Ézéchiel 21
1 Et la parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 " Fils de l'homme, tourne ta face vers Jérusalem, et fais découler ta parole vers les lieux saints, et prophétise contre la terre d'Israël.
Therefore prophesy, son of man, set your face steadfastly toward Jerusalem, and look toward their holy places, and you shall prophesy against the land of Israel,
3 Dis à la terre d'Israël: Ainsi parle Yahweh: Voici que je viens à toi; je tirerai mon épée de son fourreau, et j'exterminerai de ton sein juste et méchant.
and you shall say to the land of Israel, Thus says the Lord; Behold, I am against you, and I will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and I will destroy out of you the transgressor and unrighteous.
4 Et parce que je vais exterminer de ton sein juste et méchant, à cause de cela, mon épée sortira de son fourreau contre toute chair, du midi au septentrion.
Because I will destroy out of you the unrighteous and the transgressor, [therefore] so shall my sword come forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
5 Et toute chair saura que c'est moi, Yahweh, qui ai tiré mon épée du fourreau; elle n'y rentrera plus.
and all flesh shall know that I the Lord have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath: it shall not return any more.
6 Et toi, fils de l'homme, gémis; jusqu'à te rompre les reins avec amertume, gémis devant eux.
And you, son of man, groan with the breaking of your loins; you shall even groan heavily in their sight.
7 Et quand ils te diront: pourquoi gémis-tu? Tu répondras: A cause d'une nouvelle qui arrive. Et tout cœur se fondra, toute main faiblira, tout esprit sera dans le trouble, tout genou s'en ira en eau. Voici qu'elle arrive; c'est fait, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh. "
And it shall come to pass, if they shall say to you, Therefore do you groan? that you shall say, For the report; because it comes: and every heart shall break, and all hands shall become feeble, and all flesh and every spirit shall faint, and all thighs shall be defiled with moisture: behold, it comes, says the Lord.
8 Et la parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
9 " Fils de l'homme, prophétise et dis: Ainsi parle Yahweh: Dis: L'épée, l'épée est aiguisée et fourbie:
Son of man, prophesy, and you shall say, Thus says the Lord; Say, Sword, sword, be sharpened and rage,
10 c'est pour faire un massacre qu'elle est aiguisée, pour faire briller l'éclair qu'elle est fourbie. Ou bien nous réjouirons-nous en disant: " Le sceptre de mon fils méprise tout bois? "
that you may kill victims; be sharpened that you may be bright, ready for slaughter, kill, set at nothing, despise every tree.
11 On l'a donnée à fourbir pour qu'on la prenne en main; c'est une épée aiguisée, et elle est fourbie, pour qu'on la mette dans la main de l'égorgeur.
And he made it ready for his hand to hold: the sword is sharpened, it is ready to put into the hand of the slayer.
12 Crie et hurle, fils de l'homme, car elle est pour mon peuple, elle est pour tous les princes d'Israël. Ils sont livrés à l'épée avec mon peuple; frappe donc sur ta cuisse!
Cry out and howl, son of man: for this [sword] is come upon my people, this [sword is come] upon all the princes of Israel: they shall be as strangers: [judgment] with the sword is come upon my people: therefore clap your hands, for sentence has been passed:
13 Car l'épreuve est faite: et quoi donc? Si ce sceptre continue de mépriser, mes menaces ne se réaliseraient pas, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh!
and what if even the tribe be rejected? it shall not be, says the Lord God.
14 Et toi, fils de l'homme, prophétise et frappe main contre main: Que l'épée double, triple ses coups! C'est l'épée du carnage, l'épée du grand carnage, qui les encercle.
And you, son of man, prophesy, and clap your hands, and take a second sword: the third sword is [the sword] of the slain, the great sword of the slain: and you shall strike them with amazement, lest the heart should faint
15 Pour que les cœurs se fondent, et pour multiplier les victimes, j'ai mis à toutes les portes l'épée meurtrière. Ah! elle est préparée pour lancer l'éclair, elle est aiguisée pour le carnage!
and the weak ones be multiplied at every gate—they are given up to the slaughter of the sword: it is well fitted for slaughter, it is well fitted for glittering.
16 En position à droite! En place à gauche! Fais face de tous côtés.
And do you go on, sharpen yourself on the right and on the left wherever your face may set itself.
17 Moi aussi, je frapperai main contre main; et j'assouvirai mon courroux. Moi, Yahweh, j'ai parlé. "
And I also will clap my hands, and let loose my fury: I the Lord have spoken [it].
