1 La douzième année d’Achaz, roi de Juda, Osée, fils d’Ela, régna sur Israël à Samarie; son règne fut de neuf ans.
Yn the tweluethe yeer of Achaz, kyng of Juda, Osee, sone of Hela, regnyde in Samarie on Israel nyne yeer.
2 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, non pas cependant comme les rois d’Israël qui avaient été avant lui.
And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, but not as the kyngis of Israel, that weren bifor hym.
3 Salmanasar, roi d’Assyrie, monta contre lui, et Osée fut assujetti et lui paya tribut.
Salmanasar, kyng of Assiriens, stiede ayens this Osee, and Osee was maad seruaunt to hym, and yildide tributis to hym.
4 Mais le roi d’Assyrie découvrit une conspiration d’Osée, qui avait envoyé des messagers à Sua, roi d’Égypte, et qui ne payait plus le tribut au roi d’Assyrie, année par année; le roi d’Assyrie le fit donc saisir et jeter enchaîné dans une prison.
And whanne the kyng of Assiriens hadde perseyued, that Osee he enforside to be rebelle, and hadde sent messangeris to Sua, kyng of Egipt, that he schulde not yyue tributis to the kyng of Assiriens, as he was wont bi alle yeeris, `the kyng of Assiriens bisegide hym, and sente him boundun in to prisoun.
5 Et le roi d’Assyrie parcourut tout le pays et monta contre Samarie; il l’assiégea pendant trois ans.
And he yede thoruy al the lond, and he stiede to Samarie, and bisegide it bi thre yeer.
6 La neuvième année d’Osée, le roi d’Assyrie prit Samarie; et emmena Israël captif en Assyrie. Il leur assigna pour séjour Hala, les rives du Habor, fleuve de Gosan, et les villes des Mèdes.
Forsothe in the nynthe yeer of Osee, the kyng of Assiriens took Samarie, and translatide Israel in to Assiriens; and he puttide hem in Hela, and in Thabor, bisidis the flood Gozam, in the citee of Medeis.
7 Cela arriva parce que les enfants d’Israël avaient péché contre Yahweh, leur Dieu, qui les avait fait monter du pays d’Égypte, de dessous la main de Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, et parce qu’ils avaient craint d’autres dieux.
Forsothe it was don, whanne the sones of Israel hadden synned bifor her Lord God, that ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt, fro the hond of Farao, kyng of Egipt, thei worschipeden alien goddis;
8 Ils suivirent les rites des nations que Yahweh avait chassées devant les enfants d’Israël, et ceux que les rois d’Israël avaient établis.
and yeden bi the custom of hethene men, whiche the Lord hadde wastid in the siyt of the sones of Israel, and of the kyngis of Israel, for thei hadden do in lijk maner.
9 Les enfants d’Israël couvrirent d’une fausse apparence des choses qui n’étaient pas bien à l’égard de Yahweh, leur Dieu. Ils se bâtirent des hauts lieux dans toutes leurs villes, depuis les tours des gardiens jusqu’aux villes fortifiées.
And the sones of Israel offendiden her Lord God bi wordis not riytful, and thei bildiden to hem silf hiy thingis in alle her citees, fro the tour of keperis `til to a strengthid citee.
10 Ils se dressèrent des stèles et des aschérahs sur toute colline élevée et sous tout arbre vert.
And thei maden to hem ymagis, and wodis, in ech hiy hil, and vndur ech tree ful of bowis;
11 Et là ils brûlèrent des parfums sur tous les hauts lieux, comme les nations que Yahweh avait emmenées captives devant eux, et ils firent des choses mauvaises, irritant ainsi Yahweh.
and thei brenten there encence on the auteris bi the custom of hethene men, whiche the Lord hadde translatid fro the face of hem. And thei diden werste wordis, and thei wraththiden the Lord;
12 Ils servirent les idoles, au sujet desquelles Yahweh leur avait dit: « Vous ne ferez pas cela. »
and worschipiden vnclenesses, of whiche the Lord comaundide to hem, that thei schulden not do this word.
13 Yahweh rendit témoignage contre Israël et contre Juda par tous ses prophètes, par tous les voyants, en disant: « Revenez de vos mauvaises voies, et observez mes commandements et mes ordonnances, en suivant toute la loi que j’ai prescrite à vos pères et que je vous ai envoyée par l’organe de mes serviteurs les prophètes. »
And the Lord witnesside in Israel and in Juda, bi the hond of alle prophetis and seeris, and seide, Turne ye ayen fro youre werste weies, and kepe ye my comaundementis, and ceremonyes, bi al the lawe whiche Y comaundide to youre fadris, and as Y sente to you in the hond of my seruauntis prophetis.
14 Mais ils n’écoutèrent point, et ils raidirent leur cou, comme leurs pères, qui n’avaient pas cru à Yahweh, leur Dieu.
Whiche herden not, but maden hard her nol bi the nol of her fadris, that nolden obeie to her Lord God.
