Genèse 15
1 Après ces événements, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Abram en vision: « Ne crains point, Abram; je suis ton bouclier; ta récompense sera très grande. »
After these deades ye worde of God came vnto Abram in a vision saynge feare not Abram I am thy shilde and thy rewarde shalbe exceadynge greate.
2 Abram répondit: « Seigneur Yahweh, que me donnerez-vous? Je m’en vais sans enfants, et l’héritier de ma maison, c’est Eliézer de Damas. »
And Abram answered: LORde Iehouah what wilt thou geue me: I goo childlesse and the cater of myne housse this Eleasar of Damasco hath a sonne.
3 Et Abram dit: « Voici, vous ne m’avez pas donné de postérité, et un homme attaché à ma maison sera mon héritier. »
And Abram sayd: se to me hast thou geven no seed: lo a lad borne in my housse shalbe myne heyre.
4 Alors la parole de Yahweh lui fut adressée en ces termes: « Ce n’est pas lui qui sera ton héritier, mais celui qui sortira de tes entrailles sera ton héritier. »
And beholde the worde of the LORde spake vnto Abram sayenge: He shall not be thyne heyre but one that shall come out of thyne awne bodye shalbe thyne heyre.
5 Et, l’ayant conduit dehors, il dit: « Lève ton regard vers le ciel et compte les étoiles, si tu peux les compter. » Et il lui dit: « Telle sera ta postérité. »
And he brought him out at the doores ad sayde. Loke vpp vnto heaven and tell the starres yf thou be able to nobre them. And sayde vnto him Even so shall thy seed be.
6 Abram eut foi à Yahweh, et Yahweh le lui imputa à justice.
And Abram beleved the LORde and it was counted to him for rightwesnes.
7 Et il lui dit: « Je suis Yahweh, qui t’ai fait sortir d’Ur des Chaldéens, afin de te donner ce pays pour le posséder. »
And he sayde vnto hym: I am the LORde that brought the out of Vrin Chaldea to geue the this lande to possesse it.
8 Abram répondit: « Seigneur Yahweh, à quoi connaîtrai-je que je le posséderai? »
And he sayde: LORde God whereby shall I knowe that I shall possesse it?
9 Et Yahweh lui dit: « Prends une génisse de trois ans, une chèvre de trois ans, un bélier de trois ans, une tourterelle et un jeune pigeon. »
And he sayde vnto him: take an heyfer of. iij. yere olde and a she gotte of thre yeres olde and a thre yere olde ram a turtill doue and a yonge pigeon.
10 Abram lui amena tous ces animaux et, les ayant partagés par le milieu, il mit chaque moitié vis-à-vis de l’autre; mais il ne partagea pas les oiseaux.
And he toke all these and devyded them in the myddes and layde euery pece one over agenst a nother. But the foules devyded he not.
11 Les oiseaux de proie s’abattirent sur les cadavres, et Abram les chassa.
And the byrdes fell on the carcases but Abra droue the awaye.
12 Comme le soleil se couchait, un profond sommeil tomba sur Abram; une terreur, une obscurité profonde tombèrent sur lui.
And when the sonne was doune there fell a slomber apon Abram. And loo feare and greate darknesse came apon hym.
13 Yahweh dit à Abram: « Sache bien que tes descendants seront étrangers dans un pays qui ne sera pas à eux; ils y seront en servitude et on les opprimera pendant quatre cents ans.
And he sayde vnto Abram: knowe this of a suertie that thi seed shalbe a straunger in a lande that perteyneth not vnto the. And they shall make bondmen of them and entreate them evell iiij. hundred yeares.
14 Mais je jugerai la nation à laquelle ils auront été asservis, et ensuite ils sortiront avec de grands biens.
But the nation whom they shall serue wyll I iudge. And after warde shall they come out wyth greate substace.
15 Toi, tu t’en iras en paix vers tes pères; tu seras mis en terre dans une heureuse vieillesse.
Neuerthelesse thou shalt goo vnto thi fathers in peace ad shalt be buried when thou art of a good age:
16 À la quatrième génération ils reviendront ici; car jusqu’à présent l’iniquité de l’Amorrhéen n’est pas à son comble. »
ad in the fourth generation they shall come hyther agayne for the wekednesse of the Amorites ys not yet full.
17 Lorsque le soleil fut couché et qu’une profonde obscurité fut venue, voici qu’un four fumant et un brandon de feu passaient entre les animaux partagés.
When the sonne was doune and it was waxed darke: beholde there was a smokynge furnesse and a fyre brand that went betwene the sayde peces.
18 En ce jour-là, Yahweh fit alliance avec Abram, en disant: « Je donne à ta postérité ce pays, depuis le fleuve d’Égypte jusqu’au grand fleuve, au fleuve de l’Euphrate:
And that same daye the LORde made a covenaunte with Abram saynge: vnto thy seed wyll I geue thys londe fro the ryver of Egypte even vnto the greate ryver euphrates:
19 le pays des Cinéens, des Cénézéens, des Cadmonéens,
the kenytes the kenizites the Cadmonites
20 des Héthéens, des Phéréséens, des Rephaïm,
the Hethites the Pherezites the Raphaims
21 des Amorrhéens, des Chananéens, des Gergéséens et des Jébuséens.
the Amorytes the Canaanites the Gergesites and the Iebusites.