18 Et la parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
19 " Toi, fils de l'homme, trace deux chemins par où puisse aller l'épée du roi de Babylone; que tous deux partent du même pays, et grave un signe, grave-le à l'entrée du chemin d'une ville.
and you, son of man, appoint you two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may enter in: the two shall go forth of one country; and [there shall be] a force at the top of the way of the city, you shall set [it] at the top of the way,
20 Tu traceras un chemin à l'épée pour aller à Rabbath, capitale des fils d'Ammon, ou en Juda, contre Jérusalem, ville forte.
that the sword may enter in upon Rabbath of the children of Ammon, and upon Judea, and upon Jerusalem in the midst thereof.
21 Car le roi de Babylone s'est arrêté au carrefour, à la tête des deux chemins, pour tirer des présages: il secoue les flèches, il interroge les théraphim, il examine le foie.
For the king of Babylon shall stand on the old way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination, to make bright the arrow, and to enquire of the graven images, and to examine [the victims].
22 Dans sa droite est le présage " Jérusalem ", pour dresser des béliers contre les murailles, pour ouvrir une entrée par une brèche, pour pousser à haute voix le cri de guerre, pour dresser des béliers contre les portes, pour élever des terrasses, pour construire des murs.
On his right was the divination against Jerusalem, to cast a mound, to open the mouth in shouting, to lift up the voice with crying, to cast a mound against her gates, to cast up a heap, and to build forts.
23 A leurs yeux, ce n'est qu'une divination mensongère; ils ont pour eux les serments les plus sacrés; mais lui les fera souvenir de leurs iniquités lorsqu'ils seront pris.
And he was to them as one using divination before them, and he himself recounting his iniquities, that they might be borne in mind.
24 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Parce que vous avez rappelé votre iniquité en manifestant vos transgressions, en faisant voir vos péchés dans toutes vos actions, parce que vous vous êtes rappelés au souvenir, vous serez pris avec la main.
Therefore thus says the Lord, Because you have caused your iniquities to be remembered, in the discovery of your wickedness, so that your sins should be seen, in all your wickedness and in your [evil] practices; because you have caused remembrance [of them], in these shall you be taken.
25 Et toi, profane, méchant prince d'Israël, dont le jour est venu, maintenant que l'iniquité est à son terme,
And you profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day, [even] an end, is come in a sea of iniquity, thus says the Lord;
26 ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: La tiare va être ôtée et la couronne enlevée; tout sera bouleversé; ce qui est bas sera élevé, ce qui est haut sera abaissé.
You have taken off the mitre and put on the crown, it shall not have such [another] after it: you have abased that which was high, and exalted that which was low.
27 J'en ferai une ruine, une ruine, une ruine; cela ne sera plus, jusqu'à ce que vienne celui à qui appartient le jugement et à qui je le remettrai.
Injustice, injustice, injustice, will I make it: woe to it: such shall it be until he comes to whom it belongs; and I will deliver [it] to him.
28 Et toi, fils de l'homme, prophétise et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh, contre les fils d'Ammon et au sujet de leurs outrages. Dis: L'épée, l'épée est tirée pour massacrer; elle est fourbie pour dévorer, pour lancer l'éclair.
And you, son of man, prophesy, and you shall say, Thus says the Lord, concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and you shall say, O sword, sword, drawn for slaughter, and drawn for destruction, awake, that you may gleam.
29 — pendant qu'on a pour toi des visions vaines, et des présages menteurs, — pour te placer avec les cadavres des méchants livrés au glaive, dont le jour est venu au temps où l'iniquité est à son terme.
While you are seeing vain [visions], and while you are prophesying falsehoods, to bring yourself upon the necks of ungodly transgressors, the day is come, [even] an end, in a season of iniquity.
30 Rentre ton épée dans son fourreau; c'est dans le lieu ou tu as été créé, sur la terre où tu as pris naissance que je te jugerai.
Turn, rest not in this place wherein you were born: in your own land will I judge you.
31 Je répandrai sur toi mon courroux; avec le feu de ma fureur je soufflerai sur toi, et je te livrerai aux mains d'hommes insensés, à des artisans de destruction.
And I will pour out my wrath upon you, I will blow upon you with the fire of my wrath, and I will deliver you into the hands of barbarians skilled in working destruction.
32 Tu seras la pâture du feu, ton sang sera au milieu du pays, on ne se souviendra pas de toi; car moi, Yahweh, j'ai parlé. "
You shall be fuel for fire; your blood shall be in the midst of your land; there shall be no remembrance at all of you: for I the Lord have spoken [it].
