Isaïe 54
1 Pousse des cris de joie, stérile, qui n'enfantais pas; éclate de joie et d'allégresse, toi qui n'as pas été en travail, car les fils de la délaissée sont plus nombreux que les fils de celle qui avait un époux, dit Yahweh.
Sing, O thou barren, that didst not hear! Break forth into singing, and shout for joy, thou that wast not in travail! For more are the children of the desolate Than of the married woman, saith Jehovah.
2 Elargis l'espace de la tente; qu'on déploie les tentures de ta demeure; ne les retiens pas, allonge tes cordages, et affermis tes pieux!
Enlarge the place of thy tent, And let the canopy of thy habitation be extended! Spare not; lengthen thy cords, And make fast thy stakes!
3 Car tu te répandras à droite et à gauche, et ta postérité prendra possession des nations, et peuplera les villes désertes.
For on the right hand and on the left shalt thou burst forth with increase; And thy posterity shall inherit the nations, And people the desolate cities.
4 Ne crains point, car tu ne seras pas confondue; n'aie point honte, car tu n'auras pas à rougir; car tu oublieras la honte de ta jeunesse, et tu ne te souviendras plus de l'opprobre de ton veuvage.
Fear not, for thou shalt not be confounded; Blush not, for thou shalt not be put to shame. For thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, And the reproach of thy widowhood thou shalt remember no more.
5 Car ton époux, c'est ton Créateur; Yahweh des armées est son nom; et ton Rédempteur est le Saint d'Israël; il s'appelle le Dieu de toute la terre.
For thy husband is thy Maker; Jehovah of hosts is his name. Thy redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
6 Car comme une femme délaissée et affligée, Yahweh te rappelle comme une épouse de la jeunesse qui a été répudiée, dit ton Dieu.
For as a woman forsaken, and deeply afflicted, hath Jehovah recalled thee, And as a wife wedded in youth, that hath been rejected, saith thy God.
7 Un instant, un moment, je t'ai abandonnée, mais avec une grande miséricorde je te rassemble.
For a little moment I have forsaken thee, But with great mercy will I gather thee.
8 Dans une effusion de ma colère, je t'ai caché un moment mon visage, mais avec un amour éternel j'ai compassion de toi, dit ton Rédempteur, Yahweh.
In overflowing wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment. But with everlasting kindness will I have mercy upon thee, Saith thy redeemer, Jehovah.
9 Il en sera pour moi comme des eaux de Noé, lorsque je jurai que les eaux de Noé ne se répandraient plus sur la terre: ainsi j'ai juré de ne plus m'irriter contre toi, et de ne plus te menacer.
As in the time of the waters of Noah, so shall it be now; As I swore that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, So do I swear that I will not be angry with thee, nor rebuke thee.
10 Quand les montagnes se retireraient, et que les collines seraient ébranlées, mon amour ne se retirerait pas de toi, et mon alliance de paix ne sera point ébranlée, dit celui qui a compassion de toi, Yahweh.
For the mountains shall depart, And the hills be overthrown, But my kindness shall not depart from thee, Nor shall my covenant of peace be overthrown, Saith Jehovah, that hath pity on thee.
11 Malheureuse, battue de la tempête, sans consolation, voici que je coucherai tes pierres dans l'antimoine, et que je te fonderai sur des saphirs;
O thou afflicted, beaten with the storm, destitute of consolation! Behold, I lay thy stones in cement of vermilion, And thy foundations with sapphires.
12 je ferai tes créneaux de rubis, tes portes d'escarboucles, et toute ton enceinte de pierres précieuses.
And I will make thy battlements of rubies, And thy gates of carbuncles, And all thy borders fill of precious stones.
13 Tous tes fils seront disciples de Yahweh, tes fils jouiront d'une grande paix.
All thy children shall be taught by Jehovah, And great shall be the prosperity of thy children.
14 Tu seras affermie sur la justice; loin de toi l'angoisse, car tu n'as rien à redouter; la frayeur, car elle n'approchera pas de toi.
By righteousness shalt thou be established; Be thou far from anxiety, for thou shalt have nothing to fear, And from terror, for it shall not come near thee.
15 Si une ligue se forme, cela ne viendra pas de moi; qui s'est ligué contre toi? Il tombera devant toi.
If any be leagued against thee, it is not by my command; Whoever shall be leagued against thee shall come over to thee.
16 Voici que moi, j'ai créé le forgeron, qui souffle sur les charbons ardents, et qui en retire l'arme qu'il doit travailler, et c'est moi qui ai créé le dévastateur pour la détruire.
Behold, I create the smith, Who bloweth up the coals into a fire, And produceth an instrument for his work; I also create the destroyer to lay waste.
17 Toute arme forgée contre toi sera sans effet, et toute langue qui s'élèvera pour contester avec toi, tu la condamneras. Tel est l'héritage des fils de Yahweh; telle est la justice qui leur viendra de moi — oracle de Yahweh.
Whatever weapon is formed against thee, it shall not prosper; And against every tongue that contendeth with thee, thou shalt obtain thy cause. This is the inheritance of the servants of Jehovah, And the blessing which they receive from me, saith Jehovah.
