2 Chroniques 5
1 Ainsi fut achevé tout l’ouvrage que Salomon fit dans la maison de Yahweh. Et Salomon apporta ce que David, son père, avait consacré, ainsi que l’argent, l’or et tous les vases, et il les déposa dans les trésors de la maison de Dieu.
So all the work which Solomon did for the house of the Lord was complete. And Solomon took the holy things which David his father had given, the silver and the gold and all the vessels, and put them in the store-houses of the house of God.
2 Alors Salomon assembla à Jérusalem les anciens d’Israël et tous les chefs des tribus, les princes des familles des enfants d’Israël, pour transporter de la cité de David, c’est-à-dire de Sion, l’arche de l’alliance de Yahweh.
Then Solomon sent for all the responsible men of Israel, all the chiefs of the tribes and the heads of families of the children of Israel, to come to Jerusalem and take the ark of the Lord's agreement up out of the town of David, which is Zion.
3 Tous les hommes d’Israël se réunirent auprès du roi pour la fête, qui eut lieu le septième mois.
And all the men of Israel came together to the king at the feast in the seventh month.
4 Lorsque tous les anciens d’Israël furent arrivés, les fils de Lévi portèrent l’arche.
All the responsible men of Israel came, and the Levites took up the ark.
5 Ils transportèrent l’arche, ainsi que la tente de réunion et tous les ustensiles sacrés qui étaient dans la tente; ce furent les prêtres Lévites qui les transportèrent.
They took up the ark and the Tent of meeting and all the holy vessels which were in the Tent; all these the priests, the Levites, took up.
6 Le roi Salomon et toute l’assemblée d’Israël convoquée auprès de lui, se tenaient devant l’arche. Ils immolèrent des brebis et des bœufs qui ne pouvaient être ni comptés ni nombrés à cause de leur multitude.
And King Solomon and all the men of Israel who had come together there with him, were before the ark, making offerings of sheep and oxen more than might be numbered.
7 Les prêtres portèrent l’arche de l’alliance de Yahweh à sa place, dans le sanctuaire de la maison, dans le Saint des saints, sous les ailes des Chérubins;
And the priests took the ark of the Lord's agreement and put it in its place, in the inner room of the house, in the most holy place, under the wings of the winged ones.
8 et les Chérubins étendaient leurs ailes sur la place de l’arche, et les Chérubins couvraient l’arche et ses barres par-dessus.
For their wings were outstretched over the place where the ark was, covering the ark and its rods.
9 Les barres avaient une longueur telle que leurs extrémités se voyaient à distance de l’arche devant le sanctuaire; mais on ne les voyait pas du dehors. L’arche a été là jusqu’à ce jour.
The rods were so long that their ends were seen from the holy place before the inmost room; but they were not seen from outside; and there they are to this day.
10 Il n’y avait dans l’arche que les deux tables que Moïse y avait placées à Horeb, lorsque Yahweh fit alliance avec les enfants d’Israël à leur sortie d’Égypte.
Nothing was in the ark but the two flat stones which Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made an agreement with the children of Israel when they came out of Egypt.
11 Au moment où les prêtres sortirent du Saint, — car tous les prêtres présents s’étaient sanctifiés sans observer l’ordre des classes,
Now when the priests had come out of the holy place, (for all the priests who were present had made themselves holy, not keeping to their divisions;
12 et tous les Lévites qui étaient chantres, Asaph, Héman, Idithun, leurs fils et leurs frères, revêtus de fin lin, se tenaient à l’orient de l’autel avec des cymbales, des cithares et des harpes, ayant auprès d’eux cent vingt prêtres qui sonnaient des trompettes, —
And the Levites who made the music, all of them, Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and brothers, robed in fair linen, were in their places with their brass and corded instruments at the east side of the altar, and with them a hundred and twenty priests blowing horns; )
13 et aussitôt que ceux qui sonnaient des trompettes et ceux qui chantaient, unis dans un même accord pour célébrer et louer Yahweh, firent retentir le son des trompettes, des cymbales et des autres instruments de musique, et célébrèrent Yahweh, en disant: « Car il est bon, car sa miséricorde dure à jamais! « en ce moment la maison, la maison de Yahweh, fut remplie d’une nuée.
And when the players on horns, and those who made melody in song, with one voice were sounding the praise and glory of the Lord; with loud voices and with wind instruments, and brass and corded instruments of music, praising the Lord and saying, He is good; his mercy is unchanging for ever: then the house was full of the cloud of the glory of the Lord,
14 Les prêtres ne purent pas y rester pour faire le service, à cause de la nuée; car la gloire de Yahweh remplissait la maison de Dieu.
So that the priests were not able to keep their places to do their work because of the cloud; for the house of God was full of the glory of the Lord.
