2 Chroniques 22
1 À la place de Joram, les habitants de Jérusalem firent roi Ochozias, son plus jeune fils; car la troupe qui était venue dans le camp avec les Arabes avait tué tous les plus âgés. C’est ainsi que régna Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda.
And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ochozias his youngest son king in his place: for the rovers of the Arabians, who had broke in upon the camp, had killed all that were his elder brothers. So Ochozias the son of Joram king of Juda reigned.
2 Il avait quarante-deux ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Athalie, fille d’Amri.
Ochozias was forty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother was Athalia the daughter of Amri.
3 Lui aussi marcha dans les voies de la maison d’Achab, car sa mère était sa conseillère pour le faire pécher.
He also walked in the ways of the house of Achab: for his mother pushed him on to do wickedly.
4 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, comme ceux de la maison d’Achab; car après la mort de son père, ils furent ses conseillers pour sa perte.
So he did evil in the sight of the Lord, as the house of Achab did: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father, to his destruction.
5 Ce fut aussi sur leur conseil qu’il se mit en marche et alla avec Joram, fils d’Achab, roi d’Israël, combattre Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth-en-Galaad. Les Syriens blessèrent Joram.
And he walked after their counsels. And he went with Joram the son of Achab king of Israel, to fight against Hazael king of Syria, at Ramoth Galaad: and the Syrians wounded Joram.
6 Joram s’en retourna pour se faire guérir à Jezrahel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Rama, lorsqu’il se battait contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Azarias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram, fils d’Achab, à Jezrahel, parce qu’il était malade.
And he returned to be healed in Jezrahel: for he received many wounds in the foresaid battle. And Ochozias the son of Joram king of Juda, went down to visit Joram the son of Achab in Jezrahel where he lay sick.
7 Par la volonté de Dieu, ce fut la perte d’Ochozias, que de se rendre auprès de Joram. Lorsqu’il fut arrivé, il sortit avec Joram pour aller vers Jéhu, fils de Namsi, que Yahweh avait oint pour exterminer la maison d’Achab.
For it was the will of God against Ochozias that he should come to Joram: and when he was come should go out also against Jehu the son of Namsi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Achab.
8 Et comme Jehu faisait justice de la maison d’Achab, il trouva les chefs de Juda et les fils des frères d’Ochozias, qui étaient au service d’Ochozias, et il les tua.
So when Jehu was rooting out the house of Achab, he found the princes of Juda, and the sons of the brethren of Ochozias, who served him, and he slew them.
9 Il chercha Ochozias, et on le saisit dans Samarie, où il s’était caché; on l’amena à Jéhu, et on le fit mourir. Puis ils lui donnèrent la sépulture, car ils disaient: « C’est le fils de Josaphat, qui chercha Yahweh de tout son cœur. « Et il n’y eut personne de la maison d’Ochozias qui fût en état de régner.
And he sought for Ochozias himself, and took him lying hid in Samaria: and when he was brought to him, he killed him, and they buried him: because he was the son of Josaphat, who had sought the Lord with all his heart. And there was no more hope that any one should reign of the race of Ochozias.
10 Athalie, mère d’Ochozias, voyant que son fils était mort, se leva et fit périr toute la race royale de la maison de Juda.
For Athalia his mother, seeing that her son was dead, rose up, and killed all the royal family of the house of Joram.
11 Mais Josabeth, fille du roi, prit Joas, fils d’Ochosias, et l’enleva du milieu des fils du roi, que l’on massacrait; et elle le mit avec sa nourrice dans la chambre des lits. Josabeth, fille du roi Joram, femme du prêtre Joïada, et sœur d’Ochosias, le déroba ainsi aux regards d’Athalie, qui ne le fit point mourir.
But Josabeth the king’s daughter took Joas the son of Ochozias, and stole him from among the king’s sons that were slain. And she hid him with his nurse in a bedchamber: now Josabeth that hid him, was daughter of king Joram, wife of Joiada the high priest, and sister of Ochozias, and therefore Athalia did not kill him.
12 Il resta six ans avec eux, caché dans la maison de Dieu; et ce fut Athalie qui régna sur le pays.
And he was with them hid in the house of God six years, during which Athalia reigned over the land.
