2 Chroniques 9
1 La reine de Saba, ayant appris la renommée de Salomon, vint pour éprouver Salomon par des énigmes, à Jérusalem, avec un équipage très considérable, et des chameaux portant des aromates, de l'or en grande quantité, et des pierres précieuses. Elle se rendit auprès de Salomon, et elle lui dit tout ce qu'elle avait dans le cœur.
And the queen of Sheba has heard of the fame of Solomon, and comes to Jerusalem to try Solomon with acute sayings, with a very great company, and camels carrying spices and gold in abundance, and precious stone; and she comes to Solomon, and speaks with him all that has been with her heart,
2 Salomon répondit à toutes ses questions, et il n'y eut rien qui restât caché au roi, sans qu'il pût répondre.
and Solomon declares all her matters to her, and there has not been hid a thing from Solomon that he has not declared to her.
3 Quand la reine de Saba eut vu la sagesse de Salomon, et la maison qu'il avait bâtie,
And the queen of Sheba sees the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he has built,
4 et les mets de sa table, et les appartements de ses serviteurs, et les chambres et les vêtements de ses domestiques, et ses échansons et leurs vêtements, et l'escalier par où il montait dans la maison de Yahweh, elle fut hors d'elle-même,
and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing, and his stewards, and their clothing, and his burnt-offering that he offered up in the house of YHWH, and there has not been anymore spirit in her.
5 et elle dit au roi: " C'était donc vrai ce que j'ai appris dans mon pays de ce qui te concerne et de ta sagesse!
And she says to the king, “The word [is] true that I heard in my land concerning your matters and concerning your wisdom,
6 Je n'en croyais pas le récit avant d'être venue et d'avoir vu de mes yeux, et voici qu'on ne m'avait pas dit la moitié de la grandeur de ta sagesse! Tu surpasses ce que la renommée m'avait fait connaître.
and I have given no credence to their words until I have come and my eyes see, and behold, there has not been declared to me the half of the abundance of your wisdom—you have added to the report that I heard.
7 Heureux tes gens, heureux tes serviteurs, qui sont continuellement devant toi et qui entendent ta sagesse!
O the blessedness of your men, and the blessedness of your servants—these—who are standing before you continually, and hearing your wisdom.
8 Béni soit Yahweh, ton Dieu, qui s'est complu en toi et t'a placé sur son trône comme roi pour Yahweh, ton Dieu! C'est parce que ton Dieu aime Israël, pour le faire subsister à jamais, qu'il t'a établi roi sur lui, pour que tu fasses droit et justice. "
Let your God YHWH be blessed who has delighted in you to put you on His throne for king for your God YHWH; in the love of your God to Israel, to establish it for all time, He has put you over them for king, to do judgment and righteousness.”
9 Elle donna au roi cent vingt talents d'or, une très grande quantité d'aromates et des pierres précieuses. Il n'y eut plus autant d'aromates tels que ceux que la reine de Saba donna au roi Salomon.
And she gives to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stone; and there has not been any such spice as the queen of Sheba has given to King Solomon.
10 Les serviteurs de Hiram et les serviteurs de Salomon, qui apportaient de l'or d'Ophir, amenèrent aussi du bois de santal et des pierres précieuses.
And also, servants of Huram, and servants of Solomon, who brought in gold from Ophir, have brought in algum-trees and precious stone.
11 Le roi fit avec le bois de santal des balustrades pour la maison de Yahweh et pour la maison du roi, et des harpes et des lyres pour les chantres. On n'avait pas vu auparavant de bois semblable dans le pays de Juda.
And the king makes the algum-trees [into] staircases for the house of YHWH, and for the house of the king, and harps and psalteries for singers; and there have been none seen like these before in the land of Judah.
12 Le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Saba tout ce qu'elle désira, ce qu'elle demanda, plus qu'elle n'avait apporté au roi. Puis elle s'en retourna et alla dans son pays, elle et ses serviteurs.
And King Solomon has given to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, apart from that which she had brought to the king, and she turns and goes to her land, she and her servants.
13 Le poids de l'or qui arrivait à Salomon en une année était de six cent soixante-six talents d'or,
And the weight of the gold that is coming to Solomon in one year is six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold,
14 outre ce que les marchands et les négociants lui apportaient; tous les rois d'Arabie et les gouverneurs du pays apportaient de l'or et de l'argent à Salomon.
apart from [what] the tourists and the merchants are bringing in; and all the kings of Arabia, and the governors of the land, are bringing in gold and silver to Solomon.
