez mes ordonnances et les mettrez en pratique, et vous habiterez en sécurité dans le pays.
Wherefore ye shall obey mine ordinances, and keepe my lawes, and do them, and ye shall dwell in the land in safetie.
19 La terre donnera ses fruits, vous mangerez à satiété et vous y habiterez en sécurité.
And the lande shall giue her fruite, and ye shall eate your fill, and dwell therein in safetie.
20 Si vous dites: Que mangerons-nous la septième année, puisque nous ne sèmerons point et ne recueillerons point nos produits?
And if ye shall say, What shall we eate the seuenth yeere, for we shall not sowe, nor gather in our increase?
21 Je vous enverrai ma bénédiction la sixième année, et elle produira des fruits pour trois ans.
I will sende my blessing vpon you in the sixt yeere, and it shall bring foorth fruite for three yeeres.
22 Vous sèmerez la huitième année, et vous mangerez de l’ancienne récolte; jusqu’à la neuvième année, jusqu’à ce que vienne sa récolte, vous mangerez l’ancienne.
And ye shall sowe the eight yeere, and eate of the olde fruite vntill the ninth yeere: vntill the fruite thereof come, ye shall eate the olde.
23 Les terres ne se vendront point à perpétuité, car le pays est à moi, et vous êtes chez moi comme des étrangers et des gens en séjour.
Also the lande shall not be solde to be cut off from the familie: for the land is mine, and ye be but strangers and soiourners with me.
24 Dans tout le pays que vous posséderez, vous accorderez un droit de rachat pour les terres.
Therefore in all the land of your possession ye shall graunt a redemption for the lande.
25 Si ton frère est devenu pauvre et vend une portion de sa propriété, son représentant, son parent le plus proche viendra et rachètera ce qu’a vendu son frère.
If thy brother be impouerished, and sell his possession, then his redeemer shall come, euen his neere kinsman, and bye out that which his brother solde.
26 Si un homme n’a personne qui le représente, et que lui-même se procure de quoi faire le rachat,
And if he haue no redeemer, but hath gotten and founde to bye it out,
27 il comptera les années écoulées depuis la vente, rendra le surplus à l’acquéreur, et retournera dans sa propriété.
Then shall he count the yeeres of his sale, and restore the ouerplus to the man, to whome he solde it: so shall he returne to his possession.
28 S’il ne trouve pas de quoi lui faire cette restitution, le bien vendu restera entre les mains de l’acquéreur jusqu’à l’année du jubilé; au jubilé, il sera libéré, et le vendeur rentrera dans sa propriété.
But if he can not get sufficient to restore to him, then that which is solde, shall remaine in the hande of him that hath bought it, vntill the yere of the Iubile: and in the Iubile it shall come out, and he shall returne vnto his possession.
29 Si un homme vend une maison d’habitation dans une ville entourée de murs, il aura le droit de rachat jusqu’au terme de l’année de la vente; son droit de rachat durera une année pleine.
Likewise if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled citie, he may bye it out againe within a whole yeere after it is solde: within a yeere may he bye it out.
30 Que si la maison qui est située dans une ville murée n’est pas rachetée avant l’expiration d’une année complète, elle appartiendra à perpétuité à l’acquéreur et à ses descendants; elle ne sortira pas de leur possession au jubilé.
But if it be not bought out within ye space of a ful yeere, then the house that is in the walled citie, shalbe stablished, as cut off from the familie, to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not goe out in the Iubile.
31 Mais les maisons des villages non entourés de murs seront considérées comme allant avec le fonds de terre; on pourra les racheter, et elles seront libérées au jubilé.
But the houses of villages, which haue no walles round about them, shalbe esteemed as the fielde of the countrey: they may be bought out againe, and shall goe out in the Iubile.
32 Quant aux villes des Lévites et aux maisons des villes qu’ils posséderont, les Lévites auront un droit perpétuel de rachat.
Notwithstanding, the cities of the Leuites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Leuites redeeme at all seasons.
33 Si quelqu’un achète des Lévites une maison, la maison vendue dans la ville qui leur a été donnée sera libérée au jubilé, car les maisons des villes des Lévites sont leur propriété au milieu des enfants d’Israël.
And if a man purchase of the Leuites, the house that was solde, and the citie of their possession shall goe out in the Iubile: for the houses of the cities of the Leuites are their possession among the children of Israel.
34 Les champs de la banlieue des villes des Lévites ne seront point vendus, car c’est leur possession à perpétuité.
But the fielde of the suburbes of their cities, shall not be solde: for it is their perpetuall possession.
35 Si ton frère devient pauvre et que sa main s’affaiblisse près de toi, tu le soutiendras, fût-il étranger ou hôte, afin qu’il vive auprès de toi.
Moreouer, if thy brother be impouerished, and fallen in decay with thee, thou shalt relieue him, and as a stranger and soiourner, so shall he liue with thee.
36 Ne tire de lui ni intérêt ni profit, mais crains ton Dieu et que ton frère vive avec toi.
Thou shalt take no vsurie of him, nor vantage, but thou shalt feare thy God, that thy brother may liue with thee.
37 Tu ne lui prêteras point ton argent à intérêt, et tu ne lui donneras point de tes vivres pour en tirer profit.
Thou shalt not giue him thy money to vsurie, nor lende him thy vitailes for increase.
