Genèse 21
1 Yahweh visita Sara, comme il l’avait dit; Yahweh accomplit pour Sara ce qu’il avait promis.
Forsothe God visitide Sare, as he bihiyte, and fillide tho thingis, that he spak.
2 Sara conçut et enfanta à Abraham un fils dans sa vieillesse, au terme que Dieu lui avait marqué.
And sche conseyuede, and childide a sone in hir eeld, in the tyme wherynne God biforseide to hir.
3 Abraham donna au fils qui lui était né, que Sara lui avait enfanté, le nom d’Isaac.
And Abraham clepide the name of his sone, whom Sare childide to him, Ysaac.
4 Et Abraham circoncit Isaac, son fils, à l’âge de huit jours, comme Dieu le lui avait ordonné.
And Abraham circumcidide hym in the eiyte dai, as God comaundide to him,
5 Abraham avait cent ans à la naissance d’Isaac, son fils.
whanne he was of an hundrid yeer; for Ysaac was borun in this age of the fadir.
6 Et Sara dit: « Dieu m’a donné de quoi rire; quiconque l’apprendra rira à mon sujet. »
And Sare seide, The Lord made leiyynge to me, and who euer schal here schal leiye with me.
7 Elle ajouta: « Qui eût dit à Abraham: Sara allaitera des enfants? Car j’ai donné un fils à sa vieillesse. »
And eft sche seide, Who schulde here, and bileue to Abraham, that Sare schulde yyue soukyng to a sone, whom sche childide to him now an eld man?
8 L’enfant grandit, et on le sevra. Abraham fit un grand festin le jour où Isaac fut sevré.
Therfor the child encreesside, and was wenyd; and Abraham made a greet feeste in the dai of his wenyng.
9 Sara vit le fils d’Agar, l’Égyptienne, qu’elle avait enfanté à Abraham, qui riait,
And whanne Sare seiy the sone of Agar Egipcian pleiynge with Ysaac hir sone, sche seide to Abraham,
10 et elle dit à Abraham: « Chasse cette servante et son fils; car le fils de cette servante ne doit pas hériter avec mon fils, avec Isaac. »
Cast thou out the handmayde and hir sone; for the sone of the handmayde schal not be eir with my sone Ysaac.
11 Cette parole déplut beaucoup aux yeux d’Abraham, à cause de son fils Ismaël.
Abraham took this heuyli for his sone;
12 Mais Dieu dit à Abraham: « Que cela ne déplaise pas à tes yeux, à cause de l’enfant et de ta servante; quoi que Sara te demande, consens-y, car c’est d’Isaac que naîtra la postérité qui portera ton nom.
and God seide to hym, Be it not seyn scharp to thee on the child, and on thin handmayde; alle thingis whiche Sare seith to thee, here thou hir vois, for in Isaac seed schal be clepid to thee;
13 Néanmoins du fils de la servante je ferai aussi une nation, parce qu’il est né de toi. »
but also I schal make the sone of the handmaid in to a greet folk, for he is thi seed.
14 Abraham s’étant levé de bon matin, prit du pain et une outre d’eau, les donna à Agar et les mit sur son épaule; il lui remit aussi l’enfant, et il la renvoya. Elle s’en alla, errant dans le désert de Bersabée.
And so Abraham roos eerli, and took breed, and a botel of watir, and puttide on hir schuldre, and bitook the child, and lefte hir; and whanne sche hadde go, sche yede out of the weie in the wildirnesse of Bersabee.
15 Quand l’eau qui était dans l’outre fut épuisée, elle jeta l’enfant sous l’un des arbrisseaux,
And whanne the watir in the botel was endid, sche castide awei the child vndur a tre that was there;
16 et elle s’en alla s’asseoir vis-à-vis, à une portée d’arc; car elle disait: « Je ne veux pas voir mourir l’enfant. » Elle s’assit donc vis-à-vis, éleva la voix et pleura.
and sche yede awei, and sche sat euene ayens as fer as a bowe may caste; for sche seide, Y schal not se the child diynge; and sche sat ayens, and reiside hir vois, and wepte.
17 Dieu entendit la voix de l’enfant, et l’ange de Dieu appela du ciel Agar, en disant: « Qu’as-tu Agar? Ne crains point, car Dieu a entendu la voix de l’enfant, dans le lieu où il est.
