2 Chroniques 1
1 Salomon, fils de David, s’affermit dans sa royauté; Yahweh, son Dieu, était avec lui, et il l’éleva à un très haut degré.
Solomon son of David was strengthened in his rule, and Yahweh his God was with him and made him very powerful.
2 Salomon donna des ordres à tout Israël, aux chefs de milliers et de centaines, aux juges et à tous les princes de tout Israël, aux chefs de familles;
Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the heads of the fathers' houses.
3 et Salomon se rendit avec toute l’assemblée au haut lieu qui était à Gabaon. Là se trouvait la tente de réunion de Dieu, que Moïse, serviteur de Yahweh, avait faite dans le désert;
So Solomon and all the assembly with him went to the high place that was at Gibeon, for there was the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of Yahweh, had made in the wilderness.
4 quant à l’arche de Dieu, David l’avait transportée de Cariathiarim à la place qu’il lui avait préparée, car il avait dressé pour elle une tente à Jérusalem.
But David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to the place that he had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
5 L’autel d’airain qu’avait fait Béséléel, fils d’Uri, fils de Hur, se trouvait aussi là, devant le tabernacle de Yahweh. Salomon et l’assemblée cherchèrent Yahweh.
In addition, the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur was there before the tabernacle of Yahweh; Solomon and the assembly went to it.
6 Là, sur l’autel d’airain qui était devant Yahweh, près de la tente de réunion, Salomon offrit mille holocaustes.
Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before Yahweh, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered one thousand burnt offerings on it.
7 La nuit suivante, Dieu apparut à Salomon et lui dit: « Demande ce que tu veux que je te donne. »
God appeared to Solomon that night and said to him, “Ask! What should I give you?”
8 Salomon répondit à Dieu: « Vous avez montré une grande bienveillance envers David, mon père, et vous m’avez fait régner à sa place.
Solomon said to God, “You have shown great covenant faithfulness to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
9 Maintenant, Yahweh Dieu, que s’accomplisse votre parole que vous avez dite à David, mon père, puisque vous m’avez fait régner sur un peuple nombreux comme la poussière de la terre!
Now, Yahweh God, let your promise to David my father be carried out, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10 Accordez-moi donc la sagesse et l’intelligence, afin que je sache me conduire devant votre peuple. Car qui pourrait juger votre peuple, ce peuple si grand? »
Now give me wisdom and knowledge, so that I may lead this people, for who can judge your people, who are so many in number?”
11 Dieu dit à Salomon: « Parce que c’est là ce qui est dans ton cœur, et que tu n’as pas demandé ni des richesses, ni des biens, ni de la gloire, ni la mort de tes ennemis, et que même tu n’as pas demandé de longs jours, et que tu as demandé pour toi la sagesse et l’intelligence pour juger mon peuple sur lequel je t’ai fait régner,
God said to Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and because you have not asked for riches, wealth, or honor, nor for the life of those who hate you, nor for long life for yourself, but you have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, so that you might rule my people, over whom I have made you king, and this is what I will do.
12 la sagesse et l’intelligence te sont données. Je te donnerai en outre des richesses, des biens et de la gloire, comme n’en a eu aucun roi avant toi, et comme n’en aura aucun après toi. »
I will now give you wisdom and knowledge. I will also give you riches, wealth, and honor, as none of the kings had before you, and none after you will have.”
13 Du haut lieu de Gabaon, de devant la tente de réunion, Salomon revint à Jérusalem, et il régna sur Israël.
So Solomon came to Jerusalem from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting; he reigned over Israel.
14 Salomon rassembla des chars et des cavaliers; il avait quatorze cents chars et douze mille cavaliers, qu’il plaça dans les villes où étaient déposés les chars, et près du roi à Jérusalem.
Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had 1,400 chariots and twelve thousand horsemen that he placed in the chariot cities, and with himself, the king in Jerusalem.
15 Le roi fit que l’argent et l’or étaient à Jérusalem aussi communs que les pierres, et il fit que les cèdres étaient aussi nombreux que les sycomores qui croissent dans la plaine.
The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as the stones, and he made cedar wood as common as the sycamore trees that are in the lowlands.
16 C’était de l’Égypte que provenaient les chevaux de Salomon; une caravane de marchands du roi les allait prendre par troupes à un prix convenu;
As for the importation of horses from Egypt and Kue for Solomon, his merchants bought them from Kue at a price.
17 on faisait monter et sortir d’Égypte un char pour six cents sicles d’argent, et un cheval pour cent cinquante sicles. Ils en faisaient aussi sortir de la même manière, par eux-mêmes, pour tous les rois des Héthéens et pour les rois de Syrie.
They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for 150 shekels. They also exported them to the kings of the Hittites and the Arameans.
