Deutéronome 11
1 Tu aimeras Yahweh, ton Dieu, et tu observeras ce qu'il demande de toi, ses lois, ses ordonnances et ses commandements, tous les jours de ta vie.
Therefore you shall love Jehovah your God, and keep his instructions, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, always.
2 Reconnaissez aujourd'hui, — car je ne m'adresse pas à vos enfants, qui ne connaissent pas et qui n'ont pas vu les leçons de Yahweh, votre Dieu, — reconnaissez sa grandeur, sa main forte et son bras étendu;
Know this day: for I do not speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of Jehovah your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm,
3 ses prodiges et ses œuvres qu'il a faits au milieu de l'Egypte, contre Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et contre tout son pays;
and his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land;
4 ce qu'il a fait à l'armée d'Egypte, à ses chevaux et à ses chars, comment il a précipité sur eux les eaux de la mer Rouge, lorsqu'ils vous poursuivaient, et comment Yahweh les a détruits jusqu'à ce jour.
and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Jehovah has destroyed them to this day;
5 Reconnaissez ce qu'il a fait pour vous dans le désert, jusqu'à votre arrivée en ce lieu;
and what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came to this place;
6 ce qu'il a fait à Dathan et Abiron, fils d'Eliab, fils de Ruben, que la terre, ouvrant sa bouche, engloutit, avec leurs maisons, leurs tentes et toutes les personnes de leur suite, au milieu de tout Israël.
and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel:
7 Car vos yeux ont vu toutes les grandes œuvres que Yahweh a faites.
but your eyes have seen all the great work of Jehovah which he did.
8 Vous observerez donc tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui, afin que vous soyez forts, que vous entriez et que vous vous rendiez maîtres du pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession,
Therefore you shall keep every commandment which I command you this day, that you may be strong, and multiply, and go in and possess the land, where you go over to possess it;
9 et afin que vous prolongiez vos jours sur la terre que Yahweh a juré à vos pères de leur donner, à eux et à leur postérité, pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
and that you may prolong your days in the land, which Jehovah swore to your fathers to give to them and to their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.
10 Car le pays où tu vas entrer pour le posséder n'est pas comme le pays d'Egypte, d'où vous êtes sortis, que tu ensemençais et que tu arrosais avec ton pied, comme un jardin potager.
For the land, where you go in to possess it, isn't as the land of Egypt, that you came out from, where you sowed your seed, and watered it with your feet, as a garden of herbs;
11 Mais le pays où vous allez passer pour le posséder est un pays de montagnes et de vallées, qui boit les eaux de la pluie du ciel;
but the land, where you go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water of the rain of the sky,
12 un pays dont Yahweh, ton Dieu, prend soin, et sur lequel Yahweh a continuellement les yeux, depuis le commencement de l'année jusqu'à la fin de l'année.
a land which Jehovah your God cares for: the eyes of Jehovah your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.
13 Si vous obéissez à mes commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui, aimant Yahweh, votre Dieu, et le servant de tout votre cœur et de toute votre âme,
It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love Jehovah your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
14 je donnerai à votre pays la pluie en son temps, la pluie de la première et celle de la dernière saison, et tu recueilleras ton blé, ton vin nouveau et ton huile;
that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, and your new wine, and your oil.
15 je mettrai aussi de l'herbe dans tes champs pour ton bétail, et tu mangeras et te rassasieras.
I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.
16 Prenez garde à vous, de peur que votre cœur ne soit séduit, que vous ne vous détourniez et ne serviez d'autres dieux et ne vous prosterniez devant eux.
Be careful, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
17 La colère de Yahweh s'enflammerait contre vous; il fermerait le ciel, et il n'y aurait point de pluie; la terre ne donnerait pas ses produits et vous péririez promptement dans le bon pays que Yahweh vous donne.
and the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky, so that there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which Jehovah gives you.
18 Mettez donc sur votre cœur et sur votre âme ces paroles que je vous dis. Vous les lierez comme un signe sur vos mains, et elles seront comme des fronteaux entre vos yeux.
Therefore you shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes.
19 Vous les enseignerez à vos enfants, et vous leur en parlerez, soit quand tu resteras dans ta maison, ou que tu iras en voyage, soit quand tu te coucheras ou que tu te lèveras.
You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
20 Tu les écriras sur les poteaux de ta maison et sur tes portes:
You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates;
21 afin que vos jours et les jours de vos enfants, dans le pays que Yahweh a juré à vos pères de leur donner, soient aussi nombreux que les jours des cieux au-dessus de la terre.
that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.
22 Car si vous observez soigneusement tous ces commandements que je vous prescris d'accomplir, aimant Yahweh, votre Dieu, marchant dans toutes ses voies et vous attachant à lui,
For if you shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you to do, to love Jehovah your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him;
23 Yahweh chassera toutes ces nations devant vous, et vous vous rendrez maîtres de nations plus grandes et plus puissantes que vous.
then will Jehovah drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.
24 Tout lieu que foulera la plante de vos pieds sera à vous; votre frontière s'étendra du désert au Liban, et du fleuve de l'Euphrate jusqu'à la mer occidentale.
Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Perath, even to the western sea shall be your border.
25 Nul ne tiendra devant vous; Yahweh, votre Dieu, répandra devant vous, comme il vous l'a dit, la crainte et l'effroi sur tout le pays où vous mettrez le pied.
No man shall be able to stand before you: Jehovah your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you shall tread on, as he has spoken to you.
26 Voici que je mets aujourd'hui devant vous une bénédiction et une malédiction:
Look, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:
27 la bénédiction, si vous obéissez aux commandements de Yahweh, votre Dieu, que je vous prescris aujourd'hui;
the blessing, if you shall listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day;
28 la malédiction, si vous n'obéissez pas aux commandements de Yahweh, votre Dieu, et si vous vous détournez de la voie que je vous prescris en ce jour, pour aller après d'autres dieux que vous n'avez pas connus.
and the curse, if you shall not listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known.
29 Et lorsque Yahweh, ton Dieu, t'aura fait entrer dans le pays où tu vas pour en prendre possession, tu prononceras la bénédiction sur le mont Garizim, et la malédiction sur le mont Ebal.
It shall happen, when Jehovah your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal.
30 Ces montagnes ne sont-elles pas de l'autre côté du Jourdain, derrière le chemin de l'occident, au pays des Chananéens qui habitent dans l'Arabah, vis-à-vis de Galgala, près des térébinthes de Moré?
Aren't they beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah, over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?
31 Car vous allez passer le Jourdain pour entrer en possession du pays que Yahweh, votre Dieu, vous donne; vous le posséderez et vous y habiterez.
For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God gives you, and you shall possess it, and dwell in it.
32 Vous aurez donc soin d'observer toutes les lois et toutes les ordonnances que je mets aujourd'hui devant vous. »
You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.