15 Le roi Salomon fit deux cents grands boucliers d'or battu, employant six cents sicles d'or battu pour chaque bouclier,
And King Solomon makes two hundred bucklers of alloyed gold—he causes six hundred [shekels] of alloyed gold to go up on the one buckler;
16 et trois cents petits boucliers d'or battu, employant trois cents sicles d'or pour chaque bouclier; et le roi les mit dans la maison de la forêt du Liban.
and three hundred shields of alloyed gold—he causes three hundred [shekels] of gold to go up on the one shield, and the king puts them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
17 Le roi fit un grand trône d'ivoire et le revêtit d'or pur.
And the king makes a great throne of ivory, and overlays it with pure gold;
18 Ce trône avait six degrés et un marchepied d'or, fixés au trône; il y avait des bras de chaque côté du siège; deux lions se tenaient près des bras,
and six steps [are] to the throne, and a footstool of gold, [and] they are fastened to the throne; and [places for] hands [are] on this [side] and on that [side] on the place of the sitting, and two lions are standing near the hands,
19 et douze lions se tenaient là sur les six degrés, six de chaque côte. Il ne s'est fait rien de pareil dans aucun royaume.
and twelve lions are standing there on the six steps on this [side] and on that [side]: it has not been made so for any kingdom.
20 Tous les vases à boire du roi Salomon étaient d'or, et toute la vaisselle de la maison de la forêt du Liban était d'or fin. Rien n'était d'argent; on n'en faisait nul cas du temps de Salomon.
And all the drinking vessels of King Solomon [are] of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon [are] of refined gold—silver is not reckoned in the days of Solomon for anything;
21 Car le roi avait des vaisseaux qui allaient à Tarsis, naviguant avec les serviteurs de Hiram; une fois tous les trois ans, les vaisseaux de Tharsis arrivaient, apportant de l'or et de l'argent, de l'ivoire, des singes et des paons.
for ships of the king are going to Tarshish with servants of Huram: once in three years the ships of Tarshish come carrying gold, and silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks [[or monkeys]].
22 Le roi Salomon fut plus grand que tous les rois de la terre par les richesses et par la sagesse.
And King Solomon becomes greater than any of the kings of the earth for riches and wisdom;
23 Tous les rois de la terre cherchaient à voir Salomon, pour entendre la sagesse que Dieu avait mise dans son cœur;
and all the kings of the earth are seeking the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom that God has put in his heart,
24 et chacun apportait son présent, des objets d'argent et des objets d'or, des vêtements, des armes, des aromates, des chevaux et des mulets, chaque année.
and they are each bringing in his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
25 Salomon avait quatre mille crèches pour les chevaux destinés à ses chars, et douze mille cavaliers, qu'il plaça dans les villes où étaient déposés ses chars, et près du roi à Jérusalem.
And there are four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen for Solomon, and he placed them in cities of the chariot, and with the king in Jerusalem.
26 Il dominait sur tous les rois, depuis le Fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins et jusqu'à la frontière d'Egypte.
And he is ruling over all the kings from the River even to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
27 Le roi fit que l'argent était à Jérusalem aussi commun que les pierres, et il fit que les cèdres étaient aussi nombreux que les sycomores qui croissent dans la plaine.
And the king makes the silver in Jerusalem as stones, and he has made the cedars as sycamores that [are] in the low country, for abundance,
28 On tirait des chevaux pour Salomon de l'Egypte et de tous les pays.
and they are bringing out horses from Egypt to Solomon, and from all the lands.
29 Le reste des actes de Salomon, les premiers et les derniers, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans les Paroles de Nathan le prophète, dans la Prophétie d'Ahias de Silo, et dans les Visions d'Addo le voyant au sujet de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat?
And the rest of the matters of Solomon, the first and the last, are they not written beside the matters of Nathan the prophet, and beside the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and with the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat?
30 Salomon régna quarante ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël.
And Solomon reigns in Jerusalem over all Israel [for] forty years,
31 Et Salomon se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David, son père; et Roboam, son fils, devint roi à sa place.
and Solomon lies with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of his father David, and his son Rehoboam reigns in his stead.