15 Ils rejetèrent ses ordonnances et son alliance qu’il avait conclue avec leurs pères, et les témoignages qu’il avait rendus contre eux. Ils allèrent après des choses de néant, et s’adonnèrent à la vanité, à la suite des nations qui les entouraient et que Yahweh leur avait commandé de ne pas imiter.
And thei castiden, awei the lawful thingis of hym, and the couenaunt which he couenauntide with her fadris, and the witnessyngis bi whiche he witnesside to hem; and thei sueden vanytees, `that is, idols, and diden veynli; and sueden hethene men, that weren `bi the cumpas of hem; of whiche vanytees the Lord comaundide to hem, that thei schulden not do as also tho hethene men diden.
16 Ils abandonnèrent tous les commandements de Yahweh, leur Dieu, ils se firent deux veaux en fonte, et ils se firent des aschérahs; ils se prosternèrent devant toute l’armée des cieux et ils servirent Baal.
And thei forsoken alle the comaundementis of her Lord God, and thei maden to hem twei yotun calues, and wodis, and worschipiden al the knyythod of heuene; and thei seruyden Baal, and halewiden to hym her sones,
17 Ils firent passer par le feu leurs fils et leurs filles, ils pratiquèrent la divination et les enchantements, et ils s’appliquèrent à faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, de manière à l’irriter.
and her douytris thoruy fier, and thei seruyden to fals dyuynyng, and to dyuynyng bi chiterynge of briddis; and thei yauen hem silf to do yuel bifor the Lord, and thei wraththiden hym.
18 Et Yahweh s’est fortement irrité contre Israël et il les a éloignés de sa face. — Il n’est resté que la seule tribu de Juda,
And the Lord was wrooth greetli to Israel; and he took awei hem fro his siyt, and noon lefte, no but the lynage of Juda oneli.
19 quoique Juda lui-même n’eût pas gardé les commandements de Yahweh, leur Dieu, et qu’ils eussent suivi les rites établis par Israël. —
But nether Juda hym silf kepte the heestis of `his Lord God, netheles he erride, and yede in the errour of Israel, whiche it wrouyte.
20 Yahweh a rejeté toute la race d’Israël; il les a affligés, il les a livrés entre les mains des pillards, jusqu’à ce qu’il les ait chassés loin de sa face.
And the Lord castide awei al the seed of Israel, and turmentide hem, and bitook hem in the hond of rauynouris; til he castide awei hem fro his face,
21 Car Israël s’était détaché de la maison de David, et ils avaient établi roi Jéroboam, fils de Nabat; et Jéroboam avait détourné Israël de Yahweh et leur avait fait commettre un grand péché.
fro that tyme in which Israel was departid fro the hous of Dauid, and maden to hem a kyng, Jeroboam, sone of Nabath. For Jeroboam departide Israel fro the Lord, and made hem to do a greet synne.
22 Et les enfants d’Israël marchèrent dans tous les péchés que Jéroboam avait commis; ils ne s’en détournèrent point,
And the sones of Israel yeden in alle the synnes of Jeroboam, whiche he hadde do; and thei departiden not fro tho synnes,
23 jusqu’à ce que Yahweh eût chassé Israël loin de sa face, comme il l’avait dit par l’organe de tous ses serviteurs les prophètes. Et Israël fut emmené captif loin de son pays en Assyrie, où il est resté jusqu’à ce jour.
til the Lord dide awei Israel fro his face, as he spak in the hond of alle hise seruauntis prophetis; and Israel was translatid fro his lond in to Assiriens til in to this dai.
24 Le roi d’Assyrie fit venir des gens de Babylone, de Cutha, d’Avah, d’Emath et de Sépharvaïm, et les établit dans les villes de Samarie à la place des enfants d’Israël; ils prirent possession de Samarie et ils habitèrent dans ses villes.
Forsothe the kyng of Assiriens brouyte puple fro Babiloyne, and fro Cutha, and fro Hailath, and fro Emath, and fro Sepharuaym, and settide hem in the citees of Samarie for the sones of Israel; whiche hadden in possessioun Samarie, and dwelliden in the citees therof.
25 Lorsqu’ils commencèrent à y habiter, ils ne craignaient pas Yahweh, et Yahweh envoya contre eux des lions qui les tuaient.
And whanne thei bigunnen to dwelle there, thei dredden not the Lord; and the Lord sente to hem liouns, that killiden hem.
26 On fit donc ce rapport au roi d’Assyrie: « Les nations que tu as déportées et établies dans les villes de Samarie ne connaissent pas la manière de servir le dieu du pays; et il a envoyé contre elles des lions et voici qu’ils les font mourir; parce qu’elles ignorent la manière de servir le dieu du pays. »
And it was teld to the kyng of Assiriens, and was seid, The folkis whiche thou translatidist, and madist to dwelle in the citees of Samarie, kunnen not the lawful thingis of God of the lond; and the Lord sente liouns in to hem, and lo! liouns sleen hem; for thei kunnen not the custom of God of the lond.
