1 Pierre 5
1 J’exhorte les anciens qui sont parmi vous, moi ancien comme eux, témoin des souffrances du Christ, et qui prendrai part avec eux à la gloire qui doit être manifestée:
Therefore I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed:
2 paissez le troupeau de Dieu qui vous est confié, veillant sur lui, non par contrainte, mais de bon gré; non dans un intérêt sordide, mais par dévouement;
shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily; not for dishonest gain, but willingly;
3 non en dominateurs des Églises, mais en devenant les modèles du troupeau.
not as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.
4 Et quand le Prince des pasteurs paraîtra, vous recevrez la couronne de gloire, qui ne se flétrit jamais.
When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn’t fade away.
5 De même, vous qui êtes plus jeunes, soyez soumis aux anciens; tous, les uns à l’égard des autres, revêtez-vous d’humilité, car « Dieu résiste aux orgueilleux et donne sa grâce aux humbles. »
Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and subject yourselves to one another; for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
6 Humiliez-vous donc sous la puissante main de Dieu, afin qu’il vous élève au temps marqué;
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,
7 déchargez-vous sur lui de toutes vos sollicitudes, car lui-même prend soin de vous.
casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
8 Soyez sobres, veillez; votre adversaire, le diable, comme un lion rugissant, rode autour de vous, cherchant qui dévorer.
Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 Résistez-lui, fermes dans la foi, sachant que vos frères dispersés dans le monde, endurent les mêmes souffrances que vous.
Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
10 Le Dieu de toute grâce, qui vous a appelés à sa gloire éternelle dans le Christ, après quelques souffrances, achèvera lui-même son œuvre, vous affermira, vous fortifiera, vous rendra inébranlables. (aiōnios g166)
But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. (aiōnios g166)
To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 C’est par Sylvain, un frère dont la fidélité m’est connue, que je vous écris ce peu de mots, pour vous exhorter et vous assurer que c’est bien dans la vraie grâce de Dieu que vous êtes établis.
Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.
