Actes 14
1 À Iconium, Paul et Barnabé entrèrent de même dans la synagogue des Juifs, et y parlèrent de telle sorte qu’une grande multitude de Juifs et de Grecs embrassèrent la foi.
And it came to pass in Iconium according to the same thing, for them to enter into the synagogue of the Jews, and to speak so as for a great quantity to believe, both of Jews and of Greeks.
2 Mais les Juifs restés incrédules excitèrent et aigrirent l’esprit des Gentils contre leurs frères.
But the disobedient Jews aroused the souls of the Gentiles, and made them evil against the brothers.
3 Ils firent néanmoins un assez long séjour, parlant avec assurance, appuyés par le Seigneur, qui rendait témoignage à la parole de sa grâce, par les prodiges et les miracles qu’il leur donnait de faire.
Indeed therefore they remained a considerable time speaking boldly in the Lord-him testifying to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to occur by their hands.
4 Toute la ville se divisa; les uns étaient pour les Juifs, les autres pour les Apôtres.
But the majority of the city was divided, and verily there were those with the Jews, and those with the apostles.
5 Mais comme les Gentils et les Juifs, avec leurs chefs, se mettaient en mouvement pour les outrager et les lapider,
And as a violent movement developed, both of the Gentiles and of the Jews, with their rulers, to denounce and to stone them,
6 les Apôtres, l’ayant su, se réfugièrent dans les villes de Lycaonie, Lystres et Derbé, et le pays d’alentour,
having become aware of it, they fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, and Derbe, and the neighboring region.
7 et ils y annoncèrent la bonne nouvelle.
And there they were preaching the good news.
8 Il y avait à Lystres un homme perclus des jambes, qui se tenait assis, car il était boiteux de naissance et n’avait jamais marché.
And a certain man was sitting in Lystra, disabled in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's belly, who had never walked.
9 Il écoutait Paul parler; et Paul, ayant arrêté les yeux sur lui et voyant qu’il avait la foi pour être guéri,
This man was listening to Paul speaking, who, having gazed at him, and having seen that he has faith to be healed,
10 dit d’une voix forte: « Lève-toi droit sur tes pieds. » Aussitôt il bondit et il marchait.
said with a great voice, Stand correctly on thy feet. And he leaped up and walked.
11 À la vue de ce que Paul venait de faire, la foule éleva la voix et dit en lycaonien: « Les dieux sous une forme humaine sont descendus vers nous. »
And the multitudes who saw what Paul did, lifted up their voice, speaking Lycaonian, The gods came down to us, having become like men.
12 Et ils appelaient Barnabé Jupiter, et Paul Mercure, parce que c’était lui qui portait la parole.
And they actually called Barnabas, Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the man who led the word.
13 De plus, le prêtre du temple de Jupiter, qui était à l’entrée de la ville, amena devant les portes des taureaux avec des bandelettes, et voulait, ainsi que la foule, offrir un sacrifice.
And the priest of Zeus, being in front of their city, after bringing oxen and garlands to the gates, wanted to sacrifice with the multitudes.
14 Les Apôtres Paul et Barnabé, l’ayant appris, déchirèrent leurs vêtements et se précipitèrent au milieu de la foule;
But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard, having torn their garments, they rushed into the crowd, crying out
15 et, d’une voix retentissante, ils disaient: « Ô hommes, pourquoi faites-vous cela? Nous aussi, nous sommes des hommes sujets aux mêmes faiblesses que vous; nous vous annonçons qu’il faut quitter ces vanités pour vous tourner vers le Dieu vivant, qui a fait le ciel et la terre, la mer, et tout ce qu’ils renferment.
and saying, Men, why are ye doing these things? We also are men of like nature with you, proclaiming good news to you, to turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all the things in them,
16 Ce Dieu, dans les siècles passés, a laissé toutes les nations suivre leurs voies,
who in the generations that have passed allowed all the nations to go in their own ways,
17 sans que toutefois il ait cessé de se rendre témoignage à lui-même, faisant du bien, dispensant du ciel les pluies et les saisons favorables, nous donnant la nourriture avec abondance et remplissant nos cœurs de joie. »
although he did not leave himself without evidence, doing good and giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts of food and gladness.
18 Malgré ces paroles, ils ne parvinrent qu’avec peine à empêcher le peuple de leur offrir un sacrifice.
And saying these things, they scarcely restrained the multitudes not to sacrifice to them.
19 Alors survinrent d’Antioche et d’Iconium des Juifs qui, ayant gagné le peuple, lapidèrent Paul et le traînèrent hors de la ville, le croyant mort.
But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium. And having persuaded the crowds, and having stoned Paul, they dragged him out of the city, after presuming him to be dead.
20 Mais les disciples l’ayant entouré, il se releva et rentra dans la ville. Le lendemain, il partit pour Derbé avec Barnabé.
But the disciples having surrounded him, after rising, he came into the city. And on the morrow he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 Quand ils eurent évangélisé cette ville et fait un assez grand nombre de disciples, ils retournèrent à Lystres, à Iconium et à Antioche,
And having preached the good news to that city, and having made considerable disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to Iconium, and to Antioch,
22 fortifiant l’esprit des disciples, les exhortant à persévérer dans la foi, et disant que c’est par beaucoup de tribulations qu’il nous faut entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.
strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that it was necessary for us to enter into the kingdom of God through many tribulations.
23 Ils instituèrent des Anciens dans chaque Église, après avoir prié et jeûné, et les recommandèrent au Seigneur, en qui ils avaient cru.
And having appointed elders for them in every congregation, having prayed with fasting, they entrusted them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.
24 Traversant ensuite la Pisidie, ils vinrent en Pamphylie,
And after passing through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.
25 et après avoir annoncé la parole de Dieu à Perge, ils descendirent à Attalie.
And when they spoke the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia,
26 De là ils firent voile pour Antioche, d’où ils étaient partis, après avoir été recommandés à la grâce de Dieu, pour l’œuvre qu’ils venaient d’accomplir.
and from there they sailed to Antioch, from where they were delivered to the grace of God for the work that they fulfilled.
27 Dès qu’ils furent arrivés, ils assemblèrent l’Église, et racontèrent tout ce que Dieu avait fait pour eux, et comment il avait ouvert aux nations la porte de la foi.
And after arriving, and after gathering the assembly together, they reported as many things as God did with them, and that he opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.
28 Et ils demeurèrent à Antioche assez longtemps avec les disciples.
And they remained there no little time with the disciples.