27 Le roi d’Assyrie donna cet ordre: « Envoyez-y un des prêtres que vous avez amenés de là en captivité; qu’il aille s’y établir, et qu’il leur enseigne la manière de servir le dieu du pays. »
Sotheli the kyng of Assiriens comaundide, and seide, Lede ye thidur oon of the preestis, whiche ye brouyten prisoneris fro thennus, that he go, and dwelle with hem, and teche hem the lawful thingis of God of the lond.
28 Un des prêtres qu’on avait emmenés captifs de Samarie vint s’établir à Béthel, et leur enseigna comment ils devaient honorer Yahweh.
Therfor whanne oon of these preestis had come, that weren led prisoneris fro Samarie, he dwellide in Bethel, and tauyte hem, how thei schulden worschipe the Lord.
29 Mais les nations firent chacune leurs dieux, et les placèrent dans les maisons des hauts lieux bâties par les Samaritains, chaque nation dans la ville qu’elle habitait.
And ech folk made his god, and thei settiden tho goddis in the hiy templis, whiche the men of Samarie hadden maad, folk and folk in her citees, in whiche thei dwelliden.
30 Les gens de Babylone firent Sochoth-Benoth, les gens de Cutha firent Nergel, les gens d’Emath firent Asima,
For men of Babiloyne maden Socoth Benoth; forsothe men of Cutha maden Vergel; and men of Emath maden Asyma;
31 ceux d’Avah firent Nebahaz et Tharthac, et ceux de Sapharvaïm livraient leurs enfants au feu en l’honneur d’Adramélech et d’Anamélech, dieux de Sépharvaïm.
forsothe Eueis maden Nabaath and Tharcha; sotheli thei that weren of Sepharuaym brenten her sones in fier to Adramelech and Anamelech, goddis of Sepharuaym.
32 Ils honoraient aussi Yahweh, et ils se firent des prêtres des hauts lieux pris parmi tout le peuple, et ces prêtres faisaient pour eux des sacrifices dans les maisons des hauts lieux.
And netheles thei worschipiden the Lord; forsothe of the laste men thei maden preestis of the hiye thingis, and settiden hem in hiye templis.
33 Ainsi ils honoraient Yahweh, et ils servaient en même temps leurs dieux selon la coutume des nations d’où on les avait déportés.
And whanne thei worschipiden God, thei serueden also her goddis, bi the custom of hethene men, fro whiche thei weren translatid to Samarie;
34 Ils suivent jusqu’à aujourd’hui les premières coutumes; ils ne craignent point Yahweh, et ils ne se conforment ni à leurs règlements et à leurs ordonnances, ni à la loi et aux commandements donnés par Yahweh aux enfants de Jacob, qu’il appela du nom d’Israël.
`til in to present dai thei suen the eld custom; thei dredden not the Lord, nethir thei kepen hise cerymonyes, and domes, and lawe, and comaundement, which the Lord comaundide to the sones of Jacob, whom he nemyde Israel;
35 Yahweh avait conclu une alliance avec eux et leur avait donné cet ordre: « Vous ne craindrez point d’autres dieux, vous ne vous prosternerez point devant eux, vous ne les servirez point et vous ne leur offrirez point de sacrifices.
and he smoot a couenaunt with hem, and comaundide to hem, and seide, Nyle ye drede alien goddis, and onoure ye not outwardli hem, nethir worschipe ye inwardli hem, and make ye not sacrifice to hem;
36 Mais Yahweh, votre Dieu, qui vous a fait monter du pays d’Égypte par une grande puissance et par son bras étendu, c’est lui que vous craindrez, devant lui que vous vous prosternerez, à lui que vous offrirez des sacrifices.
but youre Lord God, that ledde you out of the lond of Egipt in greet strengthe, and in arm holdun forth, drede ye hym, and worschipe ye hym, and make ye sacrifice to hym.
37 Vous observerez les préceptes, les ordonnances, la loi et les commandements qu’il a écrits pour vous, les mettant toujours en pratique, et vous ne craindrez point d’autres dieux.
And kepe ye the cerymonyes, and domes, and the lawe, and comaundement, which he wroot to you, that ye do in alle daies; and drede ye not alien goddis.
38 Vous n’oublierez pas l’alliance que j’ai conclue avec vous, et vous ne craindrez point d’autres dieux.
And nyle ye foryete the couenaunt, which he smoot with you, nether worschipe ye alien goddis;
39 Mais vous craindrez Yahweh, votre Dieu, et c’est lui qui vous délivrera de la main de tous vos ennemis. »
but drede ye youre Lord God, and he schal delyuere you fro the hond of alle youre enemyes.
40 Et ils n’ont pas obéi, mais ils ont suivi leurs premières coutumes.
Forsothe thei herden not, but diden bi her formere custom.
Therfor these hethene men dredden sotheli God; but netheles thei serueden also her idols, for bothe her sones and the sones of sones doen so, til in to present dai, as her fadris diden.