Forsothe the Lord herde the vois of the child, and the aungel of the Lord clepide Agar fro heuene, and seide, What doist thou, Agar? nyle thou drede, for God hath herd the vois of the child fro the place where ynne he is.
18 Lève-toi, relève l’enfant, prends-le par la main, car je ferai de lui une grande nation. »
Rise thou, and take the child, and holde his hoond; for Y schal make hym in to a greet folc.
19 Et Dieu lui ouvrit les yeux, et elle vit un puits d’eau; elle alla remplir l’outre d’eau et donna à boire à l’enfant.
And God openyde hir iyen, and sche seiy a pit of watir, and sche yede, and fillide the botel, and sche yaf drynk to the child;
20 Dieu fut avec l’enfant, et il grandit; il habita dans le désert et devint un tireur d’arc.
and was with him, and he encresside, and dwellide in wildernesse, and he was maad a yong man an archer,
21 Il habitait dans le désert de Pharan, et sa mère prit pour lui une femme du pays d’Égypte.
and dwellide in the deseert of Faran; and his modir took to him a wijf of the lond of Egipt.
22 En ce temps-là, Abimélech, accompagné de Phicol, chef de son armée, parla ainsi à Abraham: « Dieu est avec toi dans tout ce que tu fais.
In the same tyme Abymelech, and Ficol, prince of his oost, seide to Abraham, God is with thee in alle thingis whiche thou doist;
23 Jure-moi donc ici, par le nom de Dieu, que tu ne tromperas ni moi, ni mes enfants, ni mes petits-enfants, mais que tu auras pour moi et pour ce pays où tu séjournes la même bienveillance dont j’ai usé envers toi. »
therfore swere thou bi God that thou noye not me, and myn eiris, and my kynrede; but bi the mersi whych Y dide to thee, do thou to me, and to the lond in which thou lyuedist a comelyng.
24 Abraham dit: « Je le jurerai. »
And Abraham seide, Y schal swere.
25 Mais Abraham fit des reproches à Abimélech au sujet d’un puits d’eau dont les serviteurs d’Abimélech s’étaient emparés de force.
And he blamyde Abymelech for the pit of watir, which hise seruauntis token awey bi violence.
26 Abimélech répondit: « J’ignore qui a fait cela; toi-même tu ne m’en as pas informé, et je n’en ai entendu parler qu’aujourd’hui. »
And Abymelech answerde, I wiste not who dide this thing, but also thou schewidist not to me, and Y herde not outakun to dai.
27 Et Abraham prit des brebis et des bœufs, et les donna à Abimélech, et ils firent alliance tous deux.
And so Abraham took scheep and oxun, and yaf to Abymalech, and bothe smyten a boond of pees.
28 Abraham mit à part sept jeunes brebis du troupeau,
And Abraham settide seuene ewe lambren of the flok asidis half.
29 et Abimélech dit à Abraham: « Qu’est-ce que ces sept jeunes brebis, que tu as mises à part? »
And Abymelech seide to hym, What wolen these seuene ewe lambren to hem silf, whiche thou madist stonde asidis half?
30 Il répondit: « Tu accepteras de ma main ces sept jeunes brebis, afin que ce soit pour moi un témoignage que j’ai creusé ce puits. »
And he seide, Thou schalt take of myn hond seuene ewe lambren, that tho be in to witnessyng to me, for Y diggide this pit.
31 C’est pourquoi on a appelé ce lieu Bersabée, parce que c’est là qu’ils ont tous deux prêté serment.
Therfor thilke place was clepid Bersabee, for euere eithir swore there;
32 C’est ainsi qu’ils firent alliance à Bersabée. Après quoi Abimélech se leva, avec Phicol, chef de son armée, et ils retournèrent au pays des Philistins.
and thei maden boond of pees for the pit of an ooth.
33 Abraham planta un tamaris à Bersabée, et il invoqua là le nom de Yahweh, Dieu éternel;
Forsothe Abymelech roos, and Ficol, prince of his chyualrie, and thei turneden ayen in to the lond of Palestyns. Sotheli Abraham plauntide a wode in Bersabee, and inwardli clepide there the name of euerlastinge God;
and he was an erthetiliere ether a comelynge of the lond of Palestynes in many dayes.
