Jean 9
1 Jésus vit, en passant, un aveugle de naissance.
And Jhesus passynge, seiy a man blynd fro the birthe.
2 « Maître, lui demandèrent ses disciples, est-ce que cet homme a péché, ou ses parents, pour qu’il soit né aveugle? »
And hise disciplis axiden hym, Maistir, what synnede this man, or hise eldris, that he schulde be borun blynd?
3 Jésus répondit: « Ni lui, ni ses parents n’ont péché, mais c’est afin que les œuvres de Dieu soient manifestées en lui.
Jhesus answeride, Nether this man synnede, nether hise eldris; but that the werkis of God be schewid in hym.
4 Il faut, tandis qu’il est jour, que je fasse les œuvres de celui qui m’a envoyé; la nuit vient, où personne ne peut travailler.
It bihoueth me to worche the werkis of hym that sente me, as longe as the dai is; the nyyt schal come, whanne no man may worche.
5 Pendant que je suis dans le monde, je suis la lumière du monde. » —
As longe as Y am in the world, Y am the liyt of the world.
6 Ayant ainsi parlé, il cracha à terre, fit de la boue avec sa salive, puis il l’étendit sur les yeux de l’aveugle,
Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he spette in to the erthe, and made cley of the spotil, and anoyntide the cley on hise iyen,
7 et lui dit: « Va, lave-toi dans la piscine de Siloé (mot qui se traduit: Envoyé). » Il partit, se lava, et s’en retourna voyant clair.
and seide to hym, Go, and be thou waisschun in the watir of Siloe, that is to seie, Sent. Thanne he wente, and waisschide, and cam seynge.
8 Les voisins, et ceux qui l’avaient vu auparavant demander l’aumône, disaient: « N’est-ce pas là celui qui était assis et mendiait? »
And so neiyboris, and thei that hadden seyn him bifor, for he was a beggere, seiden, Whether this is not he, that sat, and beggide?
9 Les uns répondaient: « C’est lui »; d’autres: « Non, mais il lui ressemble. » Mais lui disait: « C’est moi. »
Othere men seiden, That this it is; othere men seyden, Nai, but he is lijc hym.
10 Ils lui dirent donc: « Comment tes yeux ont-ils été ouverts? »
But he seide, That Y am. Therfor thei seiden to hym, Hou ben thin iyen openyd?
11 Il répondit: « Un homme, celui qu’on appelle Jésus, a fait de la boue, il l’a étendue sur mes yeux, et m’a dit: Va à la piscine de Siloé et lave-toi. J’y ai été, et, m’étant lavé, j’ai recouvré la vue. —
He answerde, Thilke man, that is seid Jhesus, made clei, and anoyntide myn iyen, and seide to me, Go thou to the watre of Siloe, and wassche; and Y wente, and wasschide, and say.
12 Où est cet homme? « lui dirent-ils. Il répondit: « Je ne sais pas. »
And thei seiden to hym, Where is he? He seide, Y woot not.
13 Ils menèrent aux Pharisiens celui qui avait été aveugle.
Thei leden hym that was blynd to the Farisees.
14 Or, c’était un jour de sabbat que Jésus avait ainsi fait de la boue et ouvert les yeux de l’aveugle.
And it was sabat, whanne Jhesus made cley, and openyde hise iyen.
15 À leur tour, les Pharisiens lui demandèrent comment il avait recouvré la vue, et il leur dit: « Il m’a mis sur les yeux de la boue, je me suis lavé, et je vois. »
Eft the Farisees axiden hym, hou he hadde seyn. And he seide to hem, He leide to me cley on the iyen; and Y wasschide, and Y se.
16 Sur cela, quelques-uns des Pharisiens disaient: « Cet homme n’est pas envoyé de Dieu, puisqu’il n’observe pas le sabbat. » D’autres disaient: « Comment un pécheur peut-il faire de tels prodiges? » Et la division était entre eux.
Therfor summe of the Fariseis seiden, This man is not of God, that kepith not the sabat. Othere men seiden, Hou may a synful man do these signes. And strijf was among hem.
17 Ils dirent donc de nouveau à l’aveugle: « Et toi, que dis-tu de lui, de ce qu’il t’a ouvert les yeux? » Il répondit: « C’est un prophète. »
Therfor thei seien eftsoone to the blynd man, What seist thou of hym, that openyde thin iyen? And he seide, That he is a prophete.
18 Les Juifs ne voulurent donc pas croire que cet homme eut été aveugle et qu’il eût recouvré la vue, jusqu’à ce qu’ils eussent fait venir les parents de celui qui avait recouvré la vue.
Therfor Jewis bileueden not of hym, that he was blynd, and hadde seyn, til thei clepiden his fadir and modir, that hadde seyn.
19 Ils leur demandèrent: « Est-ce là votre fils, que vous dites être né aveugle? Comment donc voit-il maintenant? »
And thei axiden hem, and seiden, Is this youre sone, which ye seien was borun blynd? hou thanne seeth he now?
