2 Samuel 5

1 Toutes les tribus d’Israël vinrent auprès de David, à Hébron, et dirent: « Nous voici: nous sommes tes os et ta chair.

And all the tribes of Israel come to David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, “Behold, we [are] your bone and your flesh;

2 Autrefois déjà, quand Saül était notre roi, c’était toi qui menais et ramenais Israël. Et Yahweh t’a dit: « C’est toi qui paîtras mon peuple d’Israël, et c’est toi qui seras prince sur Israël. »

also thus far, in Saul’s being king over us, you have been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and YHWH says to you, You feed My people Israel, and you are for leader over Israel.”

3 Ainsi tous les anciens d’Israël vinrent auprès du roi, à Hébron, et le roi David fit alliance avec eux devant Yahweh, à Hébron, et ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël.

And all [the] elderly of Israel come to the king, to Hebron, and King David makes a covenant with them in Hebron before YHWH, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

4 David était âgé de trente ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna quarante ans.

A son of thirty years [is] David in his being king; he has reigned [for] forty years;

5 À Hébron, il régna sur Juda sept ans et six mois, et il régna à Jérusalem trente-trois ans sur tout Israël et Juda.

he reigned over Judah in Hebron [for] seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned [for] thirty-three years, over all Israel and Judah.

6 Le roi marcha avec ses hommes sur Jérusalem contre les Jébuséens, habitants du pays. Et on dit à David: « Tu n’entreras pas ici, mais les aveugles et les boiteux te repousseront ». Ce qui voulait dire: David n’entrera jamais ici.

And the king goes, and his men, to Jerusalem, to the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, “You do not come in here, except [that] you turn aside the blind and the lame,” saying, “David does not come in here.”

7 Mais David s’empara de la forteresse de Sion: c’est la cité de David.

And David captures the fortress of Zion, it [is] the City of David.

8 David dit ce jour-là: « Quiconque frappera les Jébuséens et atteindra par le canal… » Quant aux boiteux et aux aveugles, ce sont les ennemis de l’âme de David. De là vient le dicton: « L’aveugle et le boiteux n’entreront point dans la maison. »

And on that day David says, “Anyone striking the Jebusite, let him go up by the watercourse (and the lame and the blind—the hated of David’s soul).” Therefore they say, “The blind and lame—he does not come into the house.”

9 David s’établit dans la forteresse et l’appela cité de David, et David bâtit à l’entour, à partir du Mello, et à l’intérieur.

And David dwells in the fortress, and calls it the City of David, and David builds all around, from Millo and inward,

10 David devenait de plus en plus grand, et Yahweh, le Dieu des armées, était avec lui.

and David goes, going on and becoming great, and YHWH, God of Hosts, [is] with him.

11 Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya des messagers à David, avec des bois de cèdre, ainsi que des charpentiers et des tailleurs de pierres, qui bâtirent une maison à David.

And Hiram king of Tyre sends messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and craftsmen of wood, and craftsmen of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,

12 Et David reconnut que Yahweh l’affermissait comme roi sur Israël, et qu’il élevait sa royauté à cause de son peuple d’Israël.

and David knows that YHWH has established him for king over Israel, and that He has lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.

13 David prit encore des concubines et des femmes de Jérusalem, après qu’il fut venu d’Hébron, et il naquit encore à David des fils et des filles.

And again David takes concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and again there are born to David sons and daughters.

14 Voici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem: Samua, Sobab, Nathan, Salomon,

And these [are] the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 Jébahar, Elisua, Népheg,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 Japhia, Elisama, Elioda et Eliphaleth.

and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 Les Philistins apprirent qu’on avait oint David pour roi sur Israël; alors tous les Philistins montèrent pour rechercher David. David l’apprit et il descendit à la forteresse.

And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David hears, and goes down to the fortress,

18 Les Philistins, étant venus, se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaïm.

and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.

19 David consulta Yahweh, en disant: « Monterai-je contre les Philistins? Les livrerez-vous entre mes mains? » Et Yahweh dit à David: « Monte, car je livrerai certainement les Philistins entre tes mains. »

And David asks of YHWH, saying, “Do I go up to the Philistines? Do You give them into my hand?” And YHWH says to David, “Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into your hand.”

20 David vint donc à Baal-Pharasim, et là David les battit. Et il dit: « Yahweh a brisé mes ennemis devant moi, comme les eaux brisent les digues. » C’est pourquoi on a donné à ce lieu le nom de Baal-Pharasim.

And David comes to Ba‘al-Perazim, and David strikes them there, and says, “YHWH has broken forth [on] my enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters”; therefore he has called the name of that place Ba‘al-Perazim.

21 Ils laissèrent là leurs idoles, et David et ses gens les emportèrent.

And they forsake their idols there, and David and his men lift them up.

22 Les Philistins montèrent de nouveau et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaïm.

And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the Valley of Rephaim,

23 Et David consulta Yahweh, qui lui dit: « Ne monte pas; tourne-les par derrière, et tu arriveras sur eux du côté des balsamiers.

and David asks of YHWH, and He says, “You do not go up, turn around to their rear, and you have come to them from the front [[or in front]] of the mulberries,

24 Quand tu entendras un bruit de pas dans les cimes des balsamiers, alors attaque vivement, car alors Yahweh sortira devant toi pour porter ses coups dans l’armée des Philistins. »

and it comes to pass, in your hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then you move sharply, for then YHWH has gone out before you to strike in the camp of the Philistines.”

25 David fit ainsi, comme Yahweh le lui ordonnait, et il battit les Philistins depuis Gabaa jusqu’à Géser.

And David does so, as YHWH commanded him, and strikes the Philistines from Geba to your coming to Gazer.
