Ézéchiel 1
1 Et la trentième année, au quatrième mois, le cinquième jour du mois, comme j’étais parmi les captifs, près du fleuve Chobar, les cieux s’ouvrirent et je vis des visions de Dieu.
[I am] Ezekiel, a priest, the son of Buzi. When I was 30 years [old], I [living] among [Israeli] people who had been (exiled from/forced to leave) [and had come to Babylon]. I was living along the Kebar River/ [south of Babylon]. Almost five years after King Jehoiachin had been (exiled/forced to leave Judah), on the fifth day of the fourth [of that year, it was as though] the sky was opened and I saw visions from God. On that day,
2 Le cinquième jour du mois, — c’était la cinquième année de la captivité du roi Joachin, —
3 la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Ézéchiel, fils de Buzi, prêtre, dans le pays des Chaldéens, près du fleuve Chobar, et là, la main de Yahweh fut sur lui.
God gave me [in visions here] in Babylonia, and I felt the power [MTY] of Yahweh on me.
4 Je vis, et voici qu’un vent de tempête venait du septentrion, et une grande nuée, et une masse de feu qui resplendissait alentour; et au milieu d’elle on voyait comme l’aspect d’un métal plongé dans le feu.
[In one of the visions, I saw a] windstorm coming from the north. There was a huge cloud, and lightning was flashing continually, and a brilliant light surrounded the cloud. In the center of where the lightning was flashing there was something that resembled glowing bronze.
5 Et au milieu, je vis la ressemblance de quatre êtres vivants, et voici quel était leur aspect: ils avaient une ressemblance humaine.
In the center of the storm I saw what resembled four living creatures. They resembled humans,
6 Chacun avait quatre faces, et chacun avait quatre ailes.
but each of them had four faces and four wings [DOU].
7 Leurs pieds étaient des pieds droits, et la plante de leurs pieds était comme la plante du pied d’un veau; ils étincelaient comme l’aspect de l’airain poli.
Their legs were straight. Their feet resembled the hooves of calves, and the creatures shone like polished bronze.
8 Des mains d’hommes sortaient de dessous leurs ailes, sur leurs quatre côtés; et tous les quatre avaient leurs faces et leurs ailes.
On their four sides under their wings there were hands like humans have.
9 Leurs ailes étaient jointes l’une à l’autre; ils ne tournaient point en marchant; chacun allait devant soi.
As the four [stood there, they formed a circle/square], with their wings touching each other. They did not turn when they were moving; they went straight ahead.
10 Et voici quelle était la ressemblance de leurs faces: une face d’homme par devant, une face de lion à droite à tous les quatre, une face de taureau à gauche à tous les quatre, et une face d’aigle à tous les quatre.
[of the creatures had four faces]. The face that was in front [of each one was a face that] resembled a human face. The face on the right side resembled a lion’s face. The face on the left side resembled an ox’s face. The face in back resembled an eagle’s face.
11 Et telles étaient leurs faces. Leurs ailes se déployaient au-dessus d’eux; chacun avait deux ailes qui rejoignaient celles de l’autre, et deux ailes qui couvraient son corps.
Two of each creature’s wings were lifted up and touched the wings of the creatures that were on each side. The other two wings were folded against the creature’s body.
12 Chacun allait devant soi; là où l’esprit les faisait aller, ils allaient; ils ne tournaient pas en allant.
The creatures went straight ahead in whatever direction the [that controlled/guided them] wanted them to go, without changing directions while they were moving.
13 L’aspect de ces êtres vivants ressemblait à des charbons ardents; c’était comme l’aspect des lampes; le feu circulait entre les êtres, le feu était éblouissant, et du feu sortaient des éclairs.
[four] creatures resembled burning coals or torches. A blazing fire moved back and forth among the creatures, and lighting flashed from among them.
14 Et les êtres vivants couraient en tous sens, comme l’aspect de la foudre.
The creatures moved back and [extremely rapidly], like [SIM] flashes of lightning.
15 Et je regardai les êtres vivants, et voici une roue à terre auprès d’eux, devant leurs quatre faces.
While I looked at the four living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each of them.
16 L’aspect des roues et leur forme étaient ceux de la pierre de Tharsis, et toutes quatre étaient semblables; leur aspect et leur forme étaient comme si une roue était au milieu d’une autre roue.