20 Ses parents répondirent: « Nous savons que c’est bien là notre fils, et qu’il est né aveugle;
His fadir and modir answeriden to hem, and seiden, We witen, that this is oure sone, and that he was borun blynd;
21 mais comment il voit maintenant, nous l’ignorons, et qui lui a ouvert les yeux, nous ne le savons pas. Interrogez-le lui-même; il a de l’âge, lui-même parlera de ce qui le concerne. »
but hou he seeth now, we witen neuer, or who openyde hise iyen, we witen nere; axe ye hym, he hath age, speke he of hym silf.
22 Ses parents parlèrent ainsi, parce qu’ils craignaient les Juifs. Car déjà les Juifs étaient convenus que quiconque reconnaîtrait Jésus pour le Christ serait exclu de la synagogue.
His fader and modir seiden these thingis, for thei dredden the Jewis; for thanne the Jewis hadden conspirid, that if ony man knoulechide hym Crist, he schulde be don out of the synagoge.
23 C’est pourquoi ses parents dirent: « Il a de l’âge, interrogez-le. »
Therfor his fadir and modir seiden, That he hath age, axe ye hym.
24 Les Pharisiens firent venir une seconde fois l’homme qui avait été aveugle, et lui dirent: « Rends gloire à Dieu. Nous savons que cet homme est un pécheur. »
Therfor eftsoone thei clepiden the man, that was blynd, and seiden to hym, Yyue thou glorie to God; we witen, that this man is a synnere.
25 Celui-ci répondit: « S’il est un pécheur, je l’ignore; je sais seulement que j’étais aveugle, et qu’à présent je vois. »
Thanne he seide, If he is a synnere, Y woot neuer; o thing Y woot, that whanne Y was blynd, now Y se.
26 Ils lui dirent: « Qu’est-ce qu’il t’a fait? Comment t’a-t-il ouvert les yeux? »
Therfor thei seiden to hym, What dide he to thee? hou openyde he thin iyen?
27 Il leur répondit: « Je vous l’ai déjà dit et vous ne l’avez pas écouté: pourquoi voulez-vous l’entendre encore? Est-ce que, vous aussi, vous voulez devenir ses disciples? »
He answerde to hem, Y seide to you now, and ye herden; what wolen ye eftsoone here? whether ye wolen be maad hise discyplis?
28 Ils le chargèrent alors d’injures, et dirent: « C’est toi qui es son disciple; pour nous, nous sommes disciples de Moïse.
Therfor thei cursiden hym, and seiden, Be thou his disciple; we ben disciplis of Moises.
29 Nous savons que Dieu a parlé à Moïse; mais celui-ci, nous ne savons d’où il est. »
We witen, that God spak to Moises; but we knowen not this, of whennus he is.
30 Cet homme leur répondit: « Il est étonnant que vous ne sachiez pas d’où il est, et cependant il m’a ouvert les yeux.
Thilke man answeride, and seide to hem, For in this is a wondurful thing, that ye witen not, of whennus he is, and he hath openyd myn iyen.
31 Nous savons que Dieu n’exauce point les pécheurs; mais si quelqu’un l’honore et fait sa volonté, c’est celui-là qu’il exauce.
And we witen, that God herith not synful men, but if ony `man is worschypere of God, and doith his wille, he herith hym.
Fro the world it is not herd, that ony man openyde the iyen of a blynd borun man; but this were of God, (aiōn g165)
33 Si cet homme n’était pas de Dieu, il ne pourrait rien faire. »
he myyt not do ony thing.
34 Ils lui répondirent: « Tu es né tout entier dans le péché, et tu nous fais la leçon? » Et ils le chassèrent.
Thei answeriden, and seiden to hym, Thou art al borun in synnes, and techist thou vs? And thei putten hym out.
35 Jésus apprit qu’ils l’avaient ainsi chassé, et l’ayant rencontré, il lui dit: « Crois-tu au Fils de l’homme? »
Jhesus herd, that thei hadden putte hym out; and whanne he hadde founde hym, he seide to hym, Bileuest thou in the sone of God?
36 Il répondit: « Qui est-il, Seigneur, afin que je croie en lui? »
He answerde, and seide, Lord, who is he, that Y bileue in hym?
37 Jésus lui dit: « Tu l’as vu; et celui qui te parle, c’est lui-même. » —
And Jhesus seide to hym, And thou hast seyn him, and he it is, that spekith with thee.
38 « Je crois, Seigneur » dit-il; et se jetant à ses pieds, il l’adora.
And he seide, Lord, Y byleue. And he felle doun, and worschipide hym.
39 Alors Jésus dit: « Je suis venu dans ce monde pour un jugement, afin que ceux qui ne voient pas voient, et que ceux qui voient deviennent aveugles. »
Therfore Jhesus seide to hym, Y cam in to this world, `in to doom, that thei that seen not, see, and thei that seen, be maad blynde.
40 Quelques Pharisiens qui étaient avec lui, lui dirent: « Sommes-nous, nous aussi des aveugles? »
And summe of the Faryseis herden, that weren with hym, and thei seiden to hym, Whether we ben blynde?
41 Jésus leur répondit: « Si vous étiez des aveugles, vous n’auriez point de péché; mais maintenant vous dites: Nous voyons; votre péché demeure. »
Jhesus seide to hem, If ye weren blynde, ye schulden not haue synne; but now ye seien, That we seen, youre synne dwellith stille.