38 Je suis Yahweh, ton Dieu, qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte, pour vous donner le pays de Chanaan, pour être votre Dieu.
I am the Lord your God, which haue brought you out of the lande of Egypt, to giue you the lande of Canaan, and to be your God.
39 Si ton frère devient pauvre près de toi et qu’il se vende à toi, tu n’exigeras pas de lui le travail d’un esclave.
If thy brother also that dwelleth by thee, be impouerished, and be sold vnto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serue as a bond seruant,
40 Il sera chez toi comme un mercenaire, comme un hôte; il te servira jusqu’à l’année du jubilé.
But as an hired seruant, and as a soiourner he shalbe with thee: he shall serue thee vnto the yeere of the Iubile.
41 Il sortira alors de chez toi, lui et ses enfants avec lui, et il retournera dans sa famille, et rentrera dans la propriété de ses pères.
Then shall he depart from thee, both hee, and his children with him, and shall returne vnto his familie, and vnto the possession of his fathers shall he returne:
42 Car ils sont mes serviteurs, que j’ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte: ils ne seront point vendus comme on vend des esclaves.
For they are my seruants, whom I brought out of the lande of Egypt: they shall not be solde as bondmen are solde.
43 Tu ne domineras point sur lui avec dureté, mais tu craindras ton Dieu.
Thou shalt not rule ouer him cruelly, but shalt feare thy God.
44 Tes esclaves et tes servantes qui t’appartiendront, tu les prendras des nations qui t’entourent; c’est d’elles que vous achèterez serviteurs et servantes.
Thy bond seruant also, and thy bond maid, which thou shalt haue, shalbe of the heathen that are rounde about you: of them shall ye bye seruants and maydes.
45 Vous pourrez aussi en acheter parmi les enfants des étrangers qui séjournent chez vous, et parmi leurs familles qui vivent avec vous, qu’ils auront engendrés dans votre pays; et ils seront votre propriété.
And moreouer of the children of the stragers, that are soiourners among you, of them shall ye bye, and of their families that are with you, which they begate in your lande: these shall be your possession.
46 Vous les laisserez en héritage à vos enfants après vous, pour les posséder comme une propriété; ils seront perpétuellement vos esclaves. Mais à l’égard de vos frères, les enfants d’Israël, nul d’entre vous ne dominera sur son frère avec dureté.
So ye shall take them as inheritance for your children after you, to possesse them by inheritance, ye shall vse their labours for euer: but ouer your brethren the children of Israel ye shall not rule one ouer another with crueltie.
47 Si un étranger ou un hôte s’est enrichi près de toi, et que ton frère, devenu pauvre près de lui, se soit vendu à l’étranger, à l’hôte qui est près de toi ou au rejeton d’une famille étrangère,
If a soiourner or a stranger dwelling by thee get riches, and thy brother by him be impouerished, and sell him selfe vnto the stranger or soiourner dwelling by thee, or to the stocke of the strangers familie,
48 il y aura pour lui, après qu’il se sera vendu, le droit de rachat; un de ses frères pourra le racheter;
After that he is solde, he may be bought out: one of his brethren may bye him out,
49 ou son oncle, ou le fils de son oncle pourra le racheter; ou l’un de ses proches parents pourra le racheter; ou bien, s’il acquiert des richesses, il se rachètera lui-même.
Or his vncle, or his vncles sonne may bye him out, or any of the kindred of his flesh among his familie, may redeeme him: either if he can get so much, he may bye him selfe out.
50 Il comptera, avec celui qui l’a acheté, depuis l’année où il s’est vendu à lui jusqu’à l’année du jubilé, et le prix de vente se comptera d’après le nombre des années, en évaluant les journées de son travail comme celles d’un mercenaire.
Then he shall recken with his byer from the yeere that he was solde to him, vnto the yere of Iubile: and the money of his sale shalbe according to the number of yeeres: according to the time of an hyred seruant shall he be with him.
51 S’il y a encore beaucoup d’années, il paiera son rachat à raison du nombre de ces années, en tenant compte du prix auquel il avait été acheté;
If there be many yeeres behind, according to them he shall giue againe for his deliuerance, of the money that he was bought for.
52 s’il reste peu d’années jusqu’à celle du jubilé, il en fera le compte, et il paiera son rachat à raison de ces années.
If there remaine but fewe yeeres vnto the yeere of Iubile, then he shall count with him, and according to his yeeres giue againe for his redemption.
53 Il sera chez lui comme un mercenaire de l’année, et son maître ne le traitera point avec dureté sous tes yeux.
He shalbe with him yeere by yeere as an hired seruant: he shall not rule cruelly ouer him in thy sight.
54 S’il n’est racheté d’aucune de ces manières, il sortira libre l’année du jubilé, lui et ses enfants avec lui.
And if he be not redeemed thus, he shall go out in the yeere of Iubile, he, and his children with him.
55 Car c’est de moi que les enfants d’Israël sont serviteurs; ils sont mes serviteurs, que j’ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte. Je suis Yahweh, votre Dieu. »
For vnto me the children of Israel are seruants: they are my seruants, who I haue brought out of the land of Egypt: I am ye Lord your God.