Each of the wheels was the same, and they all shone like [SIM] (chrysolite/a valuable green stone). Each seemed to have one wheel inside another wheel.
17 En avançant, elles allaient sur leurs quatre côtés et ne se retournaient pas dans leur marche.
Whenever they moved, they would go straight in one of the four directions that they faced; they did not [in another direction] while they moved.
18 Leurs jantes étaient d’une hauteur effrayante, et les jantes des quatre roues étaient remplies d’yeux tout autour.
The rims of the wheels were covered with eyes.
19 Quand les êtres allaient, les roues allaient aussi à côté d’eux, et quand les êtres s’élevaient de terre, les roues s’élevaient aussi.
Whenever the living creatures moved, the wheels moved with them. [So] whenever the creatures rose from the ground, the [also] rose up.
20 Là où l’esprit les poussait à aller, ils y allaient, l’esprit les y poussant, et les roues s’élevaient avec eux; car l’esprit de l’être vivant était dans les roues.
Wherever the [that controlled the creatures] wanted the creatures to go, they went, and the wheels went with them, because the [that controlled/guided them] was in the wheels [DOU].
21 Quand ils allaient, elles allaient; quand ils s’arrêtaient, elles s’arrêtaient; et quand ils s’élevaient de terre, les roues s’élevaient avec eux; car l’esprit de l’être vivant était dans les roues.
Whenever the creatures moved, the wheels moved. Whenever the creatures [still], the wheels stopped. Whenever the creatures rose up from the ground, the wheels rose up with them.
22 Au-dessus des têtes des êtres vivants, était la ressemblance d’un firmament, pareil à un cristal éblouissant; il était étendu au-dessus de leurs têtes.
Above the heads of the creatures there was something that resembled a dome. It shone like ice (OR, crystal) shines, and it was awesome.
23 Et sous le firmament se dressaient leurs ailes, l’une vers l’autre, et chacun en avait deux qui lui couvraient le corps de chaque côté.
Under the dome, the creatures stretched out their wings. Each one had two wings; [each wing] stretched towards the creature [was next to] it, and two wings that were against the creature’s body.
24 Et j’entendis le bruit de leurs ailes, quand ils allaient, comme le bruit des grandes eaux, comme la voix du Tout-Puissant, un bruit tumultueux comme celui d’un camp; quand ils s’arrêtaient, ils laissaient retomber leurs ailes.
Whenever the creatures moved, their wings made a sound that resembled the roar made by a rushing stream. It also sounded like the voice of Almighty God, and like [SIM] the noise of a huge army marching. Whenever the creatures stood [on the ground], they lowered their wings.
25 Et il se faisait un bruit, partant du firmament étendu sur leurs têtes; quand ils s’arrêtaient, ils laissaient retomber leurs ailes.
While they [on the ground] with their wings lowered, there was a voice from the dome that was over their heads.
26 Au-dessus du firmament qui était sur leurs têtes, il y avait comme l’aspect d’une pierre de saphir, en forme de trône; et sur cette ressemblance de trône, il semblait y avoir comme une figure d’homme au-dessus.
Above the dome was something that resembled [huge] [that was made of a huge] (sapphire/valuable blue stone). Sitting on the throne was someone that resembled a human.
27 Au-dedans et alentour, je vis comme une forme de métal, comme un aspect de feu, depuis ce qui paraissait ses reins et au-dessus; et depuis ce qui paraissait ses reins et au-dessous, je vis comme l’aspect du feu, et il y avait de l’éclat tout autour de lui.
I saw that above his waist his body resembled metal that was glowing as though it [a very hot] fire inside it. And I saw that below his waist there was a very brilliant light that surrounded him.
28 Comme l’aspect de l’arc qui est dans la nuée en un jour de pluie, tel était l’aspect de l’éclat tout autour de lui. Tel était l’aspect de la ressemblance de la gloire de Yahweh. À cette vue, je tombai sur ma face, et j’entendis la voix de quelqu’un qui parlait.
[shone] like [SIM] a rainbow shines in the clouds on a rainy day. That was the brilliant light that represented the presence of Yahweh. When I saw it, I prostrated myself on the ground, and I heard him speak.
